Interest Check / Poll for Multiple Game Ideas

Recruitment

That is a very helpful link, many thanks. I'll be taking an in-depth look at at least some of those files coming up here. I'm also thinking/planning on when I want to open Recruitment, which I might do a little earlier than I'd said and leave it open longer, with the explicit knowledge that I may not be able to respond to questions for a while at a time. Not certain of that just yet, though.

Also, while Star Wars still has a solid lead, the other ideas are still in close competition, with Gates Ascendant and Grim City Nights currently edging out the other two. If people have interest in those games, please keep speaking up! As was mentioned, I'm considering running two of these.

My suggestion for Gates Ascendant, regarding gestalt, is a variant I've seen a few times on these boards. Obviously this is only if you're worried or concerned normal gestalt would be too powerful:

One class(primary) is chosen which gives you all your numerical bonuses, such as HD, BAB, Saves, etc.

However, you combine class skills, and of course still gain class features of both.

IE, if you pick fighter and wizard, and fighter is your main choice, you would get good BAB, d10s, good fort, poor will, 2+Int skills.

You have all of the class skills for both your classes, and their features as well(Bravery, bonus feats, spellcasting, arcane bond, weapon/armor training, etc)

Another idea, regarding being demigods, might be to check out the Godbound rules. DM Rednal is running a recruitment that uses them, but with it being so close to the holidays, I didn't have enough time to properly check them out.

Also possible is using the 3.5 Accession rules, which also are amazing for portraying deities of various power levels.

Finally, while the godling classes themselves might be too powerful for you(many feel that way), I think utilizing the lineage domains might be a really good idea for this game.(provided you don't go with one of the above other suggestions.)

I've also played a kind of demi-gestalt where each character gets a no-cost VMC; that worked well.

Also, I'll second the Godbound ruleset as one of the best I've seen for playing half-divinities (plus it's available for free).

I'd play a Godbound game you run, no question. That system has so much potential, even if I don't get picked for Rednal's game I'm super happy he brought it to my attention. And it's free!

Scions of deitys is always a draw. Gates Ascendant sounds cool to me. I'd probably submit a character.

"deities"

Sorry, that's an embarrassing typo.

I would certainly be up for that. It would give us more time to scour the books and craft and refine our characters if nothing else.

The Gates Ascendant sounds interesting. Plus I prefer to stick with the Pathfinder system.

Happy New Year to all! And as a gift to celebrate, Recruitment is open for Star Wars: Republic SOE!

Meant to include this in the last post, but I was a bit tired:

THIS THREAD IS STILL OPEN AND ACTIVE. I'm still interested in seeing more thoughts and banter on the other campaign ideas, so if anyone's interested please post away! There's a very good chance I'll be running a second game, probably Recruiting/opening in late January or early February.

Gates Ascendant sounds like something I'd enjoy. I already have the beginnings of an idea for a demigod character.

Also, throwing in another vote for Godbound. It seems to fit your campaign idea pretty well.

I'm checking back in here to bump the thread, reaffirming that it's still open to new interest, and also to say that I've begun checking out Godbound. I'll admit I was leery at first when it said it was based in OSR games--I've had some less-than-stellar experiences there--but it's growing on me, seems like a neat little system. I'll put forward a renewed, specific question here:

Who all would be interested in using Godbound as opposed to Pathfinder for a game? And as a follow-up, how would you feel about semi-mashing the ideas for Gates Ascendant and Swords of the Sinners, to have a demigod-mythic-themed game that's also taking from classic fantasy and RPGs?

I'm playing in Rednal's Godbound game and so far it seems neat. Once you get a handle on the rules charop is simple and the game in play is pretty simple as well, but versatile enough to do almost anything with.

I know nothing about Godbound, so I'd want to take a look at the book before I said anything.

This is my opinion as well, but I'd potentially be interested based on the concepts.

I was working on a character concept for Rednal's godbound game but didn't get my ass in gear to get it finished in time.

Sure.

Sounds good, I love the classics! :)

First Question. The same I answer when I hear anything about a system I don't know: Why not try it? I mean, if it's not FATAL or some such obscure and weird shit, yeah.

Second Question. All the way to Yes City, passing through Yaysburg and Affirmative Town.

Roll for anal circumference.

Randy gay ogres.

Since we're now dealing with it, might as well drop the link here. It's free! And doesn't seem that difficult to start understanding.

That's the unspoken agreement that occurs when you voice interest in any game, in my opinion. I'm pretty sure I also remember reading a review of the game where the reviewer realized halfway through character creation that they literally could not continue--not because they were so disgusted with the rules (they were, but they were getting paid to persevere)--but because there literally were not rules in the book for what the other rules were asking him to do.

So yeah, there are two systems that have made it to my list of Will Never Play: FATAL and Racial Holy War. The Diumvirate of Disgust. (Here's hoping we don't get to three.)

I would also want to read through the rules for Godbound before deciding anything on it. Thank you for dropping the link there!

That sounds very interesting, count me in.

Since I suggested it in the first place, I am totally interested!

You've forgotten the last of the Unholy Trinity, Friendzones & Fedoras! I found that file whilst browsing my other collection of random RPG-related things, and it brought back dark memories.

PS: Your link is broken, at least for me.

I went over some of the Godbound stuff and it looks kind of interesting. Though it feels like the opening was stolen straight from Dragon Age...

I'm interested in Deadlands Noir/ Savage Worlds home brew. I've played various versions of Star Wars themed campaigns in other systems then that would be willing to try but don't own that system.
