Looking over what I've selected for Noya and I might change a trait or two...

Fixed link issue and moved list to new page

Complete with Alias
Noya: Human(northern) Barbarian
Erin: Pixie sorcerer
Jura: Human Fighter
Sebastian: Human Ranger

Interest:
Threeshades : ?Human(Kushan)?
DeviousDevious : ??
Teiidae : ??
Michael_Hopkins : ??

-------------------------------------------------------
I think is is safe to say we know who'll be selected, if there are no new submissions based on this list.

@GM
With Daz I can also make a few Monsters/Apostles so the group gets a visual, and I can also make a fight scene.

Quick Fight scene examples:

Note that the Fiend is using the old G1 base, while Noya is using the new G3F base, you can see the difference in detail.

Never assume, man.

Thanks for compiling the submission profiles, though. :)

Making renders won't be necessary, but if it helps for you to enjoy the game, I'm not stopping you.

That is why I put, "I Think" at the beginning, since I don't know if anyone has PMed you their complete character and not posted it here, and there are a few other factors and factors I've not taken even thought of.

Having a common visual of a scene, I find helps keep players and GM in having a common idea of a scene for when they start describing something,
heck they might take something from the image and use it as a launch pad for idea of what they do.
I've launch a few ideas just based the map of image of the area, and they were quite cinematic.

And if a fight scene is epic enough I might make a render of the fight in desktop aspect ratio.

Which I think is cool for both the GM and the players if they really love the campaign and the fight they have a way of putting in the desktop and if they what can show it to their fellow gamers.

I get that and if it were your game, absolutely. It's a nice idea but I'm just not running with it. I'll be honest and just say that some of your posts have rubbed me up the wrong way a tad and I'm a little concerned you'll dictate how I run things. There was no need to justify your reasoning when I'd already given you my answer. I know what I'm doing and I noticed you were speaking for me in previous posts, when if anyone has any questions they can ask me directly.

This isn't a personal dig. It's more a fair warning because things like this make me lose motivation and then the game stops. I plan to run this fully to the end, so need to make sure those I pick don't have a negative impact on my game for myself or the other players.

Of note, my decision will likely be made on Wednesday. I've PM'd the other three people to find out if they're still interested. :)

Here's Threeshades' character. Backstory is still in the works. But I am 90% sure the mechanics are finished.

Ah wait, except equipment.

Thanks! I've just finished adding to Sebastian and Erin's backstory, already finishing Jura's the other day, so I'll take a look at it now. :)

You guys don't need a linked back story btw. I've already put a lot of work into setting things in motion, so place your trust in me and I'm pretty certain you won't regret it.

I'm pretty excited for what's in store and how it all plays out, so I'm hoping nobody drops out once selected!

A little more info on character creation/ruling:

- Starting wealth is average.
- Like DnD 5e, if you roll in your threat range it's an instant critical, though this is universal and not just PC specific.
- I'd like everyone to be able to add at least one post daily, though naturally if you need time off or are going away, just let me know and I'll probably GMPC you during your absence or think of something to allow for a temporary departure.
- This is mainly story driven, but just like in the world of Berserk, there will be a lot of action.
- If you want to try something flashy or unusual (for example, running up something and slashing it before jumping off), go for it. Be as stylish as you want and if I think it's possible I'll ask you to roll the relevant checks to see if you succeed or not.
- I'll be making this as cinematic as possible at appropriate times, so like above I encourage you to do the same. :)
- If something feels too tough to fight or if you have a bad feeling about certain situations, go with your gut. Fight or flight could be the difference between dying or living to see another day.

Lastly, do you guys have any further questions?

I already like your GMing style

Instant crits? I assume you still have to be able to hit on the number rolled?

Oh yes I advise being careful with the auto crits. It works in 5e because abilities that improve your crit range and/or damage are few and far between, and all weapons only crit on 20s and only have double damage. In pathfinder crits can become very powerful of you build for them. And auto crits take out at least one feat from the chain.

Another question, should we bother about languages?

I have a +4 Int, so i know a metric crapton of them, but i can think of only 2 languages that are relevant throughout the manga: Kushan and whatever they speak in Midland (which in this setting would probably take the role of Common)

Jura - Yea, we'll go with that. So if your threat is 15-20, if you roll a 15 and have a +4 to hit, but the AC of the enemy is 20, you won't hit and the crit will be wasted. That's a good balance between the two systems.

