A major alteration ot the RotRL Plot

Rise of the Runelords

Been thinking of making a new recurring villain, called the "Ice-King" Basically, I decided that Karzoug's chief agent wouldn't be Mokmurian, but instead a powerful lich-type creature. I got the idea from the really cool artwork image of "Lamatar Bayden." Mokmurian is going to be his enforcer. the Ice-King will be a recurring villain, he lives in the Black Tower at Jorgenfist, and is the apprentice of Karzoug. His ultimate mission is to restore the Runelord back to life. The previous apprentice died, and was preserved by the Ice-King as the "black mummy" in the basement of the tower.

Anyone see any major plot problems with this change.

No problem, I'm sure it would be easy to imagine a lot of potential servants of Karzoug, very different from the ones present in the AP.

I've always considered the AP more of a guideline than a railroad, anyway. Whenever players wander off-script, I just go with it, and it often leads to a session or two outside the events described in the AP, and could lead to an entirely different suite of adventures entirely.

At least until the PCs get to the part where the bad guy is going to destroy the world in "x" number of days/hours/minutes.

What you're suggesting looks like simply swapping out one chapter boss for another. Go for it!
