should older material be updated to reflect the games overtime power creep?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

I was looking at the flame mystery of the oracle, and as i looked it over i thought to compare it to some of the more recent mysteries, like Dragon, and this is just my opinion but the revelations between the two are uneven with the Dragon Mystery offering much more valuable offensive capabilities as well as utility ones. Both mysteries are more so offensive in terms of their revelations so i thought it was a fair comparison.

Does anyone else think there is some validity to this?

No.

It would be an impractical task, regardless of the merits. Plus, plenty of old stuff holds its own against the power creep options. Battle, Life, and Lore are still solid options. There are also weaker options that have come out since as well- Solar, for instance. It's less power creep, and more the initial weak options getting alternatives on par with the initial good options.

IDK the spell list for flame has way more punch than Dragon IMO. Though i'm probably not the best judge of these things. Maybe these updates could make their way into Unchained 2, if such a thing becomes a thing?

i agree with QuidEst

Also I kind of think the power creep is a good thing in some areas, older pathfinder books had a habit of releasing a lot of crap options so bolstering the selection of good ones is good in my book.

Also the dragon mystery is amazing

No. Not everything in the game needs to be maxed out. Some things are perfectly fine as flavorful options. There is no power creep. This isn't 3.5 anymore.
