Cotct - Character advice

Advice

Hello everyone,

This is my very first post after years of reading the forums and this time I would like to get help for choosing my next character in Curse of the Crimson Throne.

About my experience as a player, I will say that this is my third PC after my Rogue in Rise of the Runelords (level 15, not finished yet, maybe I will ask for help retraining in other post) and my Barbarian in Kingmaker (barely four sessions played). I've also played D&D 3.5 but I tend to forget almost everything.

Current party:
-Witch
-Vigilante (not sure if ranged or melee)
-Oradin

So, I guess I should play a martial class to balance the group and I've been thinking about building a Fighter. After some researching, Lore Warden / Martial Master appeals to me, but I'm not sure about how to build her. Maybe a combat maneuvers build?

Character options:
Race: probably human
Ability scores: 18-16-15-14-13-12
Traits: 2, one of them must be from campaign, no drawbacks.

Do you have any other class suggestions? I will appreciate your feedback.

I would go with slayer so can get some solid skills and maybe trapfinding, but arsenal chaplain warpriest looks good with that group as well. Just pick whatever fighting style the vigilante doesn't get (two-weapon fighting or archery).

Thanks for your suggestions.
As I had to choose archery as my fighting style and the party needs some support and crowd control, I opted for an archer bard since I'm not very familiar with warpriest and we already have nice damage.

Bards are good generalists, but it's hard for them to be any good at weapon combat unless they take a combat oriented archetype. They do make the rest of the party better and are good skill monkeys which is always nice. Good luck.
