Guess the Iconics!

General Discussion

So we know the what the base classes are going to be (Technomancer, Mechanic, Solarion, Soldier, Envoy, Mystic, & Operative), & many of the base races (Lashunta, Humans, Ratfolk, Androids, Kasatha, and 2 unknown) so logic dictates that there will probably a 1:1 for race to class purposes, so let us guess what the remaining Iconics shall be!

Operative- Already accounted for; Iseph, Asexual Android Extraordinaire

Mystic- Probably going to Be female Lashunta for... Seoni reasons

Envoy- Already accounted for; Navasi, Female "human" (obviously actually a Changeling; look at the heterochromia)

Soldier: Probably Kasatha(so many attacks per round), other possibilities include ratfolk(for ironic/GotG reasons) or male human if I am wrong and it turns out not to have a only one of each race limit (think Valeros, and other white male iconic fighters DnD has had over the years)

Solarion: I am probably going to say that this is one of the unannounced races, considering that Solarions are looking pretty gonzo to me, so having it be a weird race fits. Failing that I could see it being a male Lashunta(if they want me to weep great salty tears) or Kasatha (seeing as they are a bit out there themselves.)

Mechanic: I would think it would be a ratfolk, kind of a Rocket Racoon sort of deal, but if, like I said for the Soldier, it isn't a limit of one iconic per race I could see it being an android (for obvious reasons) or an unknown race that fits this niche better.

Technomancer: Last, and certainly not least, I would say that their is still a good chance for this being a female Lashunta (again, for Senoi reasons) but it still could be an unrevealed race in the way the Borg (RESISTANCE IS FUTILE. YOU WILL BE ASSIMILATED).

What are your thoughts on the matter? Do you think that there will be a one iconic per race limit? That most of them shall be human? That it will solely be pin up shots of scantily clad female lashunta? Post your thoughts in the comments below.

Well, strictly speaking Agender, not Asexual, but I doubt an Android has much of a sex drive anyway.

I thought Solarian is a race, not a class.

Xenowarden: Human, or for the irony Android.

What is a xenowarden and why do you think that is a class in Starfinder?

It's a group, like druids. They're not a class.

I actually think the kasatha may be the Solarion, able to show off its weapon and magic prowess in the same picture due to his arms.

I think the ysoki will be the mechanic, and that a female lashunta will be the Technomancer or the mystic.

Has the android been confirmed for operative?

If all I've said is right, then the 2 races yet to be revealed to be the soldier, which makes sense, as the "generic"class would probably get an interesting new race and either the music or the Technomancer for the other one, which is cool that the alien is magic.

Just my guess thigh

That's right! I totally forgot about them in the most recent article. Well, then, xenowardens are not a class and not relevant to the thread, I would think. More than likely, at most, I suspect xenowardens are more like an archetype for the mystic class, if anything beyond being just a faction.

Nah,they confirmed that Solarion is one of the 7 base classes. As for Xenowardens, that kind of like having an iconic Hellknight or Lion Blade, as they typically do not make iconics of in-universe organizations, typically limiting themselves to classes.

Which article mentioned Xenowardens?

This one.

Can't seem to find Solarian on that blog.

It is under the "Gameplay" header where it states, "There will be seven core classes on release: the technomancer (magical hacker blending technology and magic), mechanic (engineer with a robot buddy), solarian (mystical melee combatant harnessing the cycles of the stars), soldier (heavy weapons specialist), envoy (diplomat and ally-booster), mystic (caster channeling strange energies to manipulate biological systems), and operative (stealthy skill specialist)."

The article I linked to in my previous post had the following to say about the Solarian:

Solarian:
But the Solarian is really my favorite, because I think it’s the most different from anything we’ve done in Pathfinder. You can kind of say: “Well, Soldier is like a Fighter and the Operative is kind of like a Rogue,” but Solarians are sort of this mystical kind of group who are all about maintaining balance, and so they’ve got this fundamental mechanic where they’ve got some powers that pull them toward one side of this energy spectrum, which is creating energy instead of destroying it. Like sort of supernovas on one side and black holes on the other. Gravity vs. energy. I’m explaining this terribly, but the book does it better. Basically, unlike the Force in Star Wars, which is varied by a light side and a dark side, imagine a Jedi with no moral component, just different abilities from different sides. As you use the abilities for one side or another, you get better at those and worse at the others. During combat, which abilities you use now affect which abilities will be most powerful or most available to you a few rounds later in combat, and so you’re always looking down the road. There’s an element of balance and an element of deliberately throwing off your balance so that you can go super hardcore exploder, or go the other direction and be doing force pull kind of stuff. I just think that it’s really interesting to have that balancing mechanic, and I don’t think people have seen that before out of anything we’ve done. They also fight with either energy they make into weapons and armor for themselves, so they have, I wouldn’t say a lightsaber, but imagine if you could take that same energy weapon idea but make it into whatever you wanted.

