Animate Object Question

Rules Questions

As it says in the subject line, I have a question about animate objects.

My question is this: Is jelly, or jello, an object for the purposes of animate object?

I understand that a liquid would not count, but what of a semi-solid mass such as a gelatin dessert?

Depends on the temperature: Link

SCIENCE!

So, did Frosty the Snowman's animation go away because he melted.
Could you animate a pile of sand?

Per the spell:
You imbue inanimate objects with mobility and a semblance of life. Each such animated object then immediately attacks whomever or whatever you initially designate.

An animated object can be of any nonmagical material. You may animate one Small or smaller object or a corresponding number of larger objects as follows: A Medium object counts as two Small or smaller objects, a Large object as four, a Huge object as eight, a Gargantuan object as 16, and a Colossal object as 32. You can change the designated target or targets as a move action, as if directing an active spell.

I don't see anything that precludes semi-solids, or even liquids.

Even the mist from obscuring mist is technically an object, since it is made with a creation type spell, which only makes objects or creatures.

That's good to know, I'm building a crazy Alchemist based off the Muffin Man of fairy tale lore.
Things like a knight made of toffee, or a gelatin tentacle monster, or a little running gingerbread man so being able to animate foodstuffs is a must.
