Here's a very rough draft of Bradley Maurer, MD. I worked from V20 for the most part, cross-checking things with Revised since I don't have 2e. He's got 1 freebie to spend right now. Very open to advice on that and possible re-workings. Mechanically, the idea is to have a brainy guy good at figuring stuff out who can surprisingly throw down a little if he has to.

Generation is uber-flexible to fit with a good mentor candidate. I like a little of it just for novelty but mainly I was low on ideas for other stuff to pick orelsewhere to toss freebies and didn't want to make him filthy rich. Brad's not the kind of guy who just goes around getting known by people, so contacts seemed like a poor fit. Wasn't sure how to really parse status or influence. Basically I see him as a newish vamp (3 years dead) maybe a little ahead of the curve on getting himself situated, but definitely not a factor in city politics. Undead-wise, he hopes to become the kind of guy who can do everyone a solid or two and thus quietly becomes indispensable.

Background:
Malqazar was not born as Malqazar, rather he was born in a hamlet in rural Cheliax as Freddrit Draergel. His father was a farmer, and his mother was an elf who fled Kyonin under mysterious circumstances. Despite his quiet and peaceful upbringing, or perhaps because of it, Malqazar always wanted more out of life. An opportunity came when he discovered a way with words far beyond what the average person could manage. His influence in the village grew, and he was offered the position of a high-ranking coucil member. He wanted more than the provincial life of a village official could offer, he wanted true prestige and status. And so he left for Westcrown, leaving his old life behind. Upon his arrival, he realized Freddrit Draergel was not a suitable name for a person of power. He changed his name to Malqazar the Magnificent, and with that change he fully realized his potential. He was able to shape the minds of lesser men like clay in the hands of an expert potter, their feeble intellects spinning under his deft touch. In his arrival to the court of Westcrown, he uncovered hints at a deep and extensive conspiracy, which he saw as his chance at glory. Either he would be the one to unmask it to the public, or he would join it.

Appearance and Personality:

Malqazar is a tall, handsome half-elf man, albeit with rounded ears and a less narrow face. He retains the slender build and height of the elves, along with their dignified beauty. He generally wears the outfit and finery of a courtier, tailored to fit the fashions of Westcrown. He carries a slender cane, which upon close inspection is revealed to be a sword cane. A small locket hangs around his neck, containing a picture of his mother and father.

Malqazar is incredibly ambitious in his search for power and prestige. He seeks to attain status in Westcrown, to rub shoulders with the highest in society. Every so often, he gets pangs of regret for abandoning his parents, leaving them without a son. He carries the locket to remind him of them. However, he also uses the locket to hypnotize people, to plunge the depths of their psyche to shape their minds.

Last I heard he'd cut back a bit on the sauce on account of having a family and responsibilities and whatnot. ;)

Ridge here.

Here's Miles Colburn, Malkavian Con artist (or is he retired? he's not sure himself) who every now and then remembers that Earth is hell and has to remind people (his fellow Hellmates) of the sins they've forgotten, or suggest the good things they could do (not that any of them are getting out of here) all thanks to Dominate 3 mixed with his insanity (When it kicks in)

I should clarify he's more likely to mess with mortals on that. And he's not meant to be a Fishmalk or anything. He is a conman who sometimes considers being a better person, but his insanity will make that impossible and ordinary Kine around him will probably find their very identities twisted about him. He's poison to the living minds around him and there is the tragedy.

Two freebies left to fill in as the GM suggests. Most likely options are lowering his generation or buying lore (Though I did consider light sleeper merit)

Patick Bright, malkavian artist ready. Everything seems to be all right, as far as the crunch goes.

Ah, sorry,I am now a Dragon Herald of Absu, not a Dragon Yapper! I am the diplomatic prodegy as I emit a constant sanctuary around myself and then try to convince everyone she encounters that Absu is the best, so I am totally taking the evengalist idea to the next level.

I would like to submit a character to "Forged in Steel". James L Sheridan is a middle manager in the Ventrue controlled drug distribution organization who has worked his way up from the bottom:

You could say I got in on the ground floor. It was 1982 when crack first started to hit the streets and you KNOW the Ventrue were there. Well, I didn't. Not for a long time. I didn't want to deal, but circumstances forced it on me. First I sold on the street. Through ambition, smarts, a bit of luck, and *NEVER* using my product, I was soon running half a dozen street level "representatives". Pretty soon it's 1985 and I'm ready to grab the next wrung on the ladder . That level of responsibility required unshakable loyalty. The kind that comes with becoming a ghoul. Five years of unwavering service later, all while riding the tiger that is our South Side distribution network, my hard work was recognized. Now two years after my embrace, it is I who is running ghouls. My suit is Armani. My Benz is black. And I mean business.

Hey Pedron,

Just click on my profile for a character sheet format for the mechanics part of you submission.

Thanks, Dalton.

There is a lack of consistent Vampire the Masquerade content on these boards. Unlike popular AP's or Pathfinder scenarios a chance to play in a Vamp game on the boards only seems to come once in a great while. So, what I'll do is accept Submissions till April 30. Everyone will play in the opening scenario, thereafter I'll split that large group into two groups. I'll do it based on the RP of the larger group at that scenario and one will become two separate parties in two separate threads.

