Have you ever played a Reptoid?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Have you ever played a Reptoid, those shape-shifting reptilian infiltrators from Bestiary 5?

Bonus 1- And done so without telling the party you're a Reptoid?

Bonus 2- While pretending to change characters every few sessions when there's downtime, but really just being the same Reptoid swapping disguises?

Bonus 3- Had to use the line, "Oh no, I've been transformed into a lizardfolk/Nagaji!"?

I'm afraid not. Sounds like it could be fun though.

I've had other players straight up lie to everyone about their character's race before. They weren't reptoids though. Rather, they were playing a much more broken monster; one of the many perks for sleeping with the GM.

*sigh*

Change Shape (Su) A reptoid can assume the appearance of a specific single Medium humanoid. The reptoid always takes this specific form when it uses this ability. The reptoid gains a +10 racial bonus on Disguise checks to appear as that type of humanoid. This ability otherwise functions as alter self, except the reptoid does not adjust its ability scores. A reptoid can select a new humanoid form by spending 1 week preparing itself for the change, but can then no longer assume its previous humanoid form.

How do you change shape into more than one humanoid??? Their racial ability specifically limits you to one form.

It's in the description you just quoted... "A reptoid can select a new humanoid form by spending 1 week preparing itself for the change, but can then no longer assume its previous humanoid form."

Ha. Seems I misremembered the ability, and upon looking it up again, didn't read it to the end. *facepalm*

Doing it as a kitsune isn't out of the question either, but most kitsune will either only have the one look for good, or have Realist Guise and should be using their changing for infiltration and such far more often.

no but i've always wondered what it would be like to play a mimic XD

Yep! A reptoid Psychic Searcher [lunar] oracle, with deep one curse and a pet croc. When it grows up, she'll ride her.

Of course! I was a 'human' that took the shape of the 'divine reptile' to fight her enemies. Nothing says intimidation like changing from a tiny girl into a towering 7' reptile with teeth and claws....

Nope! I took the Human Guise feat so I could take human options. I was going loli caster all the way and it doesn't hurt I get the FCB for free spells.

LOL No it was more like "The sacred claws of the mighty Taniwha shall rend you!!" ;)

Hah, that is awesome, Graystone :)

So far she's been fun but because of life getting in the way I haven't had the chance to play her much. However it had been hilarious to see the other players trying to figure out what she is since I have abilities from several classes [companion, inspiration, spells, change shape, ect]. The best part was when she won the test of strength even though she looks like she's an 80 lb tween. The barbarian looked sad when I boasted that I didn't even have to change into the divine lizard to beat him. ;)

It's also fun to be clumsy [low dex] but have a good AC. I spill things or trip after nothing but I seem to do it at the right time to avoid getting hit. Then she'll talk with her croc Nettle whenever she uses inspiration. "What do you think Nettle... You don't say... oh, that's what it is..." LOL Of course she claims the croc is the smart one and knows the answers.

Sigh... I really want to play her again sometime soon.

Yea, that sounds really entertaining ^^

Oooh, another idea- a game where every player is a Reptoid, but don't know it. The DM's told each of them they're the only one and that they're not supposed to reveal it.
