Paizo is really upping their ad game by pushing out an entire movie just to advertise a new game setting!
They kept getting the race names wrong and obviously they wrote the script before finalizing the iconic characters so Navasi is a dude now. There's a lot of great archetypes in the film but now word if they're gonna make those SFS legal.
I did enjoy how they set up the next campaign all though the Sovereign don't seem like a very satisfying end boss.

GotG2 was cool! Jump points every where, and Sylvester Stallone was Sylvester Stallone. But he did have a good part to fill as a Ravager leader. I think I want to watch GotG again.
Those were supposed to be the original comics GotG members. Stallone's character was supposed to be Starhawk (hence the weird glowing things near his shoulders), Ving Rhaimes was Charlie-27, the Crystal guy was Maritnex, etc.

Rough analogues?
Peter: Human Envoy. He doesn't seem very commanding, but I like the thought of him being just inspiring enough that people wind up pushed into the right places. Barely.
Gamora: Human soldier. Okay, she is green, so "near human" and likely "augmented near human," but again... rough analogues. Operative is the second option, but I see her as more direct in her ass kicking.
Rocket: Ysoki Mechanic. This one was easy and I like the idea of Baby Groot as a unique biological companion instead of a droid. Adult Groot is of course, another story.
Drax: Vesk Soldier, probably Blitz fighting style. We could just call him a strange sort of human, or even a male Lashunta of the... damn, I can't find the types now. The physical expression of their genome. That way you'd lose the size angle though and Drax should be big.
Yondu: Human technomancer. Captain theme? If one exists! I know we have a lot of humans on my list, but I don't see Yondu being weird enough to warrent being a Kasatha or a Shirren.
but I imagine a villain of the setting making her increasingly cybernetic until he just rips her soul out of her body and shoves it into a vacant android shell to make it easier to upgrade her.
Mantis: Lashunta Mystic. Like Rocket, pretty sure that one is an easy call.
How about all of you?

I could see Rocket as a Soldier, especially if the Bombard style does what we think it does. I hope that Mechanic is what he should be though, always making new weapons out of scraps of nothing.
Gamora being an Operative is of course another choice that can only come down to personal preference without really knowing anything more about the classes. I'm more likely to say Soldier with a Hit and Run fighting style until we get more details, if only because none of the Operative Specializations sound right to me.

well: three of them are easy:
Starlord: Envoy
Gamora: Operative
Mantis: Mystic
The others are a bit harder: Raccoon feels like a special mechanic archetype which forfeits a companion/AI to be better at building weapons/fighting
Drax I don't think really has an obvious SF choice. He actually is probably closer to a PF Barbarian than anything I have seen presented for Starfinder so far.
Groot is clearly a cohort
Nebula: Could be Operative?
I guess Yondu is a Technomancer who has probably a very very limited spell selection.

Looking at both Guardians of the Galaxy movies, here's what I've come up with.
Starlord: Operative/Thief, Outlaw
Gamora: Soldier/Hit and Run, Mercenary
Rocket: Mechanic/AI implant, Bounty Hunter
Drax: Soldier/Blitz, Mercenary
Groot: Rocket's cohort. I guess Leadership made it to Starfinder?
Nebula: Operative/Ghost, Mercenary
Yondu: Envoy, Outlaw
Mantis: Mystic/Empath, Xenoseeker

My take on the core 5.
Gamora: Absolutely an Operative. She was a cyber and bio enhanced assassin for Thanos with the stealth, combat and intelligence skills that go with that. That is why she could get a deal with the Collector or had extensive knowledge and info on Xandar so she could find Quill quietly at the Broker's shop, for examples.
Rocket: Mechanic/AI implant is spot on. He was also bio manipulated and cyber modified and while most of his tech wizardry was to blow stuff up let us not forget his escape plan in the Kiln and his tech wizardry there and the 27? other prisons he broke out of. Also he is a pretty good pilot.
Drax: Soldier is probably spot on. Whatever 'in your face' melee or unarmed skill based type there is. Then again he definitely knows who to use them rocket launchers.
Groot: While Groot and Rocket are generally a team I do not see Groot as a fixure of Rocket. He should be his own character, maybe based on a space faring Treant/Druid with Growth Domain.
Peter Quill: Probably an Envoy or Envoy/Operative. His lineage gives him a serious boost to his durability and his upbringing as a grifter and pirate/Merc gives him a wide range of social and subterfuge skills. He has basic command skills learned from Yondu but only know with the GotG is he really starting to develop them. Excellent piloting skills.

I think groot is kinda antithesis of what eoxians is aka completely new race of living plants with home plane destroyed by eoxian super weapon.
for our dear gamora chan again new race of augmented aliens as base but opereative kinda suits her spot one
drax can be any race just boons in to wgat he is so he is to augmented race may be inruduced with new books
quil is vannila human with minor genetic modifications
mantis heloo lashunta chick with genetic problem
