Did you inherit a play-by-post?

If you are the GM for a play-by-post campaign but didn't start the thread, please email community@paizo.com.

We need:

A link to your profile page (click on your name at the top where it says "Welcome, your name!"
A link to the gameplay and discussion threads for the campaigns you have inherited.
Just copy and paste these links from the address bar in your browser, please.

Okay, I am planning to take over a game abandoned by another GM.

I followed the above instructions and emailed community@paizo.com once a week ago, and again on Wednesday morning.

I have received no response at all.

Is there anything else I need to do?

I think the community team is swamped with putting together the Paizocon 2017 schedule right now...

Hm.

Not good planning to have nobody left to man the phones.

Hey Rune, thanks for stepping up and adopting an abandoned Play-by-Post. I agree that the community team is likely swamped. Go ahead and start GMing anyway.

You have two choices:

1) GM in the old thread, and resign yourself to not having access to the controls. Keep all important links in your GM headers, and just continue.

2) Start a new and fresh campaign thread that you can control with links back to your old thread.

I hope that this helps.

Yeah, if I don't hear from them I will probably go with #2.

Thanks.

Less "not good planning," and and more, "Hey, we don't have either the money or time to hire extra help to cover everything."

Paizo is a very successful business, for a TTRPG, but they actually do have budget concerns over hiring more employees. It's just how it goes. Perhaps if they sell enough stuff, though, they can hire more people! Hence, the best way to get more people to cover stuff, is to buy more of their stuff!

(I already buy as much as is financially responsible for me to do so, so, unfortunately, I'm not going to be helping more than I already do...)

It's also worth noting that employees take vacations, get sick, or have job-related duties that take them out of the office, sometimes for a week or more. In many cases, there are redundancies in place to ensure emails are read and phones are answered, but there are inevitably different priorities for addressing different aspects of the business. If you emailed the community team (currently a single person), your email will be addressed as soon as possible. If you emailed twice, or three times, you'll likely still get a response to the first email at the same time you would have without additional correspondence. Now that you've posted on the message boards, you might see a response from the community team (again, still just a single person) before your email is addressed, depending on what order she's going through the various lines of communication that her job entails. Your patience and understanding are appreciated.

She's probably getting the laser-eyes upgrade.

Well, duh.

They're all undead and constructs. You didn't know that?

I am sure they fondly wish for it
