Ha! Funny.

Yes I did expect that some would not actually submit anything, as either they second guessed what they actually wanted, or life got in the way, or they couldn't really come up with anything that would fit.

I do believe we've already had two of those already. That said there are a good amount of submissions. I also need to get around to finishing my edited backstory! XD

I'm getting mine all ready, soon. I still have time unless storytellers cuts the recruitment short.

RoW was my #2, mostly because I'd just missed the other Iron Gods game and was hoping to just tweak that submission.

No worries there, unless there is some complete lack of interest I let Recruitment run its course.

You forgot Magnus.

Sorry Magnus, think I missed yours because it was in a reply. Updated below:

Vanulf Wulfson - Magnus Olafson Magus (Hexcrafter Archetype)
Timeskeeper - Frjya Elvanna Witch (Winter Witch Archetype)
Kamenhero25 - Freyr Elvanna Ranger (Witchguard Archetype)
CA Jademan - Grey Eht Witch (Herb Witch Archetype)
Jereru - Lanyssa Inquisitor (Witch Hunter Archetype)
Adsapiens - Gadoongo Heineous Witch (White Witch Archetype)
William Nightmoon - Grievous Norn Witch (Ley Line Guardian)
Servant6 - Tybvar Stonestead Shaman (Witch Doctor Archetype)
Tundran - Lurruk Shaman (Witch Doctor Archetype)
Finn Garrety - Urgosh the Minotaur Inquisitor (Witch Hunter Archetype)
Simeon - Nana Ingrid Witch (Hedge Witch Archetype)
The Emerald Duke - Hendra Krammier Slayer (Witch Killer Archetype)
Ouachitonian - Cnut Bjornsson Ranger (Witchguard Archetype)

As for the others, perhaps they didn't see the switch over to here. Not sure why this would be, but it is possible.

I know I voted for the RoWoW (Reign of Winter of Witches!) and built my witch quickly :)

It's probably easier if you change from "adsapiens" to "The Chess" though since I post more using this profile. If possible, too, could you please fix my archetype? It's White Haired Witch :) thanks!

Yeah sorry, I'm one of those that voted for Reign of Winter but couldn't come up with anything that got me really excited to pay it with the witch theme.

That said I have a couple exciting ones that I submitted to previous Council of thieves games that I'd like to try my hand at for that. A Rogue Roof Runner, Sable Company Marine and a Vigilante.

No apologies necessary, that seems pretty common that Interest checks yield only half, or less than half, of actual submissions :-)

Now with fewer errors:

Vanulf Wulfson - Magnus Olafson Magus (Hexcrafter Archetype)
Timeskeeper - Frjya Elvanna Witch (Winter Witch Archetype)
Kamenhero25 - Freyr Elvanna Ranger (Witchguard Archetype)
CA Jademan - Grey Eht Witch (Herb Witch Archetype)
Jereru - Lanyssa Inquisitor (Witch Hunter Archetype)
The Chess - Gadoongo Heineous Witch (White Haired Witch Archetype)
William Nightmoon - Grievous Norn Witch (Ley Line Guardian)
Servant6 - Tybvar Stonestead Shaman (Witch Doctor Archetype)
Tundran - Lurruk Shaman (Witch Doctor Archetype)
Finn Garrety - Urgosh the Minotaur Inquisitor (Witch Hunter Archetype)
Simeon - Nana Ingrid Witch (Hedge Witch Archetype)
The Emerald Duke - Hendra Krammier Slayer (Witch Killer Archetype)
Ouachitonian - Cnut Bjornsson Ranger (Witchguard Archetype)

Tally:
Witches - 5 (Would break down by archetype but all five are different.)
Rangers - 2
Inquisitors - 2
Shamans - 2
Magi - 1
Slayers - 1

And now edited so there would be even fewer errors, thanks Magnus.

I believe the plural would be Magi.

Here's my (more or less) completed submission. Bjørn, as a Hexcrafter, will focus a fair bit on debuffing spells along with the more common damage-dealing spells. I think he'll try to invest quite a bit in fire spells as he's a witch hunter and wants to oppose the Winter Witches, so fire seems a logical choice. He doesn't get any abilities from it until Level 7, but he does have the Boreal bloodline of the sorcerer. I just need to pick a feat and get his backstory on the profile, but otherwise he's finished.

I'm considering Hexcrafter as well.

