Archaeologist Bard trait advice?

Advice

I decided to roll this archetype to fill a niche that our party needs, and also because the vanilla rouge bores me.

I see everyone keep saying to take fate's favored as a trait, unfortunately my GM won't allow material from books he has not read so it's off the table. What are some other good traits I could grab?

I don't know what books you have available to pull from, but if you can't get Fate's Favored, pick up anything that gives you initiative or save bonuses. You should be fine on class skills and ranks as a Bard, so you shouldn't need any of the skill feats.

Reactionary is a pretty standard combat trait: +2 Initiative

What are your race and region, and which campaign?

This doesn't list sources, so it could be tough to navigate, but the best guide I've seen for traits is here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1dVQA-uI740Hh8vq-zsnbHV6UwJg-4QKlpmkxBEm CdhA/mobilebasic?pli=1#id.78iozpkog1hn

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Fate’s Favored and Criminal are probably good traits. Criminal gives you disable device as a class skill, which bards do not get including archeologist. Kind of silly they get a bonus to disable device and can disable magic traps but not get it as a class skill.

Fate’s Favored by the way is in ultimate campaign. Since this is where most common traits are I am not sure what you have access to.

Maestro of the Society is another top tier trait for an Archeologist. +3 rounds of Luck. This is very important because Archeologists do not get more Luck as they advance in level.

Any trait that make Disable Device a class skill is not a bad idea if you plan on using thse class features that deal with traps and locks.

Silver Crusade

Resilient shores up your weak Fort save.
