Dragonhide Armor Questions

Pathfinder Society

Before I even begin, I've checked the PRD, as well as on the forum (most posts on this are 2013 or further back).

So on my Druid I am looking to enhance my Armor Class, currently have 15 fame (as of this post), and am looking to do the following:

*Buy some sort of "Dragonhide" armor (preferably Medium Armor)
*Make it masterwork and enchance it to +1
*Imbue the "Wild Shape" spell into it so it can shift with my druid so I don't lose the AC when in Wild Shape.
*(optional) Fire Resistance (as I saw you can give a resistance)

Now as mentioned above I've looked at the PRD, as well as Ultimate Equipment (which I own), and it doesnt give any sort of modifiers or price to buying certain armors as Dragonhide. Additionally I'm not sure how much I would cost to make it masterwork and give it +1 as well as how much to give it Wildshape and if that works to not lose the AC bonus in wild shape form.

TLDR Version;

for the 4 points above: 1) Can I do them (as in possible or no) 2) How much $$$$ 3) Will it work the way im hoping it will (Re: Wild Shape)

Dragonhide pg49 of ultimate equipment, page 154 of core rulebook.

Dragonhide armor costs twice as much as masterwork armor of that type

So dragonhide breastplate is 700gp and is masterwork. (200+150)x2

making it a +1 costs 1000gp for total of 1700gp.

Adding wild to it so it works in wildshape is a +3 equivalent, or costing 15,000 more for total of 16,700gp, but this is only if you don't make the armor a +2 before trying to add wild, if it's a +2 before adding wild it's more expensive.

normally energy resistance costs 18,000gp, dragonhide reduces that by 25% putting the price for energy resistance to 13,500gp for 10 resist.

Making the total for wild energy resist +1 dragonhide breastplate 30,200gp.

so yes, 30,200gp total, yes it gives AC while in wildshape due to wild property on it.

However, 15 fame is not enough to do more than the +1 Or +2 currently.

So when I buy it does it have the same AC as Breastplate but with Hardness 10 or more AC than normal breastplate?

Sorry for the dumb-ish questions, I am newish still to PFS

If you have no dexterity wild dragonhide might be worth it. If you do just don't even bother ever since:

Wild armor and other transforming armor: When I use a wild armor and gain the armor’s benefits, what restrictions, if any, apply to me? In general, when I transform with a polymorph effect and some of my gear melds into the form, what restrictions do I have for melding with large amounts of heavy gear? What about other types of transforming armor?

If you were in medium or heavy load from encumbrance before transforming, you continue to take those penalties in your melded form. Otherwise, ignore the weight of melded items and calculate your encumbrance in your polymorphed form entirely based on non-melded items. When wearing melded armor and shields, if you gain no benefit from the melded armor, you still count as wearing an armor of that type, but you do not suffer its armor check penalty, movement speed reduction, or arcane spell failure chance. If you do gain any benefits (as with the wild property), then you do suffer the armor check penalty, movement speed reduction, and arcane spell failure chance. This also applies to all other situations where you or an armor transform: you always count as wearing an armor of that type, and if you gain any benefit at all from the armor (such as mistmail), you apply the armor check penalty, movement speed reduction, and arcane spell failure chance.

Also I assume max Dex is in effect for wild armor?

Pathfinder Design Team wrote: Yes, max Dex also applies, along with the others.

It has the same AC as a breastplate

It has hardness 10 (which is the same as a steel breastplate) , but that only matters if someone tries to sunder it.

it has the same armor class as a regular breastplate.

Given the absurd expense of wildshape armor, Druids local 704 highly recommends picking a favorite combat form, such as a pounce kitty or a velociraptor, and buying yourself barding (animal armor) in that shape (the society armorers are probably used to druids walking in in wildshape with a note and bag of gold around their necks) It doubles the price of the armor, but armor costs are insignifigant compared to the cost of a +3 enchantment and how much more expensive that +3 enchantment makes it to add anything else to your armor.

If you find yourself rapidly shifting forms, or assuming a tiny form, a wand of mage armor , one of your own barkskins, and your shapeshifting natural armor will give you a pretty good armor class on it's own. A potion or two should cover the rare times someone in the party can't activate a wand.

how do you put that armor on Flutter? I find that my two humps don't help me put barding on all by myself.

and can you have it put on you and than wildshape back to normal? what happens than to the armor?

Pathfinders come in groups.

That or set out a bowl with a potion of Serren's swift girding. Two rounds (plus a copy of Knights of the Inner Sea for PFS) and the Armor is on!

On the topic of the dragonhide armor, fame requirements would be:

Base armor (700 gp for Breastplate), 9 fame
+1dragonhide breastplate (1700 gp), 13 fame
+2 dragonhide breastplate (4700 gp), 18 fame
+1 energy resist dragonhide breastplate (1700 + 18000 *.75 =15200 gp), 31 fame
+1 wild shaping dragonhide breastplate (16700 gp), 36 fame
+1 energy resist wild shaping dragonhide breastplate (30,200 goals), 45 fame

Figure about 5 fame per level that means you wouldn't be able to qualify for the +1 wildshaping armor with the other specials until about 9th level.

Now you can do it in stages, but the wild shaping is very expensive.

The above assumes you are getting the energy resist that matches the dragon's energy immunity type -- fire if red, cold if white, etc.

By 11th level I took Heavy Armor Proficiency and bought +1 Wild Dragonhide Fullplate for my 12 Dex Druid. That way he was protected significantlyin either form.

Most of his career a Dragonhide Breastplate was just fine.

After a few incidents of indecent exposure, druids local 704 would like to remind members to wear clothes before doing this , because you'll be crawling out of the armor in whatever your bipedal form had on before hand.

No? What do you mean?

A wand of Mage Armor and a couple of potions in case there's no arcane caster in the party works wonders.

Stone Plate , Or Stone Lamellar is a better option if you are ok with using a feat for it.
