The class "Summoner" comes with this game, which is really cool. Now granted, I haven't read the rules cover to cover, because I assumed they are similar to the original base set. I did however scan through looking for any rules on summoning, and it seems very vague. So, how do you summon a monster card, by defeating it? Then, after you've summoned it, where does it go? Just displayed on the table like your familiar? Or in your hand? What exactly is the benefit to summoning? Do you add the "aquire" number to your skill roles? Or, does it simply add another die for skill roles? Then, once used, is it banished to the box? Like I said, very vague. Seems like a fun class, depending on the actual benefits of summoning. Thanks in advance!

pardon me, some of those "roles" should read "rolls", lol

Summoning works as described on Balazar's character card and cohort. There are no general summoning rules.
In his case, he has a straightforward power to discard a spell to get a monster into his hand.
And another power to add non-summoned monsters he defeats to his hand.
So no displaying or anything like that. They are just cards in hand (a big handsize is a plus here).
Once he has monsters in his hand, he has a couple powers available that let him do something meaningful with them. Again, on his card and cohort, with specific details about what to do with the monster as part of the power (iirc they all banish it to the box).
Note that the summoner class deck has three other summoners, two of which also utilize "monsters in hand" - though not in exactly the same manner as the WotR Balazar. But again, they tell you what and how.
Cheers.

Please do read the rulebook cover-to-cover. In fact, grab the Mummy's Mask rulebook PDF and read that one cover-to-cover, then refer to the Wrath one for Wrath-specific rules.
There are a large number of changes and clarifications that were made since Rise of the Runelords, and you're doing yourself a disservice by referring back to the RotR rulebook for general game information. The most recent rulebook (Mummy's Mask as of this post) contains the most up-to-date core game rules, but does not contain set-specific rules for other sets (such as how to handle mythic charges, Corrupted cards and the Redemption card in Wrath of the Righteous)
As for your actual question, Iceman is correct.
