Starting the Banquet and the Preview portion of the night. Sadly, my wifi connection isn't the best, but I'll do what I can to let you know what's what.

Lisa Stevens open up at the mic to welcome guests and give the overview of the event.

Erik Mona is the MC tonight. Btw, this is PaizoCon's 10th anniversary. It was started by Tim Nightingale and Liz Courts, who were just superfans who wanted to do a thing. They invited Paizo Staff and had it in the basement of the La Quinta Inn. Erik holds up the plaque that was given to Paizo from the fans 10 years ago. He acknowledged the fans who make this event possible.

Erik thanks the team and volunteers who makes PaizoCon go. (It's true...this is a lot of work. I've seen it. It's amazing how much time and energy they put into things. My banquet table had Owen KC Stephens at my table and he was really open about talking about StarFinder. I hope to do a full download of what I remember later tonight...but also that may be affected by my faulty memory and/or booze.)

Erik introduces and thanks the Paizo staff, introducing them. (Too many to coherently list here.)

Btw, banquet food was tasty and plentiful. I ate it happily as Owen spoke of Finding Stars and all the good stuff.

Lone Shark Games

Had to run home and miss the banquet, but my man Erik has my back. Y'all enjoy yourselves, y'hear?

Woah, there is a lot of staff at Paizo who do a ton of stuff to make things go. I don't always experience it all because there is so much that I don't know or don't see, but I know it exists. Hey, even accounting gets a shout out. And Wes Schneider gets a shout out as well.

Erik talks about the Guests of Honor: Amber Scott, Remko Troost (artist guest), & Spencer Crittenden (Game Master). Special guests: Chris Avellone, Ben Loomes (Syrincape), & Mike Selinker. Greg Vaughan & Neil Spicer.

(It's pretty cool to be able to get face time with some or most of these guests when they are here. It's one of the perks of being here is that the guests are pretty accessible.)

There are lots and lots of credits...get to spoilers when...uh, I dunno...soon...

James L Sutter to discuss Starfinder and discusses the StarFinder product by introducing the team. There are some spiral bound rule books around for Starfinder.

Holy plasma cannons were mentioned. And Owen has confirmed holy weapons as well.

Rob McCreary to speak, introduces the iconics. My ability to translate/spell names and races here are about zero. I hope others can get them...or you'll see them in a future-soon real blog post.

Today I learned: Starfinder androids have souls.

We get a screen pic of the races from the SFCRB. And then one of classes. Every class has a set of 4 sample builds. There is some artwork for these.

Amando to speak next...

She talks about character creation. She discusses character Themes, which is an easy to create chars. Ace Pilot, Bounty Hunter, Icoon, Merc, Outlaw, Priest, Scholar, Xenoseeker, Themeless, Spacefarer= 10 themes.

4/5 ****

Character themes kinda like traits.

Tactical rules chapter.

How to combat. Moves. Action economy. Actions etc

Huge chapter of spells. Magic missile is in.

4/5 ****

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Space goblins.

The Exchange 3/5

Amanda then speaks about tactical combats and how to navigate combats and the game.

She then talks about spells. Magic Missile still exists, yo.
Other spells: Logic Bomb, Memoing, Microbot Assault...gah...too small to read.

(Owen speaks now...)
Yes, there are space goblins. Space goblins are everywhere. Yes, demons, angel, and plasma cannons. Goblins get spaceships and rockets and guns.

There will feats., yes, like "pull the pin" feat...which allows you to pull the pin of antoher's grenades in combat.

Lots of guns: grenade launcher. Owen says there are pages and pages of equipment. Owen promises holy plasma cannons.

You can play a character that does not use/have magic at all. Equipment or cybernetics exist as well. Computers and what not.

Dwarves and elves exist too, but they are in space. Dwarves might mine asteroids.

Bone Sages?

Liberty's Edge 5/5 **

Character creation: Focused on being accessible and dynamic. Build the type of hero you want to portray. Customizable options for veteran players too. At the end, character themes (like traits). Mechanical perks based on character's background and interests. Example is ace pilot aka the Han Solo which gives bonus to piloting and things related to star ships.

Chapter 8: Tactical Rules. Combat stuff. How to run this game vs Pathfinder. Huge section of spells (including Pathfinder carry overs like magic missile). 10,000 words worth of spells. Example: Microbot Assault - summon a swarm of tiny hostile robots.

Chapter 7: Equipment - featuring goblins on spaceships. Cosmology is the same. Expect demons and angels with plasma cannons. The idea is to give players what's familiar with a new spin. Feat for pulling the pin on someone else's grenade. Lots of guns - suuuuuuper common. What do soldiers do against magic? Grenade launchers! Science is powerful. Cybernetics. Computer rules. Hacking.

Legacy section. Dwarves and elves... in space! Artwork for space dwarves featuring a mining pick and jet pack.

4/5 ****

Demons angels and plasma cannons.

Goblins get space ships rockets and lazer guns.

Grenades. Pull the pin feat to set off somebody elses grenade.

Guns super common.

How does a future fight deal with a spell caster?

Equipment. Cybernetics. Computers. Hacking.

Dwarves and elves are in space but are non core races.

The Exchange 3/5

There will be some large legacy section of how to adapt 'old' stuff to Starfinder, including adapting monsters to space.

Jason: Core conceit: even lvl 1 characters can have ships. Jason talks about ship to ship combat, starship boarding and fights.

Starships matter and you will have roles when there is ship to ship combat. Promises robust rules for ships and keeping them upgraded.

There will be a chapter on game mastering. Traps, terrains, planetary plants and what not.

James Sutter: Explains galaxy map. The Pact Worlds (Golarion Solar system).

A ballon, Castrovel, Absalom Station, Akiton, Verces, Imari, The Diaspora, Eox, Triaxus (Reign of Winter?), Liavara, Bretheda, Apostae, Aucturn. Chapter on all the planters and whatnot.

I only saw it briefly, but I think it was ORAS in Starfinder and Orcus in the Book of the Damned, different things, I think unless Orcus switched jobs after reading a copy of 'Who moved my cheese?'

Ultimate Wilderness is an upcoming hardcover.
