Backstory:

Born the son of Nobles in Talingard, Orm was given every opportunity to excel at life. The oldest and first born, Orm's parents reinforced his beliefs that he was great, good, and important.

Unfortunately for his younger siblings, this meant that he terrorised them on a daily basis. Beatings were a common occurrance, but never where the bruises could easily be seen.

This all came to a head when his parents had their fifth child, the first girl. They doted on her and showered her with attention, which caused their other children to try to compete with the attention they had left. This was about the time that Orm's abilities began to surface, and when he discovered that he could (however briefly) control people's minds, he threw everything he could into nurturing his abilities.

One morning, during breakfast, he turned to his mother and thought at her to kill her daughter. Unable to resist the momentary hatred that he forced upon her, she complied. Smiling inside, he began screaming at her, shouting at the top of his lungs that she was a murderer. The guard was quickly called, and Orm gave a tearful performance worth of an award. His mother was hauled away, to incredulous looks and his fathers' shame.

Within the week, his brothers had nearly beaten each other to death, and his father constantly had to step in and break up the fights.

Finally having enough of his father's interference, he made friends with the 2nd youngest son and convinced him that their father was going to give away their inheritance. As both boys were in their mid teens, they could not stand the notion. Buttering his brother up, he convinced him to sneak into his father's room with a blade, and then used his power on him to have him kill his father.

The plan, however, did not quite work, as his father did not die from the attack. After disabling his son, he asked him where he had gotten such an idea, and he pointed at Orm. Orm began to defend himself, but his father would not listen to his pleas.

The trial was a short one, and his trip to prison swift.

Prison, however, was not the threat he had heard it would be. Orm found the strongest person in prison and made friends with him. He then slowly bent the man's will to his own. By the time he was released, the man worshipped him as a god, and was joined by others who would defer to him.

Orm had found his purpose in life: to give others purpose. What a noble goal it was indeed.

Yokaiboy, I'm not sure I understand the question, but I'll take a stab (and if I don't answer the question please let me know and clarify so I can). I let players run their own familiars. In general, as long as the familiar isn't used in combat, I ignore it for AoO effects and the like; but if you use it in combat, it becomes a fair target. I have no issue with the Magical Child vigilante archetype. I've never seen people use Familiar Archetypes but I have no problem with it.

That is good to know, but the question is more about improved familiars not gaining the speak with others of their kind ability, which is traded away by most archetypes (including the ones I am interested in figment or mauler) and a magical child never getting the feat and having a familiar that transforms between normal and improved. Another question regarding the magical child would be if they can still use the slow non flashy transformation, as the archetype doesn't change dual identity?

You can't use henshin in a non-flashy way, Yokaiboy, it goes against the genre XD

*I needed a minute to calm down after I followed that link and realised PF has official mahou shoujo class XD

That aside, are there any characters among those proposed who could've plausibly crossed paths with OCtavia at the capital?

Next question would you allow addopted->Caravan Drover to be reflavoured into a habit of "motivating" her families servants?

@Tavarokk: it's more for stuff like everyman or any guise (to become just another face in the crowd or another faceless guard) for the normal transformation I fully intend to utilise the genre appropriate amount of flashyness XD

*pathfinder has so many classes and archetypes that it has almost everything and mahou shoujo aren't the weirdest of it ;D

@Tavarokk

Just some ideas:

Octavia's background Part One wrote:
In the wake of young Octavia's rise in popularity and status, Mistress Leandra chose to share an even closer kept secret with her: the brothel was also a covert place of devil worship - of Asmodeus.

Asturu isn't an Asmodean, but his research might've brought him past the establishment. Not being one to indulge in whores, he probably did nothing more than observe and talk to the girls about their experiences .. and potentially bribing them to have them partake in social experiments with the clients.

Part two wrote:
Unfortunately, she barely managed to complete her training when a catastrophe happened - one of the clients got indiscreet, drawing attention to his connections in turn, and the establishment got raided by the witch hunters. Mistress Leandra died fighting as she tried to flee, while Octavia's attempts to disguise herself as a mere victim of her circumstances got hampered by the status she enjoyed before. Although she seemed to have managed to conceal her true role, she was judged to be complicit in devil worship nonetheless and sent off to Brandenscar.

Perhaps the idiot blabbered about Asturu's treatise (see background) or Octavia tried knocking on Asturu's door for help - causing the inquisition to be even more wary of him, and eventually, deciding to drag him to Brandenscar as well.

Just spitballing :)

LOL Now, I feel old and way out of touch... because aside from realising you are making Manga/Anime references, I have no idea what you are talking about. :D

Havocprince - Lady Adriana - Summoner

Let me know if I missed you!

Applications remain open until Friday the 23rd. I'll make decisions that weekend. Please keep an eye out this week and especially next weekend for PMs with questions about your submission.

A couple of notes:
1. For tieflings and aasimar, you can pick your variant heritage but you have to roll on the random table for any variant abilities and physical features. But, if you don't like the roll, you can keep the default.
2. Please be sure to touch on the background points outlined in the Players Guide (p18 under Finishing Details).

