Craft skill

Rules Questions

Does the craft locks skill includes craft Chains, Keys, Locks, and Manacles? Or is it only locks?

Keys, locks, and manacles all seem appropriate since they are all related to locks, but I don't actually know.

I looked for hours in the rules and I can't find a clear answer.

I would say they are related and allow it. I can also see where 'a certain type' of GM would not allow it.

My rationale, the lock requires metalwork and a high degree of precision for the internal components. It also requires the lock casing to be made which is somewhat simpler. A key is an integral part of a lock and so must be part of the same skill and a manacle is simple to make by comparison to the lock itself.

I would be wary of playing in a game run by the 'certain type' of GM. The game is not likely to be much fun.

Thank you, that's helpful. I will ask my GM next time we meet.

I would allow Craft Restraints to cover all of that. Even Craft Metalwork capable of crafting any non weapon metal item wouldn't be broken given the limitations on crafting mundane items.