Anyone interested in tying together some backstories? Nana Ingrid would certainly be more than happy to take anyone under her wing.

I'm down for shared backstories.

Vanulf Wulfson - Magnus Olafson Magus (Hexcrafter Archetype)
Timeskeeper - Frjya Elvanna Witch (Winter Witch Archetype)
Kamenhero25 - Freyr Elvanna Ranger (Witchguard Archetype)
CA Jademan - Grey Eht Witch (Herb Witch Archetype)
Jereru - Lanyssa Inquisitor (Witch Hunter Archetype)
The Chess - Gadoongo Heineous Witch (White Haired Witch Archetype)
William Nightmoon - Grievous Norn Witch (Ley Line Guardian)
Servant6 - Tybvar Stonestead Shaman (Witch Doctor Archetype)
Tundran - Lurruk Shaman (Witch Doctor Archetype)
Finn Garrety - Urgosh the Minotaur Inquisitor (Witch Hunter Archetype)
Simeon - Nana Ingrid Witch (Hedge Witch Archetype)
The Emerald Duke - Hendra Krammier Slayer (Witch Killer Archetype)
Ouachitonian - Cnut Bjornsson Ranger (Witchguard Archetype)
JDPhipps - Bjorn Egilsson Magus (Hexcrafter/Cabalist Archetypes)

Tally:
Witches - 5
Rangers - 2
Inquisitors - 2
Shamans - 2
Magi - 2
Slayers - 1

On the International Women's Day, Lanyssa wants you to remember that not all witches are bad. Most of them are misunderstood hard workers, victims of a mean society that doesn't accept that a woman can have the power to do as she wills and to help her community.

Thankfully, Golarion and most other game settings are created with a principle of equality. Sadly, the real world isn't, and recently I mentioned a fact that reflects this clearly (the Salem trials). A game full of 'witches' can be a good emblem of where we want to go with humanity's future.

Sorry about it, I just thought this game brought so many coincidences that I had to say something.

Dudes can be witches, too. We're all in this together :)

That's the spirit!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Full disclosure, Hendra Krammier (named loosely after a member of the inquisition focused on witch hunts) has a loathing for arcane magic users in general. Which is to say, she is not singling out witches specifically, nor is she biased on gender or race (she is drow after all, so all other races are by default 'lessor'.... why discriminate further?) or orientation. Hendra hunts based on two simple yes/no questions: do you practice arcane magic, and if so are you on my list?

;)

In all seriousness, The Emerald Duke fully supports women being allowed to do anything they are qualified to do, and getting paid the same as a man for the same amount and type of work.

I'm a bad witch. I lay down the pain. Of curse im only bad because of my tragic backstory that paizo loves to eat.

Okay! Finally got Fryja's backstory updated!

Don't judge! XD

I can't edit her backstory from my phone so it had to wait till I could be at my computer.

I like personally like the way you two twinned your characters... literally.

Aww, thank you! Kamenhero25 suggested the twin idea and I suggested the name. ^_^

The character concept originally started with something I wrote for myself ages ago with the intention that my character had fled Irrisen believing his sister was dead and he would meet her again in Irrisen around level 6, so he'd take Leadership and have his twin as his cohort. Then Timekeeper asked about linked backstories with a character concept that I could adapt my character to perfectly and I was thrilled to go along with it.

Personally, I think it turned out pretty great. I just hope we get picked so we can have some fun with it.

Given the amount of games I run or play in I don't think I'll submit a character for RoW. I'll wait for the others.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

So if my math and calendar are right, there should be 4 or so days left to submit an application. The following folks dotted for interest or asked questions about submission rules but have not formally withdrawn from consideration:

Teiidae
stormcrow27
Monkeygod
Johnnycat93

You guys still have time if I am not mistaken. Same for anyone who has been ghosting and toying around with the idea of submitting something. Rules laid out by Shadow are here, with a few additions and clarifications following it.

Good luck all!

Just an update, I need to finish writing up my character's backstory but otherwise I'm done. The jist of it is Bjørn used to be trained by witches in magic, but some time ago he turned against them after they were responsible for the death of his wife. While he still uses the magic they taught him to use, he hunts them when he can to protect others from what he views as a menace. Former people who work for the Winter Witches aren't a problem, he views them as kindred souls.

Unsure I'm going to apply, was waiting to get a 3pp book to submit something unique, but I don't it's going to be released in time :(

Well... I had a backstory but Paizo are it, like it always does to my best characters. Will have something up doon, I'm headed to work ATM

OK.