And to recap some questions:
Q: How many players am I looking for?
A: 5 or 6 is my ideal, but I may accept 7 on the assumption 1 or 2 will drop.

Q: How often should people expect to post?
A: At least once a day. More is okay if you're in heavy RP with another PC. Absences are fine as long as you let us know. (I've got enough to do without botting PCs so if you don't post you just wind up in a coma.)

Q: Can I min-max? (Nobody asked this, but I'm taking a related question and going with it.)
A: If you want, that's fine. My preference will be for balanced and effective characters that will make for some fun RP. But sometimes the barbarian with a heart of gold but no a lick of wisdom is fun as hell ("Go for the eyes, Boo, go for the eyes!").

Tokaiboy, I'm still cogitating on your questions. I've never had players making really extensive use of familiars in Pathfinder, so this is a new line of questions and rules for me so I'm sometimes having to parse what the issues are.

Anyone else, let me know if I missed your question.

Finally, thanks for the great quality of the submissions so far.

I've buffed up her physical description (per page 18) but her profile pic is accurate.

I figured Price was the black sheep of her family so I left that part of her backstory vague. I'll take a look at your Talingarde primer and select a home location on the island that seems reasonable.

I was planning to roll a variant ability if I got selected, but if you'd prefer to see it now...

Aasimar Variant Ability: 1d100 ⇒ 97 : DR2/Magic <-- That's nice at low levels! If it seems too powerful, let me know, and I'll re-roll.

Pathfinder Maps Subscriber; Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

Here is my submission, I am only in one PBP game currently so not too much to draw on. I'll be hoping to post at least once a day but if the group is moving along I can usually increase my frequency. The background kind of got away from me, it doesn't cover everything but I think it'll give you a good idea of the concept and personality. A man who's just trying to do the right thing, even if no one likes it.

Slight update in the background section.

Background:

“You’re him.” The voice was coarse but the man couldn’t contain his surprise. Gallen drew himself up from leaning against the cell wall though his muscles ached and made a wry smile, “Who would that be my new friend?”
“You tried to kill the young Prince and-” before the man could continue Gallen let out a snort though his longs cried out in pain, if not for the darkness there surely his new cell mate would have seen him wince. Gallen licked his lips in a vain attempt to moisten their cracked surface “I didn’t try to kill anyone, not yet anyway. I wouldn’t kill him anyway, that would be wrong.” He wagged a filth covered finger for emphasis.” The man peered accross the dim, small space between them, waiting a moment before speaking “But the guards they said you were going to try and kill young Prince.”

Gallen held up a hand “I think you’ve been quite misinformed about me, my good- appollogies I neglected to ask your name, what is it?” The newcomer hesitated, his mother always told him names had power and mages could twist them to their advantage but seeing as where they both were it would make little difference for much longer. “I’m called Gregor.”

Gallen ran a grimy hand through his hair “Well Gregor, I’m just trying to write a great wrong. I’d rather not bring the boy into it but I needed the edge to perform my duty. My associates weren’t going to harm the boy, I just required a lock of his hair. A small thing indeed but I had hoped in the coming years to put it to good use, leverage to gather more- useful objects. It’s a long term plan, I admit it would have taken a few decades, I might have had to pass it down to my own children… if I had a bit more time to have a few that is. They call it a conspiracy, they claim I set up a cult to incite treason. It’s all lies, of course, they won’t listen to me long enough to realise that, they either just hit me or call me mad and stop listening.”

Gregor inched a little further away, no small task in the enclosed space. “Nothing to be afraid of Gregor, if I didn’t have you I’d have no company. No I am an uncomfortable reminder of truths they wish burried with me. Firstly I didn’t set up the cults, I just looked for them and tried to give them some hope, some direction. Now the one I had the most influence over had my departed associates in it, Mephistopheles and his followers are a lot more cunning and discrete than our countrymen give them credit for. I wasn’t trying to start any treasonous activity, but infact trying to put and end to treasonous activities. I can see by your confused look my good man I’ve lost you. Time for a little history lesson.”

“As you know doubt know House Barca once ruled, but they became decadent and corrupt. You know this I know, I’ll get to the point. The Victor arose and he did some much needed cleaning house, they had become weak and the new order was better for a time. Then came the Learned of course, the Eldest but no true interest and was derelict in his duties. No denying it we must see these things warts and all. But the next parts going to contain a few truths for you, Gregor so listen well, Hallen, the Mad-” Gallen lets out a whistle and a laugh “who was succeeded by Marcus the Zealous, son of the Learned. Stop and think about that for a second. Marcus did not succeed his father, who as the stories claim was killed by Hallen. This sounds very odd. No five months after the King dies his son claims the throne after his uncle has an accident. Doesn’t it strike you as odd that the line of succession has become so messy hear and that there’s been a lot of accidents in the family? One mad son, these things happen. But righteous Paladins sworn to uphold the law help him on his way and find a speedy end to his reign… there’s something missing. I’m going to tell you one of the biggest secrets of the state.”

