I feel I need to thank the online game-play community, specifically PbP.

This will mean nothing to most but as a married guys who runs a company and has a kid I felt my ability to play RPG's ws non-existent. I joined the forum for real the end of November and now am GMing an AP and participating in several games.

I never thought I would get to play like this again but after a 20+ year hiatus here I am. Everyone on these boards, that has built this community, thank you.

It is a godsend for us without access to 'in person' gaming opportunities, for any number of reasons.

Dude. Same.

Mind you, PbP is now a constant distraction!

...Only downside is that finding a game is an ordeal! I enjoy character creation, but...

Agreed on all points. Though I do run a table top campaign I never thought I would get a chance to play games again with the frequency PbP allows me.

Taking on GMing duties I am able to run modules and bring adventure ideas to life I never would have gotten to unless I lived 3 lifetimes. I really enjoy being a part of this community.

Agreed. I would go so far as to say that the experience is different and in some instances better than tabletop. You can't beat the social interaction you get from a group of fiends getting around a table and chucking dice, but the richness of story and roleplaying opportunities afforded by the pbp format are unparalleled in my opinion.

I've got a son on the way (my first child, due in about a month) and my free time to play Warhammer and role play with friends is already diminished to a fraction of what it once was. When the baby arrives it'll be next to no free time.

I'm hoping that I can jump back into a PbP game in the relatively near future, after the first few months have gone by and the baby actually learns to sleep through much of the night! I, likewise, will be more thankful than ever for a community of players and the technology freely available to facilitate the enjoyment of our favorite hobby!!

cheers!

Would heartily echo the sentiments thus far.

When RL responsibilities made my tabletop gaming group an ever decreasing occurrence, the boards here offered a place to create, to discuss and game.

Think what is truly amazing about these boards is the community. As RL throws you curveballs there is a wealth of wisdom, humour and empathy that exists here to tap into.

Perhaps most telling is that, without a doubt some of the best roleplaying I've ever been involved with in 35 years of gaming (on & off), has been on these here boards. Been lucky enough to be part of some great games and have forged friendships with folks I'd have never known otherwise.

Long may it continue for us all :)

Cheers
