Okay, I see my mistake then.Wait a second... then... why is the CONSTRUCTION COST of a headband of vast intellect +2 listed as 4000gp and the MARKET PRICE of the same item is ALSO 4000gp??? I'm confused!
Because, as crafting no longer has an xp cost, you now pay full gp cost when making magical items?

But only when making INT boosting items? WTF? I'm pretty sure this is a typo that the first errata must've missed. Everything else has it's construction cost listed at 50%, but the headband is the only one at full price.

Channel the Gift
School: Evocation; Level Brd 3, Clr 3, Drd 3, Rgr 3, Sor/Wiz 3
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Components: V, S, DF
Range: Touch
Target: ally spellcaster touched
Duration: 1 rd or see text
Saving Throw: Will negates (harmless) or none
SR: Yes (harmless) or no
Description:
You channel magical power into the target to fuel their spellcasting. The next spell they cast of 3rd-level or less does not expend a spell slot; in effect, you are using your spell slot to power their spell. They must start casting this spell before your next turn, and the spell cannot have a casting time longer than 1 full round. Your alignment, prohibited schools, and other restrictions on your own spellcasting do not affect the target, nor do you suffer any backlash from the target's choice of spell.
If you target yourself with this spell, you may spontaneously cast any prepared spell of 3rd-level or lower without expending its spell slot on your next turn (this aspect of the spell has no effect if you are a spontaneous caster). The spell cast after channel the gift cannot have a casting time longer than 1 full round.
Sounds alright to me.
Hudak |
Ogay.
Hudak has 6,023 g.p. from the promissary and sale of wpns.
He buys a +1 buckler for 1,165 gp.
He buys a +2 belt of giant str for 2,000 gp (for Veth to enchant).
He buys a bag of holding for 2,500 g.p.
He buys an alchemist's lab for 200 g.p.
So he's got 6023-5865=158 g.p. to add to his stash.
I'll buy some horse chow and whatnot; the rest of that isn't that interesting.

Got it. Of course, Fatey and I have already met in the flesh. I must have made a terrible first impression, yammering on about lutefisk and similarly awful stuff.
LOL, it broadened my cultural horizons. In hindsight, I wish we'd met up somewhere quieter. Would have facilitated conversation a bit better. Ah well. At least we met! And there was beer!

Again.....that dragon on your right arm (unless the picture's backwards) that tat is bad ass.
I'm gonna get me a tat eventually.
Thanks! Is it the one visible on my profile picture? Or, rather, the one that wraps, or the one that doesn't? The non-wrapping one is on my left arm; I had that one done while I lived in Russia. Great craftsmanship, but their ink was awful - I had to re-colour the whole thing after about half a year, as it had turned a light grey...
Vattnisse |
Australian shepherds are usually great dogs. It probably just wants to herd you somewhere.
The tattoo on my right arm took 14 hours of work, and when she coloured in the area over the collarbone.... Man, it hurt. I wouldn't recommend that to anyone. But once the outline is there, you just have to suck it up. At that point, quitting's not really an option.
I also have one that covers most of my back. It took 26 hours of work. Again, it wasn't exactly fun.
Mothman |
Technically I'm on facebook ... but I havent actually gone to the site or logged onto my account for almost a year. I think I still have a friend request from Heath sitting there - I'm not ignoring you man, I'm just kind of over facebook.
But if there's anything you want to know about me Vatters, feel free to ask.
Aubrey the Malformed |
I know......I'm "manpretty."
You got a real purty mouth.
I'm afraid I'm not on any of these things - certainly with no profile on them. If you google Alex Fell you can find my (now rather old) Amazon reviews but apart from that I never really got with the whole Facebook thing. I prefer to retain my mystery.
Elisile Starbrow |
Elisile intends to scribe some spells into her spellbook; see invisibility, glitterdust and summon monster II (assuming Veth will allow her to copy the former two from his book). She will then scribe a couple of scrolls (mage armour and see invisibility – she may scribe some more on the journey if they have time).
She will also buy a Ring of Protection +1, 10 adamantine arrows, 20 cold iron arrows, 20 silver arrows, scrolls of detect magic, haste and fly, and two potions of cure moderate wounds.
Total cost of all of the above should come to 4751gp.
She can chip a bit into the lab / bag of holding / supply fund if needs be.
Mothman |
Spell craft checks for learning / scribing spells:
See Invisibility. Spellcraft: 12+12 = 24
Glitterdust. Spellcraft 6+12 = 18
Summon Monster II. Spellcraft 11+12 = 23
Total cost: 120gp
Spell craft checks for scribing scrolls: 8+12 = 20, 18+12 = 30
Scroll of Mage Armour (CL4): 1 x 4 x 25 = 100gp
Scroll of See Invisibility (CL4): 2 x 4 x 25 = 200gp

