Miniatures problem

I have been having a problem finding some figures that are the right size. I'm having problems finding large fighters and when I do find them they have a rediculessly small head. The same goes for the orcs and other pieces. I'm getting really disappointed in the quality if the pieces.

Are you looking for things for when you cast enlarge person? Most people I know of just end up putting the Med mini on a Large base or poker chip when enlarged, and taking it off the base when the enlarge wears off.

If you are looking to represent a large size humanoid race.... most mdium miniatures are in 28mm, but unpainted minis also come in 35mm, 40mm and 50mm ranges.... maybe adding this to your search would assist you in finding a large character to fit your needs?

Different miniature makers have different body proportions. Reaper minis tend to have larger heads, but often when the body size is increased it will make the head look smaller if the chest and arm muscles are unusually large (just look at a professional bodybuilder - they all look like they have ridiculously tiny heads).

Other manufacturers make minis with body proportions more like real-life people, but that can make the heads looks small, too. And mini manufacturers don't all use the same scale for every mini they produce; they may all technically fit in the 28mm category (or whatever size you're looking for) but one 28mm mini can look bigger or smaller than another 28mm mini, depending on who sculpted the original model.

Like Cpt-kirstov mentioned, you didn't specify if you were looking for a mini to represent a person who's really muscular or tall, or a mini to represent a creature that is Large size category. That will make a difference. Especially if it's for a humanoid creature, there aren't a lot of Large minis out there, compared to how many Large size minis there are for monsters, for example.

Well Reapers mini's are 28mm, Hasslefree are between 30mm and 40mm and then there is Cadwallon whose are around 32mm and up.

I am just trying to be sure the person who resurrected the thread (who was not you) realized they were replying to an old thread, as they may not have realized it. The minis subforum doesn't see a lot of action so they may have thought it was a recent discussion they were helping the OP with.

I presume if the OP still needed help they would have bumped the thread by now (though it looks like in fact this poster has never made any other posts save the post above).

But if you want to discuss the subject--skilled miniatures sculptors make the heads larger than they would proportionally be to be sure the details can be seen. Good quality minis like those Reaper makes usually do not have the "too small head" phenomenon. If its head is too small it's probably poor quality/amateur made in other ways as well.