Three - There are.....three...known nationalities in Berserk - Chuder, Kushan and Midland. I'll use them knowing I'll likely have mixed nationalities within the party. :)

Something worth mentioning - Spellcasters, please run your spells by me in the discussion thread (once it's up), as I'll only be allowing ones fitting of this world. That means Enlarge and Shrink Person are no-no's.

Several more things of note that I've just come across/thought about:

- With regards to character abilities, I'll likely have no problem with Ex abilities or for the magic users, many of their Sp or Su abilities, but if you run these choices by me at level up etc, it'll save a lot of trouble later down the line.

Using the Barbarian as an example, I have no problem with things like "Come and Get Me or Bestial Leaper", but ones that give you claw, horn or magic abilities etc are off the cards.

- Also, someone on here mentioned on Noya's profile that Noya has two Racial Traits that aren't on the PRD. They are in the companion books, sure, but I'm only allowing the usual Racial Traits from the ARG. These two cost RP and as such, won't be allowed.

- So, no RP costing traits. If you have them, please re-select.

- Eldritch Heritage is banned to help represent the low magic of the world.

- No Draconic bloodlines or relation to Dragons are allowed.

- This is a more realistic take on the Pathfinder system, so magic will be low, healing potions don't exist (though there is an equivalent, just very rare). This story is more about "almost" every day people just living out their lives and trying to survive, so the focus is on the story above all else and more importantly, the struggle.

- The more serious side of me also has a warning (on the off-chance someone does this) and that is if I find out anyone has been choosing things not allowed, you'll likely be kicked out of the game. That is for example, doing any of the above or taking abilities and spells in secrecy. Every time you level up, please just list everything that level gives you in the discussion thread. That way I can keep track of it better.

These rules are also only for the goodness of the campaign. There may be more in the future, but that's all I can think of for now. I want most melee classes to be primarily just that, so that everyone fills a unique role. It's a passion project of mine, so I need to make sure it's as accurate to the world as possible. As such, I'm confident the story will be incredibly enjoyable, but to keep the theme I also need to be strict around character creation and several other aspects. My head is literally a Berserk database. It's my all-time favourite Manga and the objective is to have your story going on while Guts is on Skellig, essentially running an unknown story of characters so when fans are watching the show or reading the Manga, they can truly believe their characters are existing in the world, unofficially or not. It's a nice nod to fans and for people who have no knowledge of it, it'll be a good learning experience and worthy investment, because the plot is based on your characters and their lives.

Noya, please change those Racial traits to two from the PRD. The other traits you've chosen are fine. :)

Pathfinder Society - Doesn't exist in this world, but the Pathfinder Society traits that don't relate to the Pathfinder Society are still allowed, such as the 3 extra rounds of rage for a Barbarian etc.

That does throw my character off considerably. I was going to provide healing by brewing potions.

Could you take a look at my racial trait then? Would rather it get's vetoed now than later in the game.

Shadowhunter (2 RP): Characters with this trait deal 50% weapon damage to incorporeal creatures when using non-magical weapons (including natural and unarmed attacks), as if using magic weapons. They also gain a +2 bonus on saving throws to remove negative levels, and recover physical ability damage from attacks by undead creatures at a rate of 2 points per ability score per day (rather than the normal 1 point per ability score per day). Humans can take this trait in place of their bonus feat, also gaining Iron Will as a bonus feat

Same,
I noticed it in Jura's profile and took it since it would of been a great help given what we could potentially fight, that and Iron will which was on my feat selection list so two birds one stone.

d20pfsrd.com is better then the PRD in terms of how much content is there, though it has not been getting more content as of late.

The OP and all following posts never mentioned that Companion content was off-limits until now. Even after going through a number of characters some whom had Companion content.

And I'm getting the feeling of rule-instabilty, from the "There may be more in the future, but that's all I can think of for now" statement, so now I'm really thinking of Withdrawing from this.

Three - There's no problem there. I was referring to what you'd find around the world. Knowing Berserk, you know what magically heals. That exists and the self-sufficiency of the party meant I'd already allowed for someone to play a healer type, which is why your character is perfect....that and she's just really cool and flavourful.

Jura, Noya - It's more the fact it costs RP. That's literally the only reason. Of the two I saw on Noya's page, Shadowhunter was the one I was almost willing to run with, but again, increasing RP isn't fair on the others. The original post was literally just an interest check. Everything I thought of at the time was what I included and I've since then just been adding to it everytime you guys have had questions or something has sprung to mind. This didn't start off as a recruitment thread, just an interest check and I didn't even know RP costing traits existed beforehand, so that's why I've addressed it now. I don't own every book. I mainly stick to using the PRD and buy the occasional companion.

