Nearest Elven Community to Kintargo

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Greetings,
After spending all of my gaming in the Realms, I now find myself in the amazing world of Golarion - More specifically about to commence as a player in Hell's Rebels.

Can anyone please help me with a elven community not too far from Kintargo, that I can build into the backstory for my character, an elven rogue.

There's not a lot of huge elf-only communities in Golarion in general - for the most part, elves are incorporated into other larger communities. (The primary elf-only settlement is the kingdom of Kyonin, which is a bit far off to be considered local.) However, Kintargo is a very cosmopolitan city and a major port, and it'd definitely be easy for an elf to end up there on the way south from Varisia, which is one of the main centers of the elf population. (The Mierani Forest in Varisia in particular contains a sizeable number of elves.)

There is also another concept in Golarion culture that may work to your favor - the Forlorn, elves who have been abandoned by their parents and raised as part of human society (with appropriate attachment issues from seeing all their friends and family die several times over). These, of course, could end up anywhere humans and elves come into contact, and Kintargo would definitely qualify.

There is an aquatic elf community nearby, but your GM may not allow that race.

You're going to find Golarion to be very very different from the Forgotten Realms.

Outside of Kyonin the only communities of elves are in some very isolated places... such as the Snowcasters in the frozen north, the Ekujae in the Mwangi Jungle, and the hyperisolationist elves that inhabit the Mordant Spire, not that the other two are that open to Human intrusion.

Outside of that, it's scattered individuals among mostly Human towns. A city like Kintargo, would surely have a few Forlorn in it's population.

Keep in mind thought that even prior to the ascension of the Thrunes, Cheliax has always been a major human-first kind of place.

Nearest elven community to Kintargo is in Korvosa. They have there an enclave of elves formed from entourage of their ambassador, from Mierani Forest.

Thanks everyone for the replies. :)

Given the character of Korvosa, that's more like an elven ghetto. :)

This is the nearest elven settlement, for sure. That said, Kintargo is cosmopolitan enough that there are a few elves just hangin' around. You could be one, too!

Races

Kintargo is a human city, and as such, the bulk of its
citizens are humans, yet all of the races from the Core
Rulebook can be encountered within the city’s walls.
Of the humans, most are Chelaxian, with Taldans and
Varisians being the most commonly encountered
ethnicities after that.

Beyond the core races, aquatic elves, strix, tengu, and
tieflings make up the majority of the more unusual races
in the region. With the GM’s permission, playing one of
these races can give you some additional touchstones
during the Hell’s Rebels Adventure Path, but note that
some of these races, particularly the aquatic elves and
strix, come with significant advantages that might not
mesh well with your GM’s preferred play style.

As someone GMing this adventure path currently, I would strongly recommend against choosing to push for an aquatic elf PC and very strongly recommend against a strix.