Gallen leans forward conspiratorially “Marcus the Zealous was not the son of the Learned. I mean if he had been he would have suceeded his father, according to the history books a mad man with a flaming sword killed his brother and they chose him to be the King over the man’s son and heir? Hallen claimed Mithra guided him, a man everyone admits was somewhat imbalanced. Then his successor who was previously overlooked comes forward becomes known as the Zealous, bans worship of Asmodeus and exalts Mithra. The Church of Asmodeus was the cause of Hallen’s poor mental health. The Church of Asmodeus who at that time was not particularly populous or powerful? Or did this young man who claimed to be the son of Martius need a scape goat that was at the time neither powerful or populous enough to be a big problem.” Gallen drew closer to Gregor who had nowhere to hide from him and his uncomfortable truths now “Or did a powerful group throw their lot behind a man they believed they could manipulate and control, a man who needed help not meddling and when they found him growing more unstable they either created an heir from scratch in a son who was previously overlooked for succession or if there was a child in the first place they used there influence to push a mentally infirm man into a position that made his condition worse? Whats the common thread, Mithra and his paladins, the power behind the throne. A good purge can root out anyone who raises an objection, you just need an excuse like a small church possessing your King with a demon, something I am sure over the course of five months one of the Paladins of Mithra who so valiantly guarded him to his doom would have noticed.”

“My father told me of those times, he was young but he remembered quite a bit, painful memories but he was sure to instill the essence of the emotion into me before he died. How his father a kind but troubled man was pushed beyond reason by them. His mother barely got him out of the capital after Halen met with an accident. Now you’re doubting me, I wasn’t there but he told me the tales and my grandmother, old as she was backed him up and filled in the details to me he was too young to remember. She wasn’t too close to the ruling side of things but King Hallen took her to bed and married her, he performed the ceremony himself. Sadly there is no paperwork and granny did admit she was not the only wife Halen took in secret in this fashion but none of the others got out of the capital before the purge. I could have just put the tales down to the ramblings of those who had seen too much in their time but even the facts made public make no sense. It is my duty to remove the insidious treasonous cancer that festers in the throneroom of this country. I have no crown, or scepter, no treasury or armies to back my claim but I have the truth and unlike those who stand and claim to be my betters I can go to my grave knowing even if I have not succeeded I gave it my all. I am not Gallen Baran of the Heartland, I am Gallen of House Darius, true heir and rightful ruler of Talingarde.” Seeing the fear in Gregors eyes Gallen made a placating gesture. “Apologies, my nerves are frayed and I am weary. I have watched men and women die I called friend, I would not lie and call them good but they had conviction, surely that counts for something. I will not be shackled by the illusions of the followers of Mithra that have clouded the minds of my ancestors, I have clarity, even if you put no stock in my heritage and we did just meat in unfortunate circumstance so I will forgive you for that, consider the history you have been indoctrinated in, see the lies Gregor, question the inconsistencies and ask yourself, what if I am right?”

How did they catch him? His plot to steal a lock of a member of the royal family with the aid of an infernally aligned cult was uncovered.
Whats next? Gallen wants to assume his rightful place in the world and stop the manipulation of the self righteous church of Iomedae and the usurper royal family.

Will a stacked archetype pose a problem for multi-classing?
And you can choose an Archetype for the multi-classed class...I have scoured the boards for this question, never seen it properly answered

How could it possibly do so in the first place? So long as the rule of applying archetypes (that no class feature may be altered more than once) holds, no amount of archetypes would overlap at any point by definition, whether across a single class or multiple ones.

Dark Archive

played in a home game where th DM only allowed 1 archetype...just making sure that was his preference and not a written rule I was missing somewhere...

By the way How do you personally label Breath of Life...I have read boards where James Jacobs has house-ruled it Cure deadly wounds "as he intended"

At 2nd level "a chirurgeon’s extracts of cure spells automatically act as infusions, and can be used by non-alchemists"

At 10th level a chirurgeon adds breath of life to his 5th level extracts and "it acts as his curative infusions"...does breath of life qualify for use with healing bomb

Yeah, the "only one archetype" thing is a house rule. Not RAW and I don't have it. It knocking your other GM; I've seen it elsewhere, too.

I'd be willing to treat Breath of Life as a Cure ***** Wounds spell.

Yokaiboy, if an archetype causes the familiar to lose the ability to communicate but something about being an improved familiar conveys the same or similar ability (by virtue of being intelligent and having the necessary biology for vocalizations), then it can still communicate.

I think that answers your question. If not, please break it down for me.

Lot of good submissions and questions coming through. I like it.

