Has anyone built a Witch race?

Has anyone built out an actual Witch race?

Think along the lines of these movies:
Stardust
Seventh Son
Last Witch Hunter
Beautiful Creatures

I think it would be a fun race to run in the right setting. I wanted to see if anyone had built one out.

I was thinking it could tie into the Hags as well...fallen witches or something.

I am not a real fan of the witch class...it's not bad but the more I think about it the more I like the witch as race and not a class.

Any thoughts or ideas would be welcomed as well.

Thanks,
Allendm

I think thats the whole point of changelings

The Changeling doesn't really fit what I am looking for. I am talking a race of witches older than mankind... Like I said I see Hags being tied to them and obviously Changelings would be tied to the Hags as offsprings.

If you look at the movies I provided Witches are much like Drow in Greyhawk and Forgotten Realms... Dark, sinister, and often unseen... Feared by the common folk. A few are good-hearted but they are scorned and hunted by their race as well.

One common theme is they all have a Dark Queen...so I want to work that in...which is why mentioned Drow...

That is what I am kind of going for...

OHH

Like UBER witches. Gotcha. I don't really think so, i kind of think night hags + a couple of demon lords were supposed to be the top of that tree. Interesting idea though.

I'd probably reflavor the whole thing to be linked to the first realm and have them be like the Eladrin to elves.

So basically Hags, then.

Shadow Lodge

No, hags with class levels in witch.

Makes me think of Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters (Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton, not the fairy tale)

I haven't attempted a race whose spellcasters are all witches with the society controlled by them. But I love the trope of a witch guarded by a troll or ogre (sort of a Wheel of Time Aes Sedai with a warder that's a dull brute instead of a graceful swordsman)

So the race could have an allied race similar to a Half-ogre or Half-giant devoted to their defense.

I would include the Hansel & Gretel movie as well. Along those themes. If you have watched the Last Witch Hunter it really lays out a cool set up for a witch race; how they came before the Human race and such. Which actually plays right into what Ryan Freire stated about the First Realm. Would work nicely in with the Fairies.

Not hags...

A playable race much similar to humans in the way drow is to elves. Hags could be a darker, cruder branch of the witch.

A witch could be of any class...but magical classes would be their preferred track.

I would like a reload of the Witchblood races (Changelings and their metamorphosed forms) and Covens that fleshes out the kernel of fascinating backstory that they currently have, but also makes the race entries and Bestiary entries make more sense, both individually and in combination. Currently, the kernel of something fascinating is there, but it is all just sort of thrown together, especially when the newer Bestiary entries appeared with no non-3rd-party corresponding race entries. Covens only got a few alternate spell-like abilities with the newer Bestiary entries, when what they really need is a reload that gives them an experience curve (right now, apart from a few alternate spell-like abilities, they are all about the same power regardless of the advancement of their members, apart from tougher members being harder to kill). Also, the Changeling race just isn't mechanically very good -- not only does a Constitution penalty fly in the face of what they can differentiate into, but apart from a smattering of physical abilities (natural weapons, etc.) and a Witch archetype, they actually are less proficient at Witchcraft than Halflings (no Jinx alternate racial trait, and no Creepy Doll alternate racial trait -- oh, the shame . . .). The Witchborn alternate racial trait helped close the gap, but it isn't enough by itself.