Ugh, I hate that. No worries, even a brief background is sufficient here.

I want to get my Nazgul like witchy character out in the field, but I'm kinda in the same camp as Monkeygod. Not sure if I should make it anyways or put the rest of my focus in vampires. :)

Submitting a Hexcrafter, Faethara. An elf with talent for the arcane, trained in combat, and a worrying interest in the occult, even if it's with good intentions. She's also spent her whole life in temperate zones and certainly has never been in the freezing cold.

Also, I know very little about how Reign of Winter actually starts, so I can adjust the premise some if it's needed. Plan to focus on Strength, two-handing the longsword when she isn't casting.

Four days, almost to the hour to finalize submissions for Reign of Winter.

Second Darkness Vampire Recruitment will start the 19th.

I thought it was the 16th? Or are you just informing us you're moving it?

I'm moving it out a few days so I can get RoW up and running. I already have my alias and the Gameplay and OOC thread ready but I want to get the initial posts up as I will likely have Prologues to bring the players together at Heldren.

Right now I have 15 submissions. Due to the large size of submissions I'll probably take 6-8 players instead of the original 5-7 I had planned.

So everyone knows I will take into account party mix, posting experience (though not too heavily as I like a mix of new players too), and backgrounds into consideration when I select for the game. No novels necessary, an interesting hook is enough for me. Though I have been known to write extensive backgrounds for character submissions, for a level 1 character it's not necessary.

I agree with that. The majority of my most background deep characters have been developed ingame, thanks to GM questions about the past or flashbacks. And it's usually easier than thinking the whole 'story of my life' in one go.

For me it has always been about discovering what the character wants to tell me about him or her self. Sometimes characters are very open about their pasts and what formed them, other times they keep their cards closer to their vests and I have to prod them just to get a hook from them. If that makes any sense at all.

Anyway, updated submissions list:

Vanulf Wulfson - Magnus Olafson Magus (Hexcrafter Archetype)
Timeskeeper - Frjya Elvanna Witch (Winter Witch Archetype)
Kamenhero25 - Freyr Elvanna Ranger (Witchguard Archetype)
CA Jademan - Grey Eht Witch (Herb Witch Archetype)
Jereru - Lanyssa Inquisitor (Witch Hunter Archetype)
The Chess - Gadoongo Heineous Witch (White Haired Witch Archetype)
William Nightmoon - Grievous Norn Witch (Ley Line Guardian)
Servant6 - Tybvar Stonestead Shaman (Witch Doctor Archetype)
Tundran - Lurruk Shaman (Witch Doctor Archetype)
Finn Garrety - Urgosh the Minotaur Inquisitor (Witch Hunter Archetype)
Simeon - Nana Ingrid Witch (Hedge Witch Archetype)
The Emerald Duke - Hendra Krammier Slayer (Witch Killer Archetype)
Ouachitonian - Cnut Bjornsson Ranger (Witchguard Archetype)
JDPhipps - Bjorn Egilsson Magus (Hexcrafter/Cabalist Archetypes)
TheSilverDreamer - Faethara Magus (Hexcrafter Archetype)

Tally:
Witches - 5
Rangers - 2
Inquisitors - 2
Shamans - 2
Magi - 3
Slayers - 1

i am enjoying the them pack adventure...

now if i could find someone willing to run Throne of Night... that is one hell of a show.

Dunno if Dwarf vs Drow table with the end battle replaced by pvp would work but it sure would be interesting...

^^^
Now this you can trust.

It's too bad the rest of the books are never coming out. :(

Did the Company go under? I run Way of the Wicked and that is pretty interesting so far.

Looks interesting but I had my fill of PvP to be sure.

Storyteller Shadow wrote:

No, the company itself is still going I think, but Throne of Night is essentially dead. It was a Kickstarter in like, 2012? Book 1/6 came out in late 2013, and there's been nothing since. I think aside from one "Here's some art" post, there haven't even been any updates posted in nearly two years. It's a real shame, the first book is great.

Really ???

the guy who created WoTW was pretty active on the boards during all the time that adventure was released... its a very good quality work

Yup, same guy, no idea what happened with Throne of Night.

Yeah I was there for it. To this day I'm not sure if it was a cash job or if the stress got to him. Either way it's a damn shame because the work was good.
