RPG Superstar 2015 Top 8

1 person marked this as a favorite.

My old gaming compy may be dead, so no more Skyrim for me for now. (Mind you it is a very old machine, and I might be able to resurrect it). I have a laptop to compute on but it is not a gaming laptop so I am not sure what it will actually run (though I can probably safely run some much older games I was playing). Rather than get a $1200 new computer I'm thinking of just getting a full $400 Nintendo Switch (I already have the Lite) to play on my TV which may be more ergonomic for me anyway. But I don't know if I'll get Skyrim on the Switch, I don't think you can mod it, and while I don't mod heavily I kind of feel like I at least need the Unofficial Patch.

Ah well. I am playing Outer Worlds on my Switch Lite (the teeeny tiny screen is the only way I can stomach 1st person) and that's hella fun. But I am sad we may never know what happened to my grumpy orc werewolf heroine.

The Outer Worlds is a lot of fun! If you can get the DLCs for that they are worth the money.

Resurrecting this thread to share a little anecdote. I replaced my old laptop a few months ago, so now I'm playing Skyrim SE, although this anecdote doesn't have anything to do with SE content.

I did the quest Infiltration, where I stumbled upon a fort populated with bandits, but no apparent way to get in. Nearby, there's the castle's owner, Stalleo, and a couple of his bodyguards who asks me for help. The mission is to enter the fort via a secret back entrance, fight your way through the fort to the courtyard, and open the gate from the inside whereby Stalleo and his bodyguards will rush in to help me take over the fort.

I'm playing a stealth archer, so sniping the bandits as I made my way through the fort was very fun and satisfying. When I get to the courtyard, I decide to just finish off the remaining bandits, and then open the gate, looking all impressive to the Stalleo and his retinue.

After I finish off the last of the bandits in the courtyard, I notice some armored NPCs milling around outside the closed gate. I assume that it's the scripted NPCs for this quest who are supposed to come in when I open the gate to help out. I pull the lever and open the gate, and double the number of NPCs that I saw at Stalleo's camp trot inside. Stalleo is there, and I assume that the rest are his bodyguards. Well, one of those bodyguards comes up to me and says, "We're here to teach you a lesson!" He and two of the bodyguards are actually Hired Thugs. They become hostile and immediately start attacking me, which causes Stalleo and his bodyguards to start attacking the Hired Thugs.

It was no contest. The Hired Thugs wiped the floor with those body guards, and the only thing that saved Stalleo was that he was essential. I had a hard time of it, too, since I wasn't stealthed, but eventually I put down the last Hired Thug, found it was my arch-nemesis Bandit Highwayman who sent the Hired Thugs after me, and went back to see Stalleo standing in his courtyard next to the corpses of his men. He thanked me, gave me a reward, and started the lonely walk back to his camp.
