Hi,
I was just wondering on people's thoughts on this one.
I'm a bit of a thespian I like to try immerse myself in my character and if "English " isn't their native tongue and they are speaking "English "I try to do an accent for what I feel their native tongue sounds like.
In this case I always thought in Irrisen people living more in the cities have a Russian sounding accent and those who are Ulfen and live tribes sound more Scandinavian.
What are people's thoughts on this ? What does the language sound like ?

Well, the ruling class are the Jadwiga, taken from the name of the first queen placed on the throne by Baba Yaga, and Jadwiga is Polish name by origin, so...
That said, there are other ways of spelling related names from other Slavik countries.

The native Ulfen would likely be Russian or some kind of Slavic, and have their own dialect of Skald that would be completely different to the more "Scandinavian" Skald of the Ulfen of the Linnorm Kings.
I thought the Ulfen were Norse folk (cf land of Linnorm Kings) and that the Russian kind culture had been introduced by Baba Yaga and her folk?

This is true, but remember that even if the Ulfen of the area of Irrisen started out more Norse, Irrisen has been under Baba Yaga's heel for roughly 1,400 years. That's a long time for cultural evolution.

Irrisen is a weird one.
Ulfen and the geographical position would point towards a scandinavian language, while Baba Yaga and her change to the culture would points to a mix of Poland, Russia and Ukraine. I lea towards the Finnland/Russia boarder region for this, pointing towards having a "low" and "high" language at the same time.