Oh so either space paladin or Jedi. Ok.

I think the Kasatha will be the mystic based on the mundane knife, huge gun and spell effect in the splash art.

Technomancer female Lashunta just to avoid the Seoni comparison?

Soldier Male Lashunta

Solarion goes to an unknown race? It sounds different enough that perhaps the class/religion/philosophy is alien in origin? Star Monks dude.

Soldier goes to the ysoki we see on the cover

Envoy is known

Operative is known

Envoy and operative have been revealed. Human envoy named Navasi and android operative named Iseph.

Also, you said soldier twice lol

My two cents,

Human Envoy
Android Operative
Ysoki Mechanic
Kasatha Technomancer
Lashunta (male) Soldier
Brethedan Mystic (my guess for one of the races not yet revealed)
And the last race will be the Solarion.

FWIW, StarfinderWiki is already up, and we're tracking and collating info on the iconics, classes, and setting details as they're revealed on the Paizo blog and interviews.

As for my guesses:

Known:

  • Human envoy
  • Android operative

Likely based on released art:

  • Ysoki mechanic
  • Kasatha technomancer

Unknown:

  • Aballonian soldier
  • Lashunta mystic
  • Summerborn Triaxian solarian

Whoops!

Well to be fair, we have at least one race that functions as two thanks to the Lashunta so i was thinking we would see that dichotomy in the iconics but we also need to have all core races represented with the seven classes, doubling up on soldier does seem plausible since it is supposed to cover massive power armor, melee and shooter concepts. the Ysoki looks like a DEX focused gun nut, maybe there will be a Male Lashunta in power armor with a laser sword?

The technomancer needs to be named Malcom/Malina Weir. 'Mal Weir'.

Silver Crusade

Known:

Iseph, android Operative

Navasi, human Envoy

Unknown:

Art suggests Iseph in a different outfit and two others.

Ysoki Mechanic almost certainly. In PF Ratfolk make the best Alchemists (with Hobgoblins, oddly) and everything says tinker.

The Kasathan is probably a Solarian because he is casting a spell and carrying an enormous rifle.

Mystic... Lashunta? Seems likely.

Technomancer has to be smart and nimble and we don't know the race. Were it up to me I'd embrace Flumphs. Given what we know about the setting, it might be some Undead race from Eox.

Soldier can be anything strong and we have no race. I'd have Orcs or Hobgoblins. Something players already know about and which are easy to imagine as military.

Who is the artist for the starfinder iconics?

I have seen a few people suggest the Kasatha for SOlarion but nothing we have seen from the Solarion has led me to believe they will use mundane weapons like the dagger and rifle we see in the splash art. It looks like more of a magus or ranger than semi-mystic channeling opposed energies. This may all be just because i am holding out hope for a Soul Knife/Jedi-energy sword class out of it though.

Pathfinder Rulebook Subscriber

While true, the android we see in the concept art is very different to Iseph. I would almost think that was a soldier, though need to see one to know for sure. The kasatha in the art may well indeed not be a Solarion, now that we know a bit more about them (till the recent article, we were just told fighter and magic with balance mechanic and energy stuff) that may still be the kasatha in the long run, but we'll see.

Also, can't wait to see the mechanic iconics companion. Hopefully something as memorable as R2D2 or BB-8. Maybe it flats though for easy/cool art scenes

So, what class do you guys think is going to be revealed next?

My money's on it being the scantily clad female lashunta Mystic.

Alrighty then, now that all the iconics names and species have been announced, let's see just how accurate our guessing was, shall we?

1)I was right in my initial assumption that it would be one iconic of each race with no repeats.

2)I was wrong about the Iconic mystic being a lashunta, for it turns out it was actually Keskodai; a shirren (making it pretty possibly the opposite of a lashunta in terms of looks at any rate).

3)I was wrong with my guesses about which race the soldier was going to be, as it turned out to be a vesk named Obozaya (to be entirely fair to myself, the vesk had not been announced yet, making it so what was the obvious choice for soldier a non-option at the time.}

4)I was right (well, kind of) about it being likely that the solarion would be a kasatha (apparently named Altronus).

5)I was right about the mechanic being a ratfolk (named Quig, incidentally)

6)I was right about the Technomancer being a female Lashunta (named Raia)

All in all, I didn't guess to poorly considering, but it would be interesting to hear from other people. Were your guesses more accurate than mine? Less?
