I'm so sorry. This has gotten out of our hands.

But not having the original question makes difficult to provide an answer.

I just wonder at this point how globe of tranquil water works.

I guess I didn't make that clear in the post where I asked about it.

Does it, or does it not, create water?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

The original question was answered the moment somone else posted.

I asked if there was any problems with using three decanters of endless water to allow a person with cloak of the manta ray to swim along land.

And there was- it wasn't producing nearly as much water as I was thinking.

For what I can tell, it does not create water but makes water inside it calm.

Anyway, the wording is very confusing.

Sadly, this seems to be the intent.

While it does state that it creates a globe of calm water, it doesn't seem thst's what was meant to happen.

Sadly, there's basically no way to force enough water to swim on unto land reliably.

And don't mention sky swim, becuase cloak of the manta ray only works if you're in salt water.

Ah well.

Was trying to hard to make a questionable item useful.

It was an interesting thought anyway.

I'm still not sure, exactly, what it is that you're trying to make work, and I've read all of your posts!

That said, link previously provided states:

Quote:
Upon casting this spell, a rippling bubble of calm water extends outward from you to a radius of 20 feet and remains centered on you when you move.

So, yes, it creates a bubble of water (that is calm, hence the name); this bubble is centered on you.

This is made potentially unclear by:

Quote:
All water in this radius counts as calm water for the purposes of Swim checks, and the bubble prevents sprays and blasts of mundane and magic water from striking with enough force to deal damage, move creatures or halt their movement, or perform any action that requires an attack roll or combat maneuver check.

... but that seems easy enough to linguistically equate as "it's tranquil water - hence 'all water' refers to the water created by the spell."

And this,

Quote:
Water elementals are affected by a globe of tranquil water the same way creatures of the plant type are affected by an antiplant shell.

... is likely an attempt at making sure that water elementals aren't either suddenly effected by something like calm emotions (bypassing their elemental immunities) or polymorph any object (by turning them into plain water, or whatever).

It could be argued differently, but, as-stated, it looks like it supplies a bubble of water.

That said, I don't think it's really supposed to. I believe the intent is that it creates an aura of calmness that affects watery substance within the aura. But it does not say this, so... RAW, RAI, and RAtT...

AH! Now I get it! Cool.

Not really sure that globe of tranquil water could help you out, here, as it doesn't specify salinity...

Apologies for being so hard to understand.

I was recently fixated by cloak of the manta ray-

That's what I've been trying to force to work.

I had already thought of that, and deemed it easy to solve with a bag of salt.

Gotcha. Yeah, it's a cool item, in theory - in practice it's just no longer as relevant as it might have been once upon a time.

It's kidna a pity, yeah. But if globe of tranquil water does work, it's actually really strong.

A 20 foot space of water means thst to attack you, people have to use the water rules.

And if you're a grapple build, thst can be rsther devastating, too.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

At least, strong my my nonsense build standards.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

But, it relies on a spell not working the way it's intended, and I don't usually do that.

I guess back to using deadly stroke to make swashbuckler even more silly?

Hahah! Feel free?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Maybe I should make a thread just for housing all my silly build ideas.

3 people marked this as a favorite.

There are popular threads with much less than that, so go for it.

Now, back to avoid ignoring this thread?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Man, what are we even talking about anymore?

Continuous death ward, maybe?

I swore I was done. I'm no longer done.

So as a 13th level paladin, 4*13*2000 is 104,000 gold for a continious magic item that grants Deathward.

Which is only 74% of your total WBL, a leadership suggest for a 13th level character is a Criosphinx which is the same CR as a Succubus.

So I see nothing wrong with a 13th level Redeemer Paladin with permanent deathward and a Succubus cohort as his companion.

Since this has become a thread about Succubi...

Is there actually a way to gain immunity to the level drain from a Succubus to which a living PC has access? I've only ever found temporary solutions and all of them are rather expensive.

A Pharasman Souls Domain Cleric's 8th level power allows all within 30 feet of the cleric to ignore negative energy and level drain effects.

But only for their level in rounds.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Maybe with a wondrous magic item, but that could be expensive.

There is the scarab of protection, but it's too expensive for an item with limited charges.

I, uh... I see nothing wrong with this, citizen! Yep, everything seems in order, here! Move along!

Here is the info:

d20pfsrd.com wrote:

Ward Against Death (Su): At 8th level, you can emit a 30-foot aura that wards against death for a number of rounds per day equal to your cleric level. Living creatures in this area are immune to all death effects, energy drain, and effects that cause negative levels. This ward does not remove negative levels that a creature has already gained, but the negative levels have no effect while the creature is inside the warded area. These rounds do not need to be consecutive.

A Darkskull linked to Death Ward gives a continuous effect for 60,000 gp. Plus some other permanent evil effects, but you can't have everything.

I realized I am equally bad at Math, the magic item would cost 72000, I forgot Paladin's had Caster level -4 for a moment.

If the Paladin chose to craft the non-chastity belt him/herself it would cost half of that.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Non-chastity belt... Good name. It sells itself.

I mean, if you're gonna grapple a Succubus you gotta do it right. Awesome Blow, Quick Draw, Barrage of Style, Catch Off Guard, Choke Hold, Clinging Climber, Concentrated Splash, Drag Down, Grabbing Style, Hard Headed, Jaguar Pounce, Juggle Load, Let Them Come, Lunge, Mud In Your Eye, Natural Jouster, Open Up, Pin Down, Press to the Wall, Seize Advantage, Under and Over, and of course Vulpine Pounce.

The usual grappling feats >_>

here we go again, any commentary is appreciated.

Well, it's not commentary, but... I dotted!

I see you haven't read Horror Adventures yet, or you'd be aware of Bully Breed, Disconcerting Knowledge, Disrupting Fist, Profane Studies, and Touch of Evil.

I only flipped through the combat feats, I assume a number of additional feats that would be useful in a...grapple could be discovered.

My thread names need to be super clickbaity in order to actually get people to look at them.

I think any grappling Succubus would also have Martial Dominance and Ready for Anything.

Clickbaity, perhaps, but more, it should probably be an explicit command or condemnation that most people will either ignore or oppose on principle.

Also, something-something, paladins, alignment, blah.

I might have to move all of the build stuff to a new thread with a better title.

But I just dotted the one you made now!

Heh, true.

A pity you can't change it's name after an hour.

(For the record, I think your thread name is pretty great.)

((For the curious, it's "Shenanigans, the movie, the game, but actually a thread."))

Death ward gives 1/min a level immunity.
8th level soul wardens subtract 1 from all level drain effects, reducing a succubus's level drain to 0.
Kileanna wrote:

The Deathless armor enchant gives 25% chance to ignore negative levels.

If you allow it to be like the Fortification enchant, you could scale it to 50% or 75% for +3 or +5 bonus.

The Lifecollar Coat gives a flat 50% chance. [18,200 gp]