SPECIAL ABILITIES
--------------------
Attempted Murder Affyria tried to kill someone and botched the job. To be sent to Branderscar Prison, she did not try to kill just anyone. She assaulted someone of great importance and prominence. Punishment: Death by beheading. Benefit: You gain a +2 trait bonus to Intimidate checks, and Intimidate is always a class skill for you.
Channel Evil 1d4 (5/day, DC 12) (Su) At 1st level, a fiendish vessel, rather than channeling positive or negative energy, instead channels the pure evil power of her fiendish patron. This ability is similar to channeling negative energy, but instead of healing undead and dealing damage to living creatures, this blast of evil energy automatically heals evil creatures and debilitates good creatures within its burst.
Channeling this evil causes a burst that affects all creatures in a 30-foot radius centered on the fiendish vessel. In the case of evil creatures, the amount of damage healed is equal to 1d4 points of damage and increases by 1d4 at every two levels beyond 1st (to a maximum of 10d4 at 19th level). Good creatures in the burst receive a Will saving throw to negate this damage. Good creatures that fail their saving throws are sickened for 1d4 rounds. Good creatures with a number of Hit Dice less than or equal to the fiendish vessel's class level - 5 that fail their saving throws are nauseated for 1 round and then sickened for 1d4 rounds instead. The DC of this save is equal to 10 + 1/2 the fiendish vessel's level + the fiendish vessel's Charisma bonus. Neutral creatures are unaffected by this burst of evil energy.
A fiendish vessel may channel this energy a number of times per day equal to 3 + her Charisma modifier. Doing so is a standard action that does not provoke attacks of opportunity. A fiendish vessel can choose whether or not to include herself in this effect. A fiendish vessel must present her unholy symbol or use her familiar as the divine focus for this ability. For the purposes of feats that affect channel energy, this ability counts as channeling negative energy. If the feat changes the way the fiendish vessel channels or deals damage with her channeling, use the amount of damage this ability heals evil creatures to determine the damage-dealing potential of the affected ability. For instance, if a 5th-level fiendish vessel takes the Channel Smite feat, her channeling deals an additional 3d4 points of damage to living creatures on a successful hit (though they may save to negate the damage).
This ability replaces channel energy.
Dark Magic Affinity Affyria has an instinctive talent for unleashing the vilest spells, letting the taint in her blood empower her malicious magic. Whenever she casts a spell with the evil descriptor, she acts as if she were one level higher for the purpose of determining that spell's effects.
Darkvision (60 feet) You can see in the dark (black and white only).
Fiendish Summoning When casting summon monster spells, a fiendish vessel is limited to summoning fiendish creatures and evil outsiders of the same alignment as her patron.
Focused Domain A theologian chooses only one domain from her deity's portfolio rather than the normal two domains. All level-dependent effects of the granted powers from the theologian's domain function as if she were two cleric levels higher than her actual cleric level. This does not allow her to gain domain-granted powers earlier than normal. A theologian can prepare domain spells using her nondomain slots. She cannot use her spontaneous casting ability on domain spells, even if they are prepared in nondomain slots. In all other respects, this works like and replaces the standard cleric domain ability.
Foul Brand Affyria has the symbol of an evil deity burned into her flesh. If the symbol is on her hand, she takes a –1 penalty on Disable Device, Disguise, and Sleight of Hand checks. If the symbol is on her face, she takes a –2 penalty on Bluff, Diplomacy, and Disguise checks. This does not count as a holy symbol for the purposes of a divine focus for spellcasting.
Hell's Corruption (1 round, 8/day) (Su) You can cause a creature to become more susceptible to corruption as a melee touch attack. Creatures touched take a –2 penalty on all saving throws and must roll all opposed skill checks twice, taking the worse result. This effect lasts for a number of rounds equal to 1/2 your cleric level (minimum 1). You can use this ability for a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier.
Hero Points Hero Points can be spent at any time to grant a variety of bonuses.
Liar’s Tongue Thanks to her friendly mien and sly tongue, Affyria's lies are often believed. She gains a +1 trait bonus on Bluff checks, and Bluff is a class skill for her.
Prehensile Tail Your tail can retrieve small objects on your person as a swift action.

BACKGROUND
--------------------
Affyria sank down onto the white marble floor, as she felt the life drain from her. She clenched her fist, sticky with her own blood. She chuckled, which ended in a blood-choked cough as she grimaced in pain. “This is so stupid, why couldn’t that cursed priest just die,” Affyria muttered.
--------------------
Affyria Strex grew up in Ghastenhall, sheltered by her mother. She never knew her father, even though she often questioned her mother about him, whom never revealed anything about him. A human woman giving birth to a half-fiend raises questions, especially in Talingarde, where such a thing can easily bring trouble to one’s doorstep. Her mother, who worked as a tailor, shielded her daughter from the outside world, home-schooling her as best she could. Naturally, as Affyria grew up, she became more and more curious about her own lineage, which drove her to do her own research. She started reading historical books, mainly ones that detailed King Markadian IV’s Asmodean purges. Twenty-eight years ago, which matches Affyria’s age, so she concluded that whoever her father was, he must have belonged to the cult of Asmodeus. Even though her efforts to locate any of its surviving members all failed, she managed to get her hands on outlawed tomes, such as the Asmodean Monograph, the Script of Flies, and even the Book of the Damned. Pouring over these tomes, Affyria became well-versed in Asmodean religion, and slightly obsessed with the figure at the base of it all, the Prince of Darkness, Asmodeus himself.

