Versatile Performance and Feats

Advice

Hello again, another noob question =D

tldr - do the benefits of Versatile Performance get applied before bonuses from traits/feats/etc?

When I originally created my Bard, I took the Persuasive feat for the bonus to Diplomacy and Intimidate. The Perform skill I'm currently focusing on is Oratory. Now I know that Versatile Performance lets me apply my bonus from my Perform (Oratory) to Diplomacy and Sense Motive, but do I still get the +2 to Diplomacy from Persuasive if I use Versatile Performance for that, or do I lose the benefits?

I'm pretty sure you lose those benefits since you're replacing Diplomacy with Perform

Maybe, but from my understanding (I could very well be wrong), you still use the Diplomacy skill itself - you're just substituting the bonus from another skill instead.

Jodoksi is correct. You're using Perform in the place of Diplomacy, so the only traits that would apply would be the ones that affect Perform.

You lose the bonus for diplomacy, but any feats that apply to performance boost your diplomacy. You best bet is to retrain persuasive to skill focus perform oratory. This will give you a bonus of +3 instead of +2, which will increase to +6 when you get 10 skill ranks in perform oratory.

Right, thanks for that.

According to our DM, we won't be having a rest period for a couple sessions yet (we just finished one such period so the party could make some money, and so I could buy a masterwork lute) but I'm sure I should be able to hold out until then.
