Please help me design a shotgun user

Advice

Just had a character die and am looking to replace him. Level 15 and I want to use a shotgun. We have access to pump action and double barreled shotgun. I really have very little idea how to make a shotgun user so please help. I'm obviously lookin at gun slinger but need advice on all the rest.

Thoughts?

there are other class archetypes that can use guns. other then just "use a shotgun" what else would you like to do? are you against multi-classing? you will get a lot of people saying you should move away from gunslinger once you hit lvl 5. but i would not know anything about that. do you want to be able to shoot lazors out of your shotgun? toss flashbangs into a room? there's spell slinger alchemists fighter has trench fighter or something like that.

there the alchemist has grenadier not really a gunner class but has bombs and can make explosive ammo
the fighter has trench fighter
the gunslinger has gun tank
the gunslinger has siege gunner
the wizard has spellslinger
the swashbuckler has musketeer
the swashbuckler has picaroon
i think the inquisitor has one
the paladin has holy gun
the barbarian has savage technologist

there might be more. if i could get my GM to play with guns i would combine trench fighter, grenadier and savage technologist and play a commando 5 lvls each.

also 3pp or core rule books allowed?

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

I think you might need a chainsaw....

Musket Master Gunslinger 1 or 5 / Eldritch Archer Magus X would work pretty well. Ranged Spellstrike would like the multiple opportunities to hit.

Spellslinger Wizard 1 / {any full caster, or maybe eldritch archer magus} X would be an impressive spellcaster.

If you're allergic to magic use then Musket Master Gunslinger 5 / Savage Technologist Barbarian 1 / Weapon Master Fighter 9 should maximise your combat effectiveness.

Hmm thanks

The particular game has the characters coming out of Alkenstar w basically no magic. I could have taken some magic levels around 7 or so

I guess I asked the wrong question. My apology

What is the feat chain you need to use a shotgun effectively?

Pb precise, rapid reload (+cartridges), imp precise, rapid shot,

What do you need from there? Does deadly aim even work w a scatter weapon?

The description of scatter says "Each attack roll takes a –2 penalty, and its attack damage cannot be modified by precision damage or damage-increasing feats such as Vital Strike." I think that means you can't use deadly aim with it but your GM may disagree. Of course you can fire solid shot from a shotgun and this uses the usual rules for guns which do allow deadly aim.

Weapon Focus and Iron Will should also be on your feat list if you're up to level 15. Improved Critical too IMO. None of those are absolutely required though.

so lets see going human and if I went pure gunslinger I would have 12 feats to play with if my rough math is right

PB Precise
Rapid Reload
Rapid Shot
Weapon Focus
Iron Will are all required the rest are up in the air I guess

hmm

So to make it a little easier to track, you have 8 level feats (1,3,5,7,9,11,13,15) and 1 Human Bonus Feat. Beyond that you gain any appropriate Class bonus feats. To simply look at it as you have 12 feats may have you get feats that you're not actually able to have.

siege gunner, that's kind of cool