It went so far that Affyria eventually came to the conclusion that Asmodeus herself was her father, and that she was conceived to put an end to the Mitran regime in Talingarde. One fateful night, Affyria heated up a knife and branded the palm of her hand with an upside down pentagram, Asmodeus’ holy symbol. That night, she set herself upon an irreversible path. Traveling to the capital, she sought out the Grand Cathedral of Mitra, the center of their religion in Talingarde. Her heavy cloak shielded most of her features as she entered the imposing building and sought out the high priest.

As she presented herself before him, she removed her cloak and grinned, showing off her needle-like teeth. “I have come to confess my sins, priest,” Affyria said. The high priest looked surprised and took a few steps back. “What… Who are you?” Affyria then took out a dagger and brandished it before him. “The kingdom shall be his,” she snarled, and lashed out at the priest. He stumbled backwards and somehow tripped over his own legs, narrowly avoiding Affyria’s slash. She was aware of people around her shouting and running, but she only had eyes for the priest, crawling away from her. “It is useless to resist, priest, the reign of your god is over, and we will all be delivered fro-” Affyria gasped, as she looked down, a bloodied crossbow bolt sticking out of her chest.
--------------------
Affyria coughed again, and she tasted her own blood. She'd dragged herself a few feet back, and was leaning on the altar steps now. Looking to her right, she saw a man walking towards her determinedly, crossbow in hand. His white tabard depicted a sunburst. When he reached Affyria, he lowered the crossbow and knelt before her. The man looked at her, her horns, and her abnormal teeth. He grabbed her hand and studied the burn mark Affyria had given herself. Closing his eyes for a moment, he nodded. He pulled out the crossbow bolt in a quick, trained manner, and placed his glowing hands on the wound, which immediately began to close rapidly. “I forgive you, devil-child, but I fear that you will be sentenced harshly either way.” The high priest approached them, straightening his clothes. “It's the headman's axe for you, little girl. Mitra have mercy on your soul.” Affyria spat a gob of blood onto the pristine marble floor and grinned at the both of them. “Hail Asmodeus.”

Physical description:
--------------------
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
--------------------
Affyria is obviously a creature touched by one of the outsider races. She's of average height, perhaps slightly underweight, with pale skin and blood-red eyes. Her copper red hair is thin and wispy, and does nothing to conceal two large black horns protruding from her forehead, almost reminiscent of a dragon. When she opens her mouth, her teeth reveal themselves to be sharp and needle-like, and her lips are chapped. She has a short, determined stride, and she possesses a strange-looking tail that sways as she walks. Her left hand bears an ugly, weeping scar, resembling an upside down pentagram, and a large portion of her forearms are riddled with badly healed self-harm scars. Affyria usually dresses in a combination of leather vests or corsets, combined with flowing silk skirts, accompanied by knee-length leather boots.

So, my internet was acting up last night, so I wasn't able to completely finalize my submission. Tonight, though, I'll have it up.

Price is all squared away, I think. Thanks for considering her!

Silver Crusade

I'd like to present Ferric Gundermarc, male human psychic, for consideration. Stats in the profile.

Backstory:
Ferric never felt a part of his family. The Gundermarc family was well known in Talingarde for centuries as a stalwart orthodox Mitran force, all-too-willing to do the bidding of Mitra over all other masters. That House Barca made the calls made little difference to the Gundermarcs - it was Mitra’s will. The Gundermarcs prided themselves on their human lineage, all the way back to Daveryn - though always through the church, never as nobility.

The dirty secret of their consorting through the ages with half-elves was well-covered, for how would a half half-elf be shown to be anything other than a Gundermarc if there were no outward features? And when there were, the babies were quietly given over to other families to look after.

Ferric and Chandler Gundermarc were the two sons of Gilchrist Gundermarc, a dearly-departed holy warrior of Mitra. Gilchrist drowned when the boys were young men, attempting to save a family in a capsized merchant vessel. The boys were raised with all intents for them to follow their father in the Mitran doctrine, but where Chandler thrived, Ferric floundered.

In reality, Ferric was possessed with strange voices in his mind and stranger powers. His first psychic emanations occurred when he was ten years old, and as they grew stronger, Ferric withdrew further into the vibrant playground of his mind. He seemed to only have time or interest in his brother Chandler, and only seemed to be truly outwardly happy when with his brother.

At the age of sixteen, Chandler was accepted as a holy warrior of Mitra into the church. Ferric, at age fifteen, was seen as a prematurely-balding disappointment, but attended Chandler’s confirmatory ceremony. It was here that Ferric’s psychic powers truly became untapped - literally. Suffering the teasing and bullying remarks of some of Chandler’s friends, Ferric lost control of his temper and drenched the two cruel boys with gallons of water drawn from seemingly-nowhere. One of the boys nearly drowned as Ferric fell on him, pinning him and deluging him with water, all the while staring intently into his eyes, what little hair he had shivering off his scalp as the spectacle unraveled.

Chandler’s confirmation was halted; Ferric was rushed to a Mitran healer. The healer deemed that Ferric was devil-possessed and recommended a harsh set of “treatments” to “set his soul right”. Chandler and Ferric’s mother, Malarta, relented quickly, thinking that she didn’t want to lose another of her dear Gundermarc boys.

