Elven Curved Blade & DEX to Damage

Rules Questions

Just wanting to verify that the Elven Curved Blade is still able to be used with Weapon Finesse. As in, an Unchained Rogue can select it gain DEX to Hit, and DEX to damage. Also, is the bonus damage on that 1 1/2 times DEX for the 2 Handed Weapon?

Thanks All!

That is correct.

I'm sure UC Rogue could use it with Finesse Training, but I'm not sure if you'd get 1 1/2 times DEX for the damage.

edit: I checked the FAQ, and apparently you do. This means Finesse Training is better than Agile weapon special ability.

Eyup. That an elven branched spear are the go to weapons for rogues.

Silver Crusade

Is it the 3rd level addition to finesse training that brings the 1.5*Dex to damage online?

eyup. So if you're a dex buld that's a pretty solid dip. A rather large dip but very worth it.

I was doing exactly that with a rogue in Eyes of Ten.

And this works with power attack as well, for the extra two handed bonus?

Yup, isn't that terrifying?

Of course, Rogues don't exactly have the BAB to make the best use of Power Attack, and they often lack the Str to take it, but it is still awesomesauce.

Furious Focus helps with that, as does Debilitating Injury, bring that AC down baby!

Interesting. Tempting to play an elven unchained rogue now.

Str (13) Dex (18) Con (12) Int (14) Wis (12) Cha (8)

Fairly good stats for a rogue. Go unchained rogue (3) for the dex to damage. Then go slayer (9).

Compared to a slayer (12) you get -1 BaB, -1 to your studied target, -4 HP, and no advanced talents.

However, you do get dex to damage, +1d6 sneak attack, +6 skill points, evasion and danger sense.

Seems like it could be worth it. Especially as all that Dex is going to really push up your AC, while the strength just becomes icing on the cake for CMD/carrying capacity/climb/swim checks.

If you are going slayer then you can drop str more and get power attack at lv2 of slayer bypassing the str requirement.

I would very much suggest going all the way to level 4 for Debilitating Injury, it is a very powerful debuff.

Yeah, in terms of BAB Sinks, you already paid the tax at 1st level, you might as well ride it out until 4th and then go slayer thereafter.

unchained rogue into fighter or urban bloodrager is pretty good
