Space Goblin Tribes

Starfinder General Discussion

Back in Pathfinder we had "Goblins of Golarion" which introduced besides culture a number of Goblin tribes, like the Wart Tongue tribe and the Bulbhead tribe with theri rather discriptive names or the rather nefarious (for goblin standards) named tribes like the Ghostmask and Spelleater Goblins.

Since we got Space goblins now I am pretty sure there will be a rather big number of tribes of our probably far scattered most lovable vermin.

So lets think what for new tribes there could be and what their 'special abilities' might be.

There could be for example a tribe, lets call them the 'Rocket Runners' who tend to strap smallcraft engines to their backs to use them as improvised jetpacks/jumppacks - which tend to shoot to far or simply explode now and then.

Void Sucker Tribe - Doesnt fear the vacuum of space. no real benefit to this and the tribe suffers even more accidental deaths than most space born goblin tribes.

Rust Bucket Tribe - Highly corrsive spit from past genetic tampering. all members have a bite attack that deals +1 corrosive damage that ignores hardness of 10 or less.

Hot Light Tribe - having found a cache of laser weapons they have since taken things a bit too far. All weapons they use include a laser pistol strapped or welded on allowing them to make a single attack as a full attack action that adds 1D4 fire damage on a successful hit.

With those fishbowl-style space helmets, the Bulbhead tribe almost seems to take on an extra level of implication in their name. If I were them, i would keep my fingers away from light sockets... just sayin'.

So do space goblins still have the aversion to literacy as the old goblins? It's a bigger disadvantage in space than on a planet.

Imagine goblin pictographic instructions on the dangers of space or the operations of firearms though...

Who needs literacy when you know that the big red button fires the engines of your ship and this button over here on your rocket launcher makes the enemy go boom?

Helmets are now Mystical devices to keep their heads from exploding at the sight of written words...

Well, Contain said explosion...

Clearly the best possibly outcome is just push all buttons as fast as you can until everything is exploding.

Now I'm picturing goblin ships that have nothing but big red buttons in them. Sure, sometimes you just activate the windshield wipers, but at least everyone on the crew gets their own big red button to push.

The big red button labelled "Do not Press" seems like it'd be popular at Shirren option bars too.

I'm reminded of baby groot and the button to blow up the bomb now vs set the timers.

The Space Scruncher tribe would like you to know that they are in space. They fly spaceships, shoot space guns, eat space foods, and worship a god they call "Spacey, the Space God of Space."

Hey, look-I found an image of Spacey!

I can certainly imagining goblins worshipping a ... character sphere with space obsession

Hot Potato Tribe - This Goblin tribe has come across makeshift, yet highly accurate potato guns, which allow the Goblins to launch hand-held torches as ammunition. Not realizing that fire is an environmental danger to everyone aboard the space station including their own tribe, they have evolved the ability to hold their breath for a number of minutes equal to seven times their Constitution score. Hopefully, someone will restore life support before everyone dies!

Their emblem is a flaming skull-faced potato.

The starship combat demo I've run a couple of times features the Starsparks tribe of space goblin pirates and their Jetsum-class fighters... which have a frightening tendency to malfunction.

Yeah, I noticed that, hah.

So I braved listening to myself in a video to get this goblin song down for posterity:

*ahem*

Goblin fly and goblin shoot.

Board your ship and take your loot.
Starsparks tribe in outer space,
Here we come to bite your face!

ALL OF THE TRIBES SHALL BE FOLDED INTO THE MIGHTY IMPERIAL GOBLIN SPACE NAVY! STARSPARKS, VOID EATERS, CRASHJUMPERS, ALL!

THE AGE OF GOBLINS DAWNS! SOON WE SHALL HARNESS THE FIRES OF THE STARS THEMSELVES!

AND BURN YOU WITH THEM.

Just... you know. Hold still.

I think you need another pair of fire proof underpants for that
