So one of our party members in our carrion crown game is a Trip and Reposition Fighter with the Phalanx Soldier archetype with a faulchard and tower shield. The rest of the party is a witch healer/buffer/debuffer, a summoner focusing on a pouncing edilon and an half orc grenadier alchemist (me!).
So now that the info is out of the way, the fighter is looking for something to do for the next 4-5 lvls left in the adventure. He would like a bit more damage and/or some interesting martial abilities (like a samurai order of the flame as an example of ). Does anyone have any suggestions?

Honestly, if he's allowed to retrain, he should be a 10th level Paladin; they get a lot more neat features. Fighters just hit things; Paladins Smite Evil, have Lay On Hands, ridiculous Saving Throws and Immunities, etc.
And since it's Carrion Crown, his interesting martial abilities will be online at least 90% of the time, whereas his other interesting abilities will be on all the time.

* He is not wanting to retrain.
* Everyone has a secondary range weapon (or magic!) and the alchemist is primary range
* STATS: rolled so really high (almost all stats except wis)So besides the "don't play a fighter, play a wizard" advice....
You asked what he should do, we told you.
Play a useful class, or do not ask what you can do to be useful.

whisperknives: actually i asked what to take for a few more levels beside fighter not what he should do in general. i don't mean to sound rude but the whole "just play a wizard" advice gets old real quick.
Scavion: he is debating on it or just investing some money in resistance items or both.
I never said play a wizard that was someone else, also I was just pointing out that fighters bring absolutely nothing to the table. Many other classes offer full BAB, or weapon training, hell Brawler even gets more feats than the fighter and that is really the only thing a fighter has going for them now that multiple classes get the equivalent of weapon training.
Step 1: Do not play a fighter.
Step 2: it does not matter really.

Well decent stats would let him dip into pretty much anything.
- rogue for some sneak attack & skill points (2 lvls for evasion)
- alchemist for some self buffy goodness
The question should also be: what is he willing to give up?
He has full BAB currently... does he want to keep that or is he willing to dip into a class that has 3/4 or even 1/2.
He might want to look at some of the prestige classes as well.
I can't recommend the inquisitor or cavalier ~ not because they might not be cool, just that I'm not well versed in either of them.
Hope it helps.

lol well i like a classic fighter personally but could always go with a lv dip into draconic sorcerer then go dragon disciple get some nice boosts and all but besides that just go with the flow, it all depends on the characters past achievments, mentality, and personalilty so could go into absoulutly anything lol ^^

Does he already have combat reflexes, greater trip and greater reposition? I'd assume so. Setting enemies up to die quickly and horribly by pouncing eidolon should be pretty effective.
Beyond power attack, weapon specialization, and duelist's gloves there isn't much to raise his static damage. His static damage and accuracy should be high at all times, at least.
He could go for In Harm's Way or Combat Patrol if he wants something odder. Or whirlwind attack with his reach weapon. He can do pretty much whatever the hell he wants, featwise.
Bodyguard + benevolent armor (+2000 cost) means he could buff ally ACs against touch attacks.
Most incorporeal undead have lousy attack modifiers, so that could make a nice difference.
Or here's something that could make your GM go "wait, what?" - talk the summoner into taking the Mount evolution and have the fighter start taking mounted combat feats. Mounted skirmisher or spirited charge + pouncing eidolon could be horrible have happening to enemies.
Utility wise, clever use of magic items goes a long ways.

I'd advise Bard over rogue and even a few levels would net him a good chunk of versatility.
If he can switch down to a medium armor and then mithral it, he can run dervish of dawn get 1st and 2nd level spells out of this and up to +4 attack and damage.
Even if he doesn't do that, he can run straight bard and get +2 to attack and damage and a great chunk of abilities and skills.

Student of War might give some interesting options and boost your Will Save to boot.