3 Ventrue, 2 Tremere, 2 Malkavians. 1 each of Brujah, Gangrel, and Toreador.

Where's the Nosferatu fans out there?

That is very cool of you. No idea how you juggle all of these games.

Best of luck to the chosen bards!

I briefly considered playing a caitiff.

Nosferatu face some of the hardest difficulties out the gate because of their inability to interact with humans until they really push their Obfuscate abilities.

I made the changes to the freebies for Morag. I think I did the math correctly.

I have a question about skills. Morag is an historical document forger. I couldn't find a particular skill that would work well for that. Bureaucracy doesn't seem to fit even though the forgery system calls for it. Do you have a suggestion? I'm more than happy to move points around to fit skill into that.

Yep, I'll get a post up later regarding the appropriate skills which are listed in the players guide.

Even in the end, I get pegged as a Yapper!!! Sure I wasn't picked but I AM A DRAGON HERALD, NOT A DRAGON YAPPER! doesn't matter now though.

Forgery is a secondary skill - you can reallocate skill points to it as you wish. 5 max at your current generation.

Willpower - 2 per dot.

Aw crap, there's some math to sort out for me. :) It was 1 per dot in Revised and V20. Also looks like I mistakenly began with it equal to self-control instead of courage. But it's fixable. Bringing my courage up to 5, which is doable with the concept, would handle most of the problem. Looks like I accidentally swapped my stealth and survival dots, so I'd be in there fixing things anyway. Looking at some flaws to make the points work.

Shadow who Tells Stories, Sinfully:
For purposes of triggering the Beacon of the Unholy flaw (2 freebies in V20), how common would devout mortals be? Would I ping any regular churchgoer into thinking I'm a serial killer? The student body at a Catholic school? I know it's got to be more than just people who have True Faith, since that's already a built-in vampire weakness. Just trying to get a sense of how often it would come up if Brad aims to fake living a fairly ordinary mortal life in the future.

Ack, it's not just you. I spent 1 freebie per WP as well. Time to readjust the sheet for Miles. :o

Oh, and I almost did go for a Nos. :)

All Clergy.

Mortals who are devout are uncommon.

This would arise at the most in opportune time. Take it, sounds fun! :-)

I'll audit all submissions once Recruitment is over to make sure characters conform to 2ed.

Also, the second thread will be Milwuakee by Night, if you have a preference for one or the other let me know.

I'd definitely rather stay in the Chicago area if I can.

I am thinking about taking a Feeding Restriction flaw; we've still got time to fiddle with our sheets, right?

Ok.

Yes till the 30th and even after if you think something just isn't working.

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Starfinder Adventure Path Subscriber

Can you explain how the flaws work briefly?

Flaws are akin to Drawbacks in that they create weaknesses in your character. Each Flaw point gives one more Freebie Point to spend - to a maximum of 7.

Selection is up to ST discretion in some instances.

I'm cool with Milwaukee or Chicago. As far as WoD goes, I don't know anything about either, so it's all the same to me. I've also never been to either in real life, so there's that.

Also, would it be alright if I used this merit from the Lore of the Clans book? It's in the Toreador Section on page 200, if you've got the book.

Master of the Masquerade (2pt. Merit):

There are many small tics, nervous habits, and
autonomous bodily functions (like breathing) that Kindred
simply forget to do. They can be unnervingly still or forget
to breathe, particularly when they think they’re alone. You
never let down your guard. The act of breathing remains an
unconscious habit to you, and you never lapse into that eerie
statue-like stillness, even when transfixed or concentrating.
Consequently, the difficulties of all Social rolls are lowered
by one when interacting with mortals. This Merit does not
allow you to eat food or benefit from the blush of health
(V20, p. 480) — those Merits are still required to be a true
master of the Masquerade.

I have a preference for Chicago/Gary, but would be okay with Milwaukee if it works better for you.

Merit approved.

5 days left to submit for the Vampire game.

The current group of 10 would be broken down into 5 each barring any further submissions. PM me if you have a Player whom you want at your table.

Here is Yorick's submission. I'll probably take another run at the backstory because there are still a few things that I'm unhappy with, but the basics are at least there!

How are you all doing the dots with the bbcode on your sheets?

Well I would prefer Chicago but will do either just to play this game. Btw earlier you mentioned all the players in the dark ages game were at least solid if not spectacular... I hope I am better then just solid!

Most of the solid guys have move on but unfortunately a few spectacular ones have moved on as well.

Did a quick look through, love the concept.

=======

I will fully review all submissions on the 30th/1st.

Just want to make one thing clear, no one will be starting in Chicago or Milwuakee proper. We'll make any Background tweaks together. Lodin had not allowed any new Embraces in 25 years or so. Modius is not nearly so in control of his territory... or is he?

City Preferences:

Morgrym & Tyrell - Chicago.
Julian - ST choice.

No preference on city.

My preference would be for Chicago as my background ties me to it. That being said, I am prepared to follow where the story goes...

OMG my Milwuakee by Night was unopened! Brand new 25 years later :-)

Long story I'll tell it later. ...
