Question: Replaying Scenario and finding a spellbook

Ok, so a week or two ago I ran a session that one of my players had already been in. We run the scenario and in the events of it the party finds a spellbook, with spells both he and another character do not have.

They both copy the spells into their spellbooks--expending the costs for doing so and all that, but then the player who had been in the scenario before (with a different character) erases it saying he couldn't get anything from this scenario.

I have checked in everywhere I could think of and the only thing the rules mention is he does not get another sheet or any of the items from it.

The rules also mention that you can consume a scroll to add it to your spellbook mid-scenario as well.

Could my player have scribed the spells even though he already was in the scenario?

Summery:
Player played in the scenario before with a different character, can he still scribe from a spellbook found in game?

Related: would that same character (replaying for no credit) have been able to scribe spells from the other character's spellbook?

Short answer: Yes.

Medium answer: Particularly because he could scribe them from the other player.

Longer answer: If he was replaying for credit (GM star), no question. If replaying to make the table, he gets no books, xp, PP, gold, and risks death. But other players can do things, such as cast spells.into spell storing items, or share spells. Whether the spellbook is item access directly... probably would be actually. So without the other wizard, it would have been an issue perhaps.

If he was a legal player at the table and received a chronicle, his actions in the scenario have mechanical effects on his character. I believe he could spend money on that chronicle, such as to scribe spells.

Thanks everyone, helped a ton.
