Clarification on rapid grappling

Rules Questions

Is it possible with rapid grappling to do all of the following in 1 round. To me by RAW I think you could do all this all in one turn, please tell me if I'm wrong.

1. Optional 5' step towards opponent
2. Standard action initiate grapple (attack)
3. Move action maintain grapple (pin or attack)
4. Swift action tie up opponent (attack)
5. Release the grapple

As I understand it, you can't maintain a grapple on the same turn it is initiated.

Maintain a grapple is only on subsequent turns.

If you do not release the grapple, you must continue to make a check each round, as a standard action, to maintain the hold.

However, there are people that believe that since greater grapple allows you to maintain as a move action that allows you to do it on the round you initiate a grapple. Expect table variance, ask your GM.

Talk to your GM.

James Jacob, not a rules guy, says yes.

Mark Seifter, a rules guy, said in a non-official thread no.

In absence of an official clarification or errata, talk to your GM.

Considering that at L9 casters are doing things like plane shifting opponents or permanently dominating enemies, or L9 martials like monks, brawlers, barbarians and certain fighter archetypes are getting (or about to get) pounce-like attacks, letting someone who's invested 4 feats (IUS, Imp/Grt/Rapid Grapple) that requires heavy CMB investment do 3 Grapple checks seems fair.
