So we will be doing Starfinder compatible products, likely starting with some monster products. However we are open to suggestions at this point. What types of products do you want to see for Starfinder?

So uh, there are three of these threads huh? I guess I'll copy paste my replies to each of them :'D Its bit hard to know for sure what I want since Starfinder isn't released yet so I can't really comprehend my head in what starting books will cover, but I know one thing I will definitely need more of that there can't be enough of.

So regarding Pathfinder, I've avoided buying player material and mostly bought alternate campaign settings and adventures for those. Player material I've avoided because they might not fit Golarion(besides there are tons of pathfinder player options already with that delicious setting flavor) or I have no guarantee they won't be too powerful and I've avoided buying "generic" adventure material since those can't refer to Golarion directly so the flavor connection isn't as strong since they are more useful for me for homebrew campaigns.

Regarding Starfinder, there isn't that problem because space is mind bogglingly huge in scale. Like, 3rd party book featuring a completely new solar system in detail? Very easy to fit somewhere snuggly in space. And in space opera, you want to have tons of options in case players get lost in place, crash their ship, get thrown somewhere through wormhole, or just want to explore uncharted space. With scifi fantasy, you have even more options, like you could find fantasy civilization that wiped itself out in cataclysm, but left behind powerful magical artifacts. Or even low magic world with tech level of modern earth with new alien cultures. Imagination is the limit, and I would definitely need tons of potential material for players to encounter so that space doesn't feel small to them.

So yeah, what I'd want from 3rd party material is:
1) planets and solar systems with fully detailed cultures, ecology, industry/tech/trading/whatever
2) new non familiar(it'd be really boring if every 3rd party developers reveals new variation of space elves) alien races on those planets for pcs to discover
3) mercenaries, pirates, space churches, security companies, megacorps, etc to feature on those planets/space near the planet and statblocks for them. Surely whole setting won't have exactly one type of mercs with exact same tactics.
4) new alien creatures for player to discover and maybe guidelines on how to reskin other monsters so that not every planet has exactly the same creatures(and not every new culture uses same type of robots in exact same manner. Like maybe they have their ships be spherical in shape rather than plane shape)
5) Encounter maps, planet maps, ship maps, maps for different types of encounters would be nice of course :'D

So yeah, too long to read version: moar planets, moar systems, moar new stuff to discover on those planets, finding new alien space gods, encountering unknown ship, encountering variety of magical and non magical planets, etc, there can't be enough of that.

Regarding starting with monsters, I hope they would be new monsters and imaginitive not just archetypical since I'm sure paizo or one of 3rd parties is quick to cover all basic space monster tropes.

I think RIG is well placed to do scifi plant aliens and biological gear. Symbionts, Elven tree starships, etc

I agree. Our Verid race for Pathfinder is specifically called out as extra-terrestrial and mentions a "seeder" race. We will definitely be following up on that thread.

Hi CorvusMask,

Thanks for commenting, there are a lot of good suggestions there. Monsters will be mostly original as designing monsters is one of my favorite things to do for Pathfinder - I expect that to be true for Starfinder as well. I do admit there might be one or two classics that I might not be able to resist taking a swing at myself (salt vampire from Star Trek TOS, Aliens, mind controlling parasites) but would put some kind of unique twist on them.

Two things I would love to see

Detailed Planets and Solar Systems - space is huge, and the more we have, the more we can flesh out the universe.

Player focused material - I love extra options for characters, always have, always will.

Okay I can announce Rusted Iron Games first Starfinder Compatible product line!

We will be doing a line called Starfarers that each feature a new NPC ship crew. The crew will have a group background and motivations (such as exlporers, smugglers, etc.). Each individual NPC will also have personal background and motivations and information about their crew role on the ship. Each NPC will also have stat blocks at 3 different levels for added utility. Each Starfarers product will also feature a new ship design including deckplan and 3 different ship stat blocks - each appropriate to the NPC levels.

Starfarers can be used as enemies, friendly NPCs or quick pregenerated PCs if needed. You could also just swipe the ship designs to use for your own PCs or something else.

I plan to have the first editions of Starfarers available on the Starfinder release date of August 17th.

Mike went and took a vacation or something so he won't be back in the word mines for a while. He is going to be doing something Starfinder related for R.I.G. when he gets back, but it will more likely be a September release than on the August 17 release date.
