Well, yeah, it is kinda safe option. But it is also powerful storytelling tool, especially if you want to contrast and compare the hero and villain. They do that for a reason. Abomination is Hulk without any morality, just destroying stuff for fun, ie how Thunderbolt Ross and most of the world sees him, and by beating him he proves not to be this. Same for Tony Stark; Warmonger is evil capitalist who exploits people and gets rich on the cost of human life- the thing the reporter accused Tony being at the start of the movie and what Tony struggles with in the movie.
Is it overused? Yeah, definitely. But it also works if done right. And since Killmonger's goal seems to be "Wakanda is not working, time for new ruler and new rules" and T'Challa struggling with being a good king and a good man, making villain a Black Panther-like costume is just visual continuation of that theme.
The other thing to remember is that in comics lore, "Black Panther" is not a superhero name, but a title and duty of the rightful King of Wakanda. If Killmonger is making a grab for the throne, then it is only fitting he is claiming to be the rightful Black Panther as well. In that case, an "evil Black Panther" makes sense.

I'll hug him, and pet him, and squeeze him, and call him George!

Pretty much. With no Blade the Superhero movie genre would have died out.

I'll be honest, I wasn't really impressed with Blade, but that may have had more to do with the fact I was burning out on the whole 'vampire-stuff is KEWL' phase than anything else.
...no, I know Blade's history, it just felt kind of 'flat' and that wasn't the actor's fault.

Blade 1 and 2 where really good. (The beginning scene for the first blade I could just watch over and over for some reason in my head he kills like 30 vampires but re watching it I think its like 3-6)
blade 3 was Ryan Reynolds insulting vampires for 15 minutes and poorly choreographed fight scenes.
Ryan Reynolds insulting vampires well.

[tangent] I loved Blade 1. The villain vampires (Deacon, Mercury, Quinn) were all fun characters and / or had interesting visuals (I just recently rewatched it and was surprised that it was Donal Logue playing Quinn), which made it more fun when the hero took them out. Contrast with the potentially interesting vampire 'best of the best' elite hit squad introduced in the next movie, and then killed off 25 seconds later...
About the only cool thing I remember from Blade 3 was an interview where Jessica Biel told the stunt crew that she actually knew how to use a bow, and when they had the point-of-view shot where the arrow seems to be coming right at the camera, they put a barrier between her and the camera, with a tiny hole for the lens, and just told her to aim for the hole, 'she'd never hit it, from that far away.'
She proved them wrong, and destroyed a 35,000 dollar camera.
(And probably needed to buy the camera guy some new pants!) [/tangent]
Anywho, I'm glad we've got Boseman for the Black Panther. Wesley Snipes has just a tad more swagger than I want for the King of Wakanda.
I want the Black Panther to be someone who doesn't always look as dangerous as he is, with a sort of human layer over the scary panther dude underneath. I haven't seen Snipes in a lot (Demolition Man, the Blade movies), but he seems more intense and 'on' 24/7. All scary cat, no friendly façade over it.

I'm not saying he seems like a great person but I can see the course. Already kind of rough (I mean action star and you know intimidating fellow) Hits some hard times and amplifies how bad the situation already is.
Something bad happens and you can react in a constructive way or a destructive way and it all depends on your outlook. A-holes tend to make things worse. I don't think hes a complete a-hole, but whatever was going on at the time made him seem like one.
I guess that could apply to everyone all the time. I guess I'll just go with benefit of the doubt for most people most of the time.
Wow I'm way off topic
So how about the panther suit? flippin sweet right?