I agree Shadowhunter would be of great help, but a peasant wouldn't be able to stab a ghost. This is why I've emphasised "more realistic". Guts can because his weapon has the equivalent of Aberration Bane on it.

Noya - This wasn't a recruitment thread. It was an interest check. There is no rule instability. I've been adding more since it started to turn into a recruitment thread. It's simply a case of if I come across something that I didn't notice, I'll address it, so I've said that to cover any future amendments. Let's not play pick on the GM here.

I've been up front the whole way through and address things as they come along. I can't predict the future.

My wording specifically said "may" be changes in the future. I've addressed all that I can see needs addressing, but things can come up, so I "may" have to address things in the future. There's no certainty.

Jura - Yea, please change that.

How I work - I'll glance at your character profiles when they're made, but won't fully check them until I'm selecting who will be in my game. Then if I notice anything during the selection stage that needs adjusting, mentioning, addressing or updating, I'll give you a little time to tweak things before the game actually starts. This makes the most sense to me and wastes the least amount of time.

An easy change, Iron Will is still a very good feat to have regardless.

As much as I would love to be in the game, I am withdrawing.

I am getting a sense that we'll be butting heads on a number of topics and am getting a even bigger sense of rule-instabilty which I really am not a fan of, as such I don't want to let this linger to the point of possibly being selected and then dropping, so yeah I'm withdrawing.

Jura - Thanks a lot for understanding.

Noya - I didn't want to exclude you, but I'm glad the feeling was mutual.

Oh okay, then I have no complaint. Good to know.

Yea, I sent you a PM btw just shedding light on things. :)

Selections are being made on Wednesday, then I'll iron out the beginning of the story, with the intention to start a maximum of a week from wednesday. I've got a lot done, but I have a lot to do still.

Here is a submission for a Weapon Master Fighter. Specializing in Sunder/Intimidate

OK guys, characters are going to be selected tomorrow morning so if you need to make any adjustments to your characters, you still have a bit of time. :)

I put in background and descriptions, it's a bit brief, unfortunately i don't jave too much time right now.

Thanks three! I'm just waiting on Erin to finish their backstory now. Hopefully that'll be with me very soon.

I've checked your backstory and it doesn't actually need adding to at all. I've linked four of the five of you together in very subtle ways and it'll be fun to see how that all unfolds, if it even does at all.

Hey all, just a quick one tonight as I'm a bit ill:

Jura
Izsha
Rodrick
Sebastian
Erin

You're all in. I should have the start of the campaign up and written within the next seven days. Until then, I have a few tweaks to make to Erin and Rodrick's stories, then we're good to go. :)

Cheers

Discussion is now up, as is the campaign description. :)

Hey Berserk fans, I'm looking for one more player to join the current group!

This is a roleplay heavy game and currently in the party we have:

Rodrick: Human Fighter
Jura: Human Fighter
Sebastian: Human Ranger
Erin: Pixie Sorcerer

I'm looking for another human character. You can be any age (I won't be using the age modifiers to adjust your stats), but you can play a Midlander, Chuder or Kushan. The character we lost was a Kushan Alchemist.

This is a low-magic setting, but magic is allowed depending on how well it fits into the setting and how interesting your backstory is. So far, the only character who can use magic fully in the party is the female Elf (Pathfinder Pixie).

Point buy is 25.
We're using Background Skills.
Two traits, but none can cost RP.
Average Starting wealth.
Special: No confirmation roll for crits. If it hits their AC, it auto-confirms. This is universal, though.

Combat: Roll20

The story is taking place currently where the Berserk Manga is up to. It's set in Midland and is going on during the current Manga events, while Guts is at Elfhelm. As such, you'll know of The Black Swordsman, The World Tree and The (current) Band of the Hawk.

The party have literally just left the starting pub, had their first encounter and are currently outside the front gates of The (deceased) Counts Castle Town, so bare all of the above in mind when creating your backstory.

You'll get as much out of this as you put in and if you can stick to posting daily, even better. We need to pick up the pace of this game really.

Other points:

- If something feels too tough to fight or if you have a bad feeling about certain situations, go with your gut. Fight or flight could be the difference between dying or living to see another day.

Lastly, do you guys have any further questions?