The cleric wasn’t too wrong in his assessment. Ferric was possessed - or rather, as he sees it, gifted - by the half-elven and elven souls far-removed from the Gundermarcs through generations, and forgotten and covered-up by his family: the Asmodean faithful. Ferric was placed in a Mitran sanctuary and "treated" with harsh physical and mental means to purge the evil from his person.

It has been 4 years, and Chandler has gained and grown within the Mitran church, his confirmation completed and his holy warrior training begun. He has not forgotten his brother in this time, however, spending hours and days in concert with his largely-incarcerated brother. Ferric has spent the 4 years growing further inward, his psychic emanations becoming clearer to him as the wards of his family’s past speak to him. Ferric has completely rejected his mother, as he blames her for his jailed state, and he has kindled a deep and abiding hatred for Mitra, in whose name his “treatments” have progressed. He only retains patience for his brother, and even this has been strained as he watches Chandler become a tool for the force that he hates the most in this world.

The culmination of Ferric’s time in the Mitran sanctuary under the “treatment” directed by Sir Balin of Karfeld ended in the night that Ferric succeeded in summoning an imp to his side in his cell/dormitory. Discovered summoning evil outsiders inside a Mitran holy place, the sentence and damnation was swift, and Ferric was thrown in prison after being sentenced to death for being a recidivist criminal and an untameably dark-maligned soul.

Special Abilities:
Brawler's Cunning If the brawler’s Intelligence score is less than 13, it counts as 13 for the purpose of meeting the prerequisites of combat feats.
Martial FlexibilityA brawler can take a move action to gain the benefit of a combat feat she doesn’t possess. This effect lasts for 1 minute. The brawler must meet all the feat’s prerequisites. She may use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + 1/2 her brawler level (minimum 1). 3

The brawler can use this ability again before the duration expires in order to replace the previous combat feat with another choice.

If a combat feat has a daily use limitation (such as Stunning Fist), any uses of that combat feat while using this ability count toward that feat’s daily limit.

At 6th level, a brawler can use this ability to gain the benefit of two combat feats at the same time. She may select one feat as a swift action or two feats as a move action. She may use one of these feats to meet a prerequisite of the second feat; doing so means that she cannot replace a feat currently fulfilling another’s prerequisite without also replacing those feats that require it. Each individual feat selected counts toward her daily uses of this ability.

At 10th level, a brawler can use this ability to gain the benefit of three combat feats at the same time. She may select one feat as a free action, two feats as a swift action, or three feats as a move action. She may use one of the feats to meet a prerequisite of the second and third feats, and use the second feat to meet a prerequisite of the third feat. Each individual feat selected counts toward her daily uses of this ability.

At 12th level, a brawler can use this ability to gain the benefit of one combat feat as an immediate action or three combat feats as a swift action. Each individual feat selected counts toward her daily uses of this ability.

At 20th level, a brawler can use this ability to gain the benefit of any number of combat feats as a swift action. Each feat selected counts toward her daily uses of this ability.
Martial TrainingAt 1st level, a brawler counts her total brawler levels as both fighter levels and monk levels for the purpose of qualifying for feats. She also counts as both a fighter and a monk for feats and magic items that have different effects based on whether the character has levels in those classes (such as Stunning Fist and a monk’s robe). This ability does not automatically grant feats normally granted to fighters and monks based on class level, namely Stunning Fist.
Unarmed StrikeAt 1st level, a brawler gains Improved Unarmed Strike as a bonus feat. A brawler may attack with fists, elbows, knees, and feet. This means that a brawler may make unarmed strikes with her hands full. A brawler applies her full Strength modifier (not half ) on damage rolls for all her unarmed strikes.

Usually, a brawler’s unarmed strikes deal lethal damage, but she can choose to deal nonlethal damage instead with no penalty on her attack roll. She has the same choice to deal lethal or nonlethal damage while grappling.

A brawler’s unarmed strike is treated as both a manufactured weapon and a natural weapon for the purpose of spells and effects that modify either manufactured weapons or natural weapons.

Description: Clyde is a large and obese man who is shaved bald and has a nose that seems too pointed and big for his face, his eyes are dark and beady. Clyde dresses in loose clothes of brown and black pretty much everywhere.

Backstory:Always an obese child, Clyde was the son of a man who eventually worked himself to death and had little time for Clyde, not that he was cruel, but that he was home so little that Clyde often wandered and to escape the harassment of the other children he found himself a hiding place near an old well where he
would gaze at nothing and listen to the lapping of water in the well.

When he was a teen, his father's heart gave out and Clyde couldn't afford anything other than a pauper's grave and with the last thread holding him to his birthplace gone he wandered once again to the well with a gnawing emptiness in his heart. How long he sat there he didn't know, he just felt crushing loss and a void that might have led to suicide but as he let himself be enveloped in the darkness, he heard slight whispers from the well and felt if not comfort, but a slight surcease, something that dulled his pain somewhat. when a mangy cat hopped down from the well's lip and stared into his eyes,
he knew of a way to slather numbness on his pain if just for a moment. And so Clyde vanished into the darkness.

