My Gunslinger in PFS

Advice

I've made an Undine Gunslinger for Pathfinder Society play. It's really starting to feel, though, that I'm not going to be entirely useful until level 5 or so since it doesn't seem to me like I'm contributing meaningfully inside or outside of combat. Consequently, I'm thinking of changing to something that will hit its stride earlier (by 3rd level especially), perhaps an Unchained Rogue (maybe eventually multiclassing with an Urban Barbarian or a Feral Hunter).

Does anyone have a suggestion for a Dex/Wis build that will feel useful out of the gate? Or do you have some reassurance which will get me to 3rd level with my Gunslinger (and perhaps even precise shot then)?

If you wanna still use guns then I don't know, I don't think the trench fighter archetype is legal. But if you aren't enjoying g you're gunslinger then how about a spellslinger to keep guns while contributing more, or maybe a warpriest with the wep prof feats?

I don't think Spellslinger is legal, either. A ranged Warpriest would be nice, but it would still run into the problem of not having Precise Shot until level 3.

I guess it's just going to hurt not playing a human with a ranged build, huh?

If you want a dex/wis based character that is awesome and are okay with dropping guns I strongly suggest an Inquisitor of Erastil who practices archery and chooses the chivalry domain.

Gunslingers don't really get any good until level 5 when they get dex to damage. Even then, Gunslingers are only ever good at dealing damage.

gunslingers only exists at lv5. they aren't good before and they never level higher, as such they will often multiclass. So if you want you can take the level if inquisitor now, go the inquisition that gives you face skills as wis based, and now you have more out of combat stuff while you wait till lv6 to be gunslinger 5.

Inquisitor! Thank you! I knew I was overlooking a good choice.

That's what it was starting to feel like, but I wasn't really sure. Since PFS seems to be 1-5 heavy (for me, at least), I think I'll give the ol' 'Slinger a pass.

I have an aasimar gunslinger (musket master), and yes the first two levels hurt. Once you hit level 3, though, things go smoother. (If you really don't want to wait, you could dip into fighter at 2 for the feat-- but 1st level will still hurt.) It does feel odd to roll such a high damage die (1d12) with such a low bonus (+1 without a magic weapon), but it's still an average of 7-8 per round and since they're touch attacks you'll hit pretty often.
