Oracles as support, And battle?

Advice

Hello everyone! I was just curious about something, You see, I like being able to support my party. I like being able to be of use both in combat and out, Some fighting skills (Even if they arent impressive) so I'm not useless in fights, But also maybe buffing or healing, And some assistance when not in fights too.

So I started looking at the Oracle, They are a divine caster like the Cleric so that is fun, I'l be able to heal some. But are Oracles capable support other then healing too? While also having some small fighing capabilities?

Dual cursed oracle of battle build for tripping or dirty tricks is a good support build.

If you want a healing oracle life is your option. They are less melee capable but they can channel and do the other healing. I would recommend the more active support build apposed to the life oracle reactive build.

Oracle is a good choice for what you want. You get all the Cure __ Wounds spells (if you make that choice - you could take the Inflict spells instead), and you can focus on support spells. The oracle gets 4 skill ranks, and makes a good "face". The Battle mystery gives you some nice combat abilities.

EDIT: Some will tell you to shun the Haunted curse, but I have played an oracle with that curse, and found that it was no big deal.

Oh! Thats awesome, I missed that you gain all the Cure or Inflict spells, When you mentioned it I read again and saw it. Thats awesome! Means I wont need to pick up the cure spells seperately ^_^

I dont think I'd want to be a Life Oracle as while I want to be able to do some healing I dont want to focus on it. The oracle does look like fun though ^_^ Gonna study the class info more carefully.

I'm playing a time oracle(seer archetype) in a game write now that does this, it is level ten though. Does things like cast prayer or blessing of fervour and teleports into a position where the slayer receives a flanking bonus and does divination stuff out of combat. If pressed to fight her MO is is quicken divine favour for +4/+4 and she drops her Sheild to smash people with her morning star in two hands. It's actually decent.
Last session I did 60+ damage in one round when the slayer went unconscious it was a nice surprise.

Archetypes to consider warsighted for more feat flexibilty or spirit guided for some casting flexibility.

Oracle using the Battle mystery is definitely in line with what you want, and you could also consider applying the Warsighted archetype (which primarily gives up static revelations for the flexibility of picking up combat feats on the fly).

I'd recommend using a reach weapon in order to generate AOOs for added offence, while leaving your standard actions open for either attacks or spells depending on the situation. You can find help with that sort of concept elsewhere, but the basic idea is to combine using a reach weapon with combat reflexes and a decent Dexterity to take multiple AOOs (and then perhaps get large-sized or otherwise expand your reach with feats or spells).

Thanks for all the helpful posts ^_^

I may add the option of being a Lunar oracle with an animal companion, so you can do both the buffing/healing and the fighting at the same time

I find that shamans offer a little more of everything compared to oracle.
I like the reach build with "Battle Master hex" with battle spirit. Then you can skip dex and still make 2 aoo per round + use your standard action to support spell or fortune hex...

Playing a Shaman with the Battle spirit now, combined with the Speaker for the Past archetype, and using a reach weapon. The archetype trades out the wandering spirit/wandering hexes for Ancestor and Time revelations (which would allow you to grab some pretty great options and keep some of the Oracle feel).

Can confirm this makes for a strong combatant with many other flexible options.

If you are considering a melee based Oracle or Shaman just be aware of the poor Fort save, as this can quickly cause things to come unstuck.
