Thistletop Clarification (map / encounter spoilers)

Rise of the Runelords

I can't figure out how the thistle forest part before thistletop plays out.

Thistletop Map:

So at C1 (page 41 ROTR Anniversary) says there is a hidden entrance here, cleverly hidden by nettles and briars. This entrance leads to the dirt paths surrounded by the nettles (green/vegetation on map).

For C2, this says it's a hidden entrance under the nettles. Do the corridors correspond to the nettles (green/vegetation on map), that is, are the PC's walking "in the walls" on this part? Also, it says the "larger chambers" don't have the height restrictions. I assume these are the areas that are more than a square or two apart?

Lastly, is going through the briars (c2 hidden entrance) just to avoid all the encounters in the briar area or do enemies hear/see things in the hidden corridors.

C1 is talking about the door from the outside.
C2 is talking about the same door from the inside (assuming the PCs managed to find a way there "backwards", such as climbing from the water up to assault Thistletop and then working their way out through the Thistles).

C2 refers to the dirt paths. The open areas would be, I think, the other numbered areas (except probably C8) and any space larger than 2-3 squares. The only creature expected to move IN the briars is Gogmurt, the Goblin Druid. If the PCs have someone with the same ability, s/he could move through the briars as well, but there is no expectation that the PCs will be able to avoid the squeezing movement in the small tunnels (unless the PCs are small.. Gnomes and Halflings have no issues, for example).

Ok jeeze so I was thinking about it all wrong. I should think of the the whole "thistle patch" as a large building, covered on top by thistle/nettles etc but the map is just showing me the inside (just like any other map, roof is not shown).

I, for some reason, was thinking these were just paths through the woods and the C2 led into the thistle bush, and the thistle bush was carved out (the PCs would be walking inside the green parts on the map).

I think that clears up a lot of my confusion and answers some other questions that came up. Thanks for the help, not sure why my brain thought that way.

Happy to help.

Enjoy the AP. :)
