That lantern archon is holding up a lot better than I thought it would. Also, they get two light rays if they make a full attack. ;)
Aelerie Mirisen |
Which is strange, I know, because I'm totally onboard with killing Jeva if we have to. But in my mind, she's at least in her teens and as we all know, teenagers are the worst.
Did my Knowledge (Planes) check reveal any information about lantern archons and their abilities? Specifically certain spell-like abilities? =)
Albus Wodeward |
I liked it. Tough but not too much. It was good design that if we were overwhelmed by these we had an option to retreat. Always a good idea to plan for that if you are unsure just how strong an encounter will be in practice. The setting and descriptions were solid, you have improved in this area since starting. Good job!
Aelerie - your Knowledge check might also let you know that you and Lantern Archons have a language in common, so you could converse without a translator.
GM Stargin |
Thanks for the feedback. I'd say your knowledge roll would get you spell like abilites and languages for the archon Aelerie.
And it didn't get a chance to use both rays because it five foot stepped back to avoid an AOO from the ghost :). The ghost rolled really badly whenever it tried to hit glowy there.
Aelerie Mirisen |
Ah, I forgot ranged attacks provoke! See, this is why I need to branch out from spellcasters into melee and ranged builds; I forget about the rules that don't often apply to my characters. But I think you can take a five foot step and still make a full attack in the same round, unless I'm overlooking something else. And I probably am. =)

Unless there's something waiting for us back in town (hint hint), I had thought Aelerie might turn around and head back to the site after escorting Lady Cirthana. I think we all prepared to spend a few days out in the Vale, after all.
Aelerie Mirisen |
But most Falcon's Hollow folks don't have *magic*!
-Aelerie Mirisen (4701 — 4718)
But really, I leave it up to my three counterparts to decide whether to head back to town or press on. If it makes any difference in Aelerie's condition or arrival time, she would have used one of her scrolls of mount, communal to get back to town with Lady Cirthana. 2 light horses for 3 hours each, traveling at 5mph (or 8.047 kph).
I alluded to it in my last post but didn't get the chance to say it outright before your update. I've come down with a case of insomnia lately and have just been exhausted these past few days. But I'll try to write up something before the weekend once I know what you guys want to do.
Albus Wodeward |
I'm for trying for more info since there seems nothing to do in town and the less seen there the better, I think.
Get well Aelerie, I struggle with that myself so I know how wearing that can be. Right now I've also had a sinus infection to deal with, darned weather has been all either way down or way up, giving everybody fits. Hope to speed up my posts a bit too.
Aelerie Mirisen |
I appreciate your support, guys. Albus, you have my sympathy twice over and I hope you're feeling better. Unfortunately, my sleeplessness has only gotten worse. I'm lucky now to get two or three hours a night. Until we find out the cause behind my sudden insomnia and get it treated (or at least until I can adapt to getting so little sleep), I'm very sad to say that I need to take a break from my games.
GM Stargin, please feel free to bot me as needed. I'll check in and keep you all updated, and hopefully I'll be back to feeling like myself very soon.
Albus Wodeward |
Aelerie sorry that your case has become so bad. I'm not usually that bad off, just an hour or two less than I really need, I've adapted but only 2-3 is really serious, maybe a sign of sleep apnea. Don't let that go, get to a sleep specialist ASAP. Get well.
And yes I'm better now, took a week but it's mostly gone.
Laro Farfeet |
Hope you get it all figured out. I know lack of sleep is bad for you. I'm not getting much more a night than you are due to robbie not wanting to go to bed until 3-5 am and me having to be up at 6:30.
Albus Wodeward |
Aelerie, GM, I've been to a sleep specialist, they write the prescriptions to the sleep centers, and then interpret the report. My sleep study cleared me of sleep apnea which is a very serious medical condition. So don't wait too long, ask your primary doctor or ear specialist for a recommend or even your insurance co. It is expensive so maybe check with your insurance carrier first to see if it's covered. Good luck and get better.
Javell |
Yep; just not a ton of time for a full RP post. I've been a bit busy, but I'm following along with what's happening. Basically, I'm reading along, don't have a ton to contribute, and then go back to physics homework.
Albus Wodeward |
Sorry, but I'm not sure about the environment. Is the river we are at the large river in the middle of the forest? I thought we we tracking North-east of the Monastery just staying within the forest along the treeline on the hills leading to the ridge. The river is way, way south of that. Did Albus get lost?
GM Stargin |
Ah, well you guys were starting from the site of the Jeva battle. That happened very soon after you entered the forest for the first time when you were heading to the monastery from the burnt orphanage.
Maybe this map is better:
The Assassin Vine was just in the tree line between Elara's House and the monastery. Tracking North East from that point will get you to the river in the middle of the forest. Let me know if anymore clarification is needed.
Javell |
Yep.
No problem here. I'd post more, but it would usually amount to 'Javell agrees' which... just feels like wasting a post. I know that doesn't make sense, but it's weird. It just feels like if my posts aren't a minimum length, they really don't need to be posted.
Albus Wodeward |
And I agree with the GM, Javell, even when you agree with Albus it gives me something to play off, and if you add even one little thing, that can make a huge difference in the role-play.
Javell |
Fair. Usually I'll only post when I feel like I have something new to add. I suppose Javell will become a lot more vocally agreeable all of a sudden ;)
GM Stargin |
Ok, round one done. Albus you called out a readied bow action so take it and we'll retcon if need be. If your attack hits and takes out a wolf I'll roll a d2 to see if the wolf who hurt you is the one who died. (Always want to roll high so 2 is good, 1 means you get hurt)
Javell, Laro, you guys didn't call out an action so nothing this round. But you can retaliate now!
Javell |
Just to clarify: Javell would have stepped into a flank, but my understanding of the setup is that I'm not flanking the werewolf that I'm attacking, just providing the bonus to Albus.
Aelerie Mirisen |
Thank you, GM Stargin! It has gotten much better. I'm sorry I missed the big fight, but I'm glad to be back!
Aelerie Mirisen |
I tried coming up with something, but it's been a busy, busy couple of days. Moved in to our new place this week, so I've been trying to get us settled in. And we got a new puppy (Archer)! ^^
But that was an excellent speech, Albus. =)
Albus Wodeward |
Moving is always a nightmare. A new puppy! Great! How many furry companions do you have?
Thanks, I tried to balance a few things in it but trust Albus to quietly cause trouble, always watch out for the nice guys!
Aelerie Mirisen |
It is, but it was a positive move. Bigger place and quieter neighborhood for less money. $2200 for a 1 bed/1 bath is ABSURD. Internet still isn't hooked up, though, so I'm posting from the phone for the time being. And we're up to two furbabies now! Bela and Archer. Growing up, I never had puppies before; now I want all of them.
Pshaw, nice guys are the best! I thought it was very inspiring but moderate at the same time, which is the chord I was trying to strike when I was racking my brain for what to say. We want to give the townsfolk courage, but not so much that they run out to go monster hunting themselves. Kimi.
