The huntmaster feat says that you are treated as one level higher for determining the abilities of your animal companion, as long as they are the selected type, and the pack lord archetype says you can divide your effective druid level between your animal companions. So I'm going to give a couple scenarios and would like an answer to how this would work.
1: PC has a wolf and a dog animal companion.
A: PC is treated as one level higher and can give that level to either the wolf or dog.
B: PC is treated as one level higher but can only give that level to the dog.
C: No extra level is gained.
2: PC has x number of dog companions.
A: PC is treated as x level(s) higher and can divide those levels in any combination between the dogs.
B: PC is treated as x level(s) higher but has to equally distribute those levels between the dogs.
C: PC is treated as only one level higher and can give that level to any one of the dogs.
