3.5 edition spiked chain trip / reach build

3.5/d20/OGL

I am a Goliath Fighter level 1 with 2 flaws for 4 feats at first level. I am looking to build my character to get maximum benefit for tripping and max reach. I know of he feats from the Lords of Madness book, aberrant blood and inhuman reach feats to get me to a base of 10ft of reach for a total of 20ft with spiked chain.

My stats are 22 strength, 16 dexterity, 20 con, 14 intelligence, 17 wisdom, 13 charisma.

I am going to be using a large spiked chain for 2d6+9 damage, i know that makes it automatic for the feat knock down.

My main question is besides help with feats and items for max trip benefit, but i am looking to get a longer reach with the possibility of me being no larger then actually large size.

Are there any items that give me a similar ability of power build but make me count as larger then large, titan build or the like. I came up with the name of titan build with out even knowing if it exists.

if you are listing feats or item please if you can list the books they are in. Templates are not allowed at first level, but i might be able to go through the transmogrification ritual to add them at a later time.

Any help would be appreciated.

Spiked chain doesn't give reach in pathfinder. If your DN is allowing the 3.5 version, great, but if not you're stuck with natural reach.

we are playing with the 3.5 rules not pathfinder.

To be clear, you are looking for 3.5 advice and not Pathfinder?

The build is a simple one that I saw overdone in the 3.5 days. It's kind of a one trick pony. Is this a long term or short term game? Do you have access to one of the old 3.5 SRD sites and some 3.5 books? Just keep an eye out for anything that helps/adds to tripping and static damage bonuses.

Those are some pretty great ability scores.

I am looking mainly for a way yo make my self count as being bigger then i am with out actually being bigger, I am a Goliath so i have powerful build, this can be done with magic items, or feats, or if i have to templates later down the road, say half-minator.

Ah. This is in the wrong subforum, then! I'll flag it (not for you doing something bad, but so it can get maximum exposure to those most interested in/knowledgable about helping you.)

thank you

No problem! I tend to love 3.5, but I've been out of it long enough that I'm starting to get rules confusion about which is what system - and I never built the chain guy anyway (though it was infamous at the time), so that's about the best I can do, as others have covered the more general advice aid give! Good luck, and good gaming!

Anybody have any ideas for me.

Oh! So it's shifted... here's hoping it helps!

(Sorry I'm so rusty.)

You might be able to find something from the old WoTC boards that the internet still has chached, not too many people playing in active 3.5 games anymore here at Paizo I think. I still run one but none of my players and none of my NPC's utilize that type of build.

Depending on the supplements you're allowed...

• Lunging Attack (full-round action to extend 1 attack an extra 5-ft)
• Stand Still (AoO's stop movement instead of dealing damage)
• Melee Weapon Mastery (extra +2 to both attack and damage rolls)
• Martial Stance (Thicket of Blades [3rd level Crusader stance] makes any movement including a 5' step provoke an AoO).
• Shock Trooper (power attack synergy, reduce AC instead of attack when charging and Power Attack).
• Slashing Flurry (gain extra attack [stacks with haste] but each attack takes a -5 penalty)

Yay, Diffan!
