Weapon Cords and Meta Magic Rods

Rules Questions

Can I used a weapon Cord on a Meta Magic rod say an intensifying meta magic rod?

Physical Description: Rods weigh approximately 5 pounds. They range from 2 feet to 3 feet long and are usually made of iron or some other metal. (Many, as noted in their descriptions, can function as light maces or clubs because of their hardy construction.) These sturdy items have AC 9, 10 hit points, hardness 10, and a break DC of 27.

So, yes if it is stated the rod works as a weapon in its description.

Yes, don't really think which type of metamagic attached matters but yeah you can definitely use the cords on them (I think they can be used as maces anyway can't they?).

Liberty's Edge

They work as maces only if it is "noted in their descriptions". Those that don't say they can be used as maces, can't be used as maces or clubs, but only as improvised weapons.

Note that weapon cords have been changed from the original description:

PRD wrote:
Weapon Cord: Weapon cords are 2-foot-long leather straps that attach your weapon to your wrist. If you drop your weapon or are disarmed, you can recover it as a swift action, and it never moves any further away from you than an adjacent square. However, you cannot switch to a different weapon without first untying the cord (a full-round action) or cutting it (a move action or an attack, hardness 0, 0 hp). Unlike a locked gauntlet, you can still use a hand with a weapon cord, though a dangling weapon may interfere with finer actions.

The last paragraph say, to me, "you can have problems casting spells with somatic components if you are using that hand to do that". Essentially I would give the caster a small spell failure chance, probably 5%, like a buckler.

Makes sense.
