This thread is for recruiting GMs to run their favorite/best scenarios at next year's PaizoCon. Presumably, you'll need to submit a 3rd-party event form to do so. What terrain will you have? How many different voices will you need? Props? Start planning now!

Other topics:

  • Organization - is it needed?
  • Requests then volunteers, or just volunteers?
  • How do we advertise this opportunity best to attendees?

  • The Exchange

There's one big thing that would get this kicked into high gear:

If Paizo will allow events to be added after the lottery selection has been run.

Right now you have to submit an event and a suggested time without knowing what else is being offered at that time. So you are essentially taking yourself out of the lottery for any afternoon events before you know what they are, much less if you have a chance at winning a slot in one. I strongly suspect there would be many more GMs after the lottery is run and people know whether or not they have gotten into that one event they really were looking forward to.

I think it likely they'd be willing to do that (last minute, pre-lottery, PFS adds were fairly easy in previous years), assuming the lottery is run early enough. But I think relying on that timing for the majority would be ... unwise? :)

    Scarab Sages

If they don't allow the adds, I suspect getting submitters may be anemic.

I have in the past and I have no problem doing it in the future. 2017 however, has been far too tight of deadlines to add additional new events due to internal complicating factors.

    Thank you for the note.

I understand there was a request not to organize afternoon PFS games via Warhorn.

However since we are unable to organize them through paizo.com ...

Can this request please be retracted?

    Thanks Sara,

It looks like things are finally coming together. Thank you & the rest of Paizo for all the work that went into this. :)

I've updated the early/late warhorn with a link to the submission page. Any suggestions for improvements are welcome.

Not directly related, since this is for games that should be scheduled, but suggestions for those not(from Azothath):

    1) A little better organization on where to meet.
    2) The open gaming rooms FILL up at 1pm with pickup games so there's no place to go at 2pm. 1pm is better or a person grabbing a table at 12:30 and a group text/chat to spread that info.
The 7pm games start with an early muster, so better finish by 6:30.

I'm planning on running at least one game next year. Maybe 2-3, if we can run with Belafon's idea. Two would be Pathfinder games, while the third would be either a magicless, rules-easy game of some sort (maybe FATE or a low-level PF game) or a Paranoia game of some manner.

Why would I start planning now when I can instead put everything off until the last second, name my adventure only when a name is absolutely necessary as a part of event submissions, and then struggleplan my adventure around the name and summary I submitted in the remaining month before the con? 8)

As I mentioned elsewhere, I'm running 3 or 4 games next year. All Planescape. No idea what time slots, I kinda just put my fate in the schedule's hands.

I may or may not skip out on the banquet next year to make more time for running games.

    Grand Lodge

If you wait until the last minute, it only takes a minute.

I just submitted three afternoon slots (Friday, Saturday and Sunday), not for Org Play necessarily, but for a set of Pirate-themed adventures for the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game using goblin characters. I mention this here because David and I have done this the past two years and there was a lot of interest (and we even got some org play content made out of our stuff), so I figured all you proactive people might also be interested.

Also, I hope there's another 150th table that we can have absolutely ruined in the best way possible by people like ol' Leg there. LOL

I have no idea what you are talking about. I bring nothing but rainbows and unicorns to any table.

I will certainly be looking to muster a table in a viable afternoon slot. I doubt it will be submitted officially, due to the window closing before the lottery is decided.

For once, that's not a concern for me. At best I will volunteer to run the special.

Still waiting to hear back on any other PFS Paizocon 2018 obligations before going for the afternoon slot -- after all, I may even be sleeping then to compensate for overnights.

    No news is good news?

I truly don't understand why people wanted overnight slots. I need my sleep. Lol

In the same boat... I'd like to know if my normal volunteer application was accepted (and if so, for what slots) before deciding whether or not to add afternoon tables.

@TOZ, that is definitely an issue.

I am thinking about trying to organize "Friday Afternoon Gaming Brought To You By 10,000 Lakes Gaming"

I would organize 8-10 tables, with GMs predetermined, and backups in case any of those GMs got a lottery slot during that session.

I am planning on sending an email to a few folks that may be interested in running, but would take volunteers here as well!

Does this sound like a viable thing?

I would also love it if some other lodges would take the other afternoons!

    The Exchange

    That sounds awesome, Jack!

I think it could run a little smoother if one person volunteered to coordinate all the afternoon slots, just so the distribution of scenarios makes sense. (So we don’t end up with a table of Refuge of Time scheduled but not making every day, or in case someone wants to run all three parts of All for Immortality across three afternoons.)

I thought about volunteering to do this myself but I’m out of the country for a few weeks in April/May.

In another thread I asked Sara Marie about scheduling scenarios after the lottery runs, but it really comes down to whether or not the Paizonians would have time to add them to the schedule. (So...iffy.)

The coordination would likely be a tag team effort between at least four VC level peeps. I plan on submitting the event sometime this week, before March 1. So, we will be on the hook as it were.

Event submitted; we are on* the schedule Friday afternoon slot.

Now let us start claiming volunteers for this.

I can run a table. You?

That is a fantastic idea! If other lodges were to organize a few tables of games each for one afternoon slot, it’d be a good way for them to show off their GMs, highlight their charity work, and disseminate their local con schedules. One of the big reasons I go to cons is to pick up GMing tips to which I might not otherwise be exposed. This would be a great way to learn how specific regions run certain aspects of the game.

I don’t know. 8-10 tables? That seems rather ambitious. It’s like organizing a con within a con. But if anyone could do such a thing, it’s the VOs that represent 10,000 Lakes Gaming.

Already talked to him, and the answer was "Yes".

So, if you want to volunteer to run, or volunteer to be a backup, we've got a lovely google form set up to take your volunteerism!

We are close on our target, but we do need some extras in case some folks get pulled off by lottery events!

As an extra incentive, I promise that HMM will give you a big hug for volunteering! (Technically, i haven't checked with her first, but figured it was a done deal, regardless)

    Doin' it MINNESOTA Style!

    Grand Lodge

Yes, it is a done deal. Hugs for everyone!

Having provided an appropriate incentive (who doesn't like hugs?) and a theme (water), I'll dive into that pool (or lake? Cause Minnesotans?)

I signed up offering to run a couple water-themed scenarios. Treacherous Waves, or Overflow Archives. Bring your Undines, Merfolk, and Aquatic Elves and let's go swimming!

(Should have also offered Sniper in the Deep. Oops.)

True, but I haven't played that one yet, and want to use my Undine in it once he's in tier. Maybe someone else will offer it.....

I put in for one of; 1-34 (Drowning stones is water, right?), 1-32, and 0-27. Challenging old scenarios for Fri afternoon slot with GLG. I made a very nice artwork backdrop for the chronicle.
If we need to go CORE (to replay it) let me know. (4) 7th Lvl pregens?

Excellent, so we should see all the thr, fri, sat, sun games hosted by non-paizocon volunteers on the schedule...