No problem on the copying glitterdust and see invisibility. Veth won't need his spellbook on the days he is crafting (well, beyond the hour in the morning when he memorizes). Also, be aware, under the PF rules, you can cast prohibited spells now, they just take up two slots instead of one. So if you want to scribe scorching ray or fireball or something, have at it.
Elisile should totally go for the Arcane Archer PrC when her BAB gets high enough. The new version is 100x cooler than the old one!
EDIT: Also, why are you buying a scroll of detect magic? It's a cantrip. You can cast it at-will if you allocate one of your 0-level slots to it. Unless you have some kind of plan for it?
EDIT #2: After looking at your sheet, I realize you MEANT dispel magic. :)
Vethran Tallomane |
Okay then, picking up a scroll of channel the gift and adding it to my book the same afternoon as the two buff spells...
375gp for the scroll, 90gp for the inks. 465gp total.
Read magic automatically lets me understand it.
Spellcraft check to copy it (it's an Evocation, so I get +2). DC is 15 + spell level (so, 18): 18 + 13 + 2 = 33. Yeah... I think I got it. :)
Also, Mothman, if Elisile would like to upgrade the spell stored in her rapier, Vethran has a higher INT bonus now and could put, say, dispel magic or ghoul touch in it if you like? Or, even if I put a new blindness/deafness in, the save DC would be 18 now!

Scroll of Mage Armour (CL4): 1 x 4 x 25 = 100gp
Scroll of See Invisibility (CL4): 2 x 4 x 25 = 200gp
Vethran will pay to have Elisile scribe him a scroll of see invisibility as well, since he won't have the time to do it himself with all the Wondrous Item crafting he's doing. Should only cost 100gp worth of materials, not 200. It's 12.5 x caster level x spell level. I'll knock off 100gp if Elisile will do it for me. :)

I thought bucklers weren't held. Aren't they strapped to your forearm?
You can fire a bow or crossbow without a penalty while it is strapped on. It only mentions losing the AC bonus if you fight with an off hand weapon. I can kinda imagine it still working defensively. The arm out front holding the bow has your buckler strapped on it and you'd only have to move it a little to bring it in and attempt blocking something.
Anyways. The rules aren't very clear there because it also doesn't mention you losing the AC bonus while fighting with a two handed weapon which is harder to imagine how it might work.

Can do, no cost to Veth (in exchange for allowing her to copy the spells from the spellbook).
As for cost, I must have been looking at selling price and confusing that with construction cost.
As well as the scroll of See Invisibility for Vethran, Elisile will scribe the following additional scrolls on the trip: True Strike, Blur, Acid Arrow. Spellcraft rolls: 17+12, 8+12, 13+12, 11+12.

solemn promise to Aubrey:
if I, Hudak the Shoanti, ever end up shooting my bow, I swear right now in front of the whole intire interweb, I won't try to do so whilst holding my buckler for the a.c. bonus.
This is a bit ticky as the PFRPG is now a bit ambiguous. In 3.5, you retained your AC bonus if you wore a buckler and used a bow. Now, it says you don't if you are using a "two-handed weapon" which may, or may not, be a revision of the rules. Personally, I prefer the 3.5 version.

Well... thank you very much, then. Added to my inventory. Did you want to upgrade the spell stored in your rapier? If so, assume Vethran complies and note my save DC for whatever spell you choose from my spellbook.

Well, just to let you know, this Facebook thing is just not going to happen for me. I just signed up on an experimental basis and it kept saying I should set up Frank Trollman as my friend. It was extremely insistent that I do this, and the notion of sharing a website with that person was so sickening to me I had to deactivate my account and have a shower. I felt like I was being stalked. If you want to get hold of me, it's malexanderfell at hotmail dot com. You'll wait a long time to get me on Facebook.