Clyde eventually found himself in , finding work as a cook helped focus himself and the dribs and drabs of food kept the void inside
at bay. He does wish to seek opportunities to hone his abilities, for he knows that he will need to be strong to continue his journey, someplace that
has been in the back of his mind for a long time. North

I have played WoTW before, furthest I have gotten is midway (I guess) through the second book.

Here's my submission, Daidalos Icarum. I'll still be editing it as time goes on (particularly expanding the backstory), but these are the essentials.

Dark Archive

GM I think what Yokaiboy is saying is that Improved Familiars don't technically have the "Speak with their kind" ability that taking a familiar archetype trades away...which is one of the reasons why improved familiars don't qualify for archetypes...but it seems that the magical child familiar isn't truly an improved familiar...I guess what it depends on is if it gains the "speak with others of its kind" of the animal it appears to manifest as...wow very interesting power...in all my searches of improved familiars and gaining archetypes, I have never come upon this..

Here is my submission, a blaster/control/necromancer arcanist(twilight Sage).

The woman smooths the front of her dress, sits down demurely (ankles crossed like a proper lady), and digs into her bag. She pulls out an embroidery hoop. Lightly humming, she deftly dips her sewing needle trailing red silk thread in and out of the pale fabric. In and out. In and out. She'd finished the dainty entwined flowers along the border of the piece some time ago. Now she was working on the motto, in blood-red stitchery, at the center. When finished, it would read: We are each our own devil, and we make this world our hell. She continues to hum pleasantly, content with her progress.

Hey all. Sorry for not being quick on the responses the last 48 hours. I was supposed to fly out for a business meeting last night, but both of my flights (the original and backup) were canceled and now I'm slammed at work on a fire drill. I should be able to catch up tomorrow night.

Lilith, thanks for clarifying. That's very helpful.

So, based on this:

Quote:
Improved familiars otherwise use the rules for regular familiars, with two exceptions: if the creature’s type is something other than animal, its type does not change; and improved familiars do not gain the ability to speak with other creatures of their kind (although many of them already have the ability to communicate).

...if it doesn't have the ability to be replaced by the archetype, then I don't think the archetype can be applied. I'd let a familiar archetype be applied provided the improved familiar had the abilities the archetype was replacing.

Hope that does it.

A faint sizzling sound comes from the kitchen followed with a very attractive scene of cooking garlic and onion. Those who follow their noses see an obese man working over the stove. He is bald and his pointed nose twitches over the pots and pans as he deftly minces and sets a pot to simmering.

His large hands easily snap some uncooked pasta in two and drop it into a pot, his head turns towards the door and his beady black eyes seem to be sunken pits in his skull.

Dinner should be ready in a bit, I am sure this will satisfy everyone's hunger. He then ignores anything other than his work.

While we're waiting for recruitment to close...

Hors d'Oeuvres

I'm going to withdraw for consideration as I'm not getting the inspiration to really flesh out my character. There are so many excellent characters here, I'm sorry to miss the opportunity. Have fun!

Angelyn of whitecrest / the devil of Swanford

“May Mitra have mercy upon your wretched, damned soul.”
were the last words Sir Balin of Karfeld spoke to the girl that had terrorised the city of Swanford for weeks. Her reply surprised him as it wasn't something any of the the heretics bevor had offered as excuse or insult.
"Mitra had denied me his mercy when I need it the most, when I prayed and hoped, why would he give it now"

---

Angelyn was born into a family of minor nobles. Her mother knew how to handle the energetic and often whimsical child, with much love and quite a bit cleverness.

Everything was well until Angelyn's mother fell I'll. When it turned out to be serious, her father asked for a healer to come, when the priest's magic failed he asked for another one. It went like that for weeks, more important and powerful clerics coming each weak, and each of them fail to improve her condition, while her daughter offered prayer after prayer at her bedside.

When her mother finally died Angelyn's grief turned into anger, why had Mitra the most powerful of all the gods refused to safe her mothers life? Why had he betrayed those who where fateful to him? Thus the young girl swore vengeance. As Mitra himself was out of her reach (for now) she directed her rage at those following him directly, his priesthood. Angelyn spend all her free time training in secret to be ready one day to reap vengeance.

When the day she felt ready finally came , she snuck out of the mansion, that felt cold and empty without her mother, armed and Masked to hunt down the servants of the traitor good. As luck would have it she stumbled upon a lone priest, just on his way back from the bad part of town to the temple. So she struck as the cleric passed the alleyway she was hiding in, the blade of her rapier barely missed his vitals, sliding of a rip and causing a nasty stomach wound. Panicked Angelyn retreated, before the stunned priest could raise alarm. When she heard nothing crys of alarm, she decided to investigate and check if the priest might have died from his wound. Following the  bloody tracks without much trouble she found the wounded cleric, who seemed to have tried to heal the wound with what little magic he had remaining, who was barely able to keep on walking. Not willing to waste the oppertunity she struck again, inflicting a deep cut on his leg and retreated again, this time observing his struggles. Striking again and again each time it seemed like the cleric got his hopes up. When he stopped moving she walked up to him, turned him on his back with a foot and looked into his face, seeing the hope die in his eyes she finished him off with two quick cuts, having him bleed out on the cobblestones of the road.

