Getting into Eldritch Knight without a level dip.

Advice

I'm looking to get into Eldritch Knight as a Theurge base class (3rd party, Kolbolt press) without dipping into a level of fighter/non caster class.

My GM has ruled any class that gives me + arcane or divine casting advances my spells, I'm mainly looking how to get proficiency in all martial. Light armor would be good too.

I'm thinking a 1st lvl prestige that gives MWP. Any help would be appreciated.

Also looking for anyway to make a good melee arcane caster without the limited magus list would be nice. Looking into Battle mage prestige also.

VMC oracle with battle mystery

PRC into arcane archer or hellknight signifier

So if i understand you correctly, you want a dip in a caster class that grants martial weapon proficiency?

Well, you mentioned magus... so.... magus? Its probably the best you're going to find.

Not 100% clear on what it is what you want, so apologies if that didnt help... :)

Holy vindicator gives you martial weapons, but the +5 BAB would be hard to qualify for.

I think your best bet is to take a level in a martial class and take favored prestige class and prestigious spellcaster to do away with the dead spell level advancement in eldritch knight.

I was looking for a way to not lose any spells per day from my base class and still gain proficiency in all martial weapons. So I could qualify for Eldritch Knight.

What I need.
A prestige class that gives:
Proficiency in all martial weapons
And has +1 arcane or divine spells per day at 1st level.

I'm also always looking for a better way to do a melee arcane caster other then magus.

Ty

I usually use This Thread to find prestige classes along the lines of what you're looking for. If you scroll down you should see a "Casting (PrC's that advance casting)" section that lists the prcs that give +1 casting at first level. Do note that the thread is pretty old now, but it's a good start.

As far as a better arcane melee class goes, you wont find better than a magus, its pretty much their "thing".

I'm curious as to what your tactics in combat will be, i mean magus strikes the perfect middle ground between arcane casting and martial already, so what do you mean by "better"? Do you want better spellcasting, or better martial ability? Because I doubt you will be able to be better at both.

For better casting, the obvious choice is going wizard, but you'd lose BAB.
For better martial, the obvious choice is going bloodrager, but you'd lose casting.
No class gives you everything, for obvious reasons.

As far as I know, the only spell casting prestige classes that give martial weapons are Holy Vindicator, Sky Seeker, Arcane Archer. None of these classes have spellcasting advancement at first level and all have high BAB requirements or require a ranger dip (skyseeker).

I would be interested in the answer to your question, but I think the answer is none.

As for better melee arcane caster than magus, I would say occultist.

Well only the new silk-thingy occultist is arcane, right? I havn't gotten the material yet but I thought it was more about wearing robes and such and being more caster focused than melee?

Heroes of the high court. I was totally set on playing a haunted collector melee guy for strange aeons and probably will play that, but the silk worn guy looks tasty.

I think of the occultist as arcane because most of their spells are even if they are psychic.

Eh, the only reason I didn't mention it is because he specifically asked for arcane, but if he decides to reconsider that then occultist, oracle and others would be just as fitting as magus.

I kind of agree on oracle that if what you are after is a theurge type character - play an oracle spirit guide and you can sub in different shaman spells every day; while still keeping things like cha to ac, an animal companion, and other goodies in play.

Ideally im trying to have as many options as possible for melee/ spells. Magus loses too many good wizard spells. I plan on taking this PRC but with the level of spell casting loss from 1 level of martial class and the 1 level loss of casting in this and Eldritch Knight I worry about my casting.

Also I read prestigious spellcaster, does the +1 existing casting class extend to additional times taking the feat or does it just increase caster level for that classes spells? There is a difference.

Variant Multiclass Oracle (PF Unchained) and spend half of your feats on that. Gain Battle Mystery, take the Skill at Arms Revelation at 3.

Then 2 Feats for Favored Prestige Class and Prestigious Spellcaster.

Running one right now and honestly the feat loss isn't crippling if you're Human. EK offsets some of the pain. I'm able to go the full Martial Training tree from Path of War with no issue in terms of feat flexibility.

Plus the Training enchantment from Inner Sea Intrigue helps a lot nowadays, giving you a Combat Feat.

Spoiler:

HD1: Favored Prestige Class (EK)
HBF: Prestigious Spellcaster
HD3: VMC Oracle (Skill at Arms)
HD5: <>
EK2: <> (Combat)
HD7: VMC Oracle (Cantrip - Detect Magic / Guidance / Create Water)
HD9: <>
EK5: <> (Combat)
HD11: VMC Oracle (Curse Focus)
HD13: <>
EK9: <> (Combat)
HD15: VMC Oracle (Revelation - War Sight / Surprising Charge)

Training Weapon: +1 Combat Feat

End up with 7 Feats (4 Being Combat Only); as Human.

Assuming Wizard: 12 BAB at 15, 8th level Spells, 15th Caster Level. Perfect progression.

To answer above, No. Prestigious only helps with the Prestige class loss.

This just goes to show how much 2 levels of spellcasting is worth and what people are willing to pay.

No, we have a miscommunication.

What i'm asking is does each purchase of the feat give you +1 level of spells per day or just increase caster level? I understand it only works for the prestige your taking it for. a +1 to caster level doesnt increase you're level or number of spells per day so I'm just trying to figure out which it is.

It advances you fully, as if you gained the +1 Spells per Day class feature.

That includes spells known, spell levels, caster levels, etc.