She continued her hunts, finding prey roughly once a week as she was careful and the followers of Mitra got more careful as well. Angelyn was delighted when the rumors of the devil of Swanford reached her. Unbeknownst to her by this time Sir Balin of Karfeld, renown Witch hunter, had been called. Her hunts came to an end when her blade met armor under the robes instead of flesh. Angelyn almost managed to escape from the disguise solider and his reinforcements, using every trick and holdout she had.

After she was unmasked it was decided to keep the true identity of the devil of Swanford a secret, to not embarrass her family, after they were cleared of all suspicion. Angelyn was declared dead and send to burnscar.

Personality
Calculating and hedonistic
Reacts very badly towards betrayal  (especially for supperiors) extends the same kind of loyalty towards those following her.
Doesn't not worship any god.
Will lie or kill without hesitation to reach her goals.

Looks
Social:
Longarm flowing hair framing a cute face with amber eyes and a small nose. She moves with the effortlessly grace and implicidness of a cat. She wears a beautiful dress that accents her lite frame and is easy to move in.

Vigilante:
She wears a mask covering her eyes and the upper part of her face, it wouldn't look out of place at a mask ball at Some estate. Her black hair is styled to look like horns or the ears of a cat. She walks fluid and effortless like an apex predator, sure in her superiority over everything before her. She wears a black cloak hiding much of her body, what is visible is clothed in dark fabric.

Silver Crusade

I forgot to add my Appearance.

Appearance:
Ferric is short for a human - just under 5 and a half feet tall. He is young, at 19 years of age. He appears slim, almost gaunt, and has pale and clear skin. His captivating green eyes and delicate feminine facial features would make him quite attractive in most circles. His blonde hair has largely deserted the top of his head, and hangs in untended shag around his ears and the back of his neck. Ferric has very light peach fuzz on his chin, but has not grown facial hair well. Ferric wears the Mitran robes of a supplicant because that's what he was given to wear. In his younger days, he wore what he was told to wear - he didn't particularly care for outward decor or grooming, and had to be prodded to do the bare minimum. He would much rather focus on his mental grooming.

A curious aspect of Ferric's appearance is the constantly-wet appearance of his lips, as well as the wet and clammy feel of his hands. This stems from Ferric's compulsive use of create water, the first psychic power gifted to him through his woke ancestral powers. He uses this multiple times an hour to re-wet his mouth and hands, mainly out of sight of other prying eyes, as a coping mechanism with the anxiety gripping his being.

Thanks all.

Hey, by the way, I'm making a spreadsheet of the applicants. It's by no means done, but I'm going to eventually have a link to everyone's submission, alignment, class/race, and crime.

is my application missing something?

I've not gotten a chance to be evil. Is there still a chance for me to enter the running?

You have a little over half a day left till the deadline.

Hmm recent work/accomodation events meant I'm not able to devote as much time to my application as I would have liked, but Way of the Wicked recruitment happens so infrequently I'd never be able to forgive myself if I didn't put something together.

Here is Avodhur, Blood Arcanist.

Backstory:

For Avodhur, finding a reason to hate Mitra wasn’t particularly difficult. With a father, cultist of Asmodeus heavily targeted in the early purges, Avodhur loathed the Shining Lord and all he stood for. It would have been justified, perhaps, if the worshipers of Mitra had found a particular cause to hate the Lord of Order, but Avodhur couldn’t understand his fathers patron being turned into a scapegoat for the entire nations problems. It was lazy, it was unfair, and Avodhur hated them for it.

After losing his family in the reprisals against the worships of Asmodeus, Avodhur kept to the shadows, hiding in the outskirts of the city, keeping to himself, trying to avoid capture and doing all he could to find revenge. He found that he had a talent for wordplay, an inhuman desire to twist people into spotting his way of viewing things. A vast manipulator, Avodhur turned a bunch of likeminded fellows into a small sect of worshipers, before travelling abroad. In places such as Verochanza, Avodhur was able to find interest in his plans to derail the city, and restore Asmodeus back at the rightful religion of the city. He began to grow more arrogant, more secure that more and more people believed as he dead, confident that his silver tongue could charm anyone into seeing his vision. He was wrong.
Avodhur was finally tracked down by the host of the Shining Lord, and sentenced to the crime of Sedition. Sentenced to the infamous Prision, Avodhur vowed to himself that he would not lose the faith or falter, he would find a way to turn the situation into his advantage and then finally turn around and crush those that had sought to bury him beneath the heal. It was time for revenge.

Oops! Nope, you're good. Thanks for pointing that out. This is why I post those.

Rungok, you have until 8pm (Eastern/New York) tonight.

Best of luck to everyone!

Doesn't look like I'll have quite enough time to finish the spreadsheet before recruitment closes, but it should be editable if anyone else wants to, or a new submission comes in.

Don't worry about it, Daedalus; I've got one I'm using already. Thanks though!
