Transformative enchant question

Rules Questions

Looking at the Transformative weapon enchant is says I can chance one type of weapon to another if they match the same handed-ness so 1h to 1h, etc.

Katana is a 1h exotic, 2 hand martial does this allow me to change it into any 1 or 2 handed weapon?

If I don't have the exotic Weapon Pro to use Katana I'm forced to use it as a 2h weapon, can I then change my Katana into a double weapon?

It seems to me that the clear intent is that the weapon is limited to turning into other weapons in a single category. So the Katana is listed as a one-handed weapon and can only be turned into other weapons that are listed as one-handed weapons. But for an extra 5,000 gp you can buy the Greater Transformative special ability that doesn't have any such restrictions.

A greater transformative weapon becomes any other weapon the wielder desires when a command word is spoken. The weapon cannot become ammunition, but can freely change between simple, martial, exotic, light, one-handed, two- handed, melee, and ranged. The weapon retains all of its enhancement bonuses and weapon special abilities. However, abilities prohibited by its current shape do not function. For example, a keen greater transformative weapon functions normally in the form of a piercing or slashing weapon, but cannot use the keen special ability when in the shape of a bludgeoning weapon. A double weapon that loses the double quality cannot use the abilities on one of its ends (wielder’s choice), whereas a non-double weapon that gains the double quality applies all its abilities to only one end. When unattended for 1 day, the weapon reverts to its true shape.

Technically speaking with the lesser enchantment, a Katana can only become another one-handed exotic weapon, which would include a bastard sword, but not a long sword, nor a greatsword.

Incorrect.

Transformative

This special ability can only be placed on melee weapons. A transformative weapon alters its shape at its wielder's command, becoming any other melee weapon of the same general shape and handedness; the weapon's categorization as simple, martial, or exotic is irrelevant. For example, a Medium transformative longsword can take the shape of any other Medium one-handed melee weapon, such as a scimitar, flail, or trident, but not a Medium light or two-handed melee weapon (such as a Medium short sword or a Medium greatsword). It can even take the shape of comparable weapons of different size categories. For example, a Small greatsword is a two-handed slashing weapon for a Small character, but is a one-handed slashing weapon for a Medium character, which is very similar to a Medium longsword; a Small transformative greatsword can thus become an actual Medium longsword, usable by a Medium creature without the –2 penalty for using a weapon of the wrong size. The weapon retains all of its abilities, including enhancement bonuses and weapon special abilities, except those prohibited by its current shape. For example, a keen transformative weapon functions normally in the form of a piercing or slashing weapon, but cannot use the keen special ability when in the shape of a bludgeoning weapon. When unattended, the weapon reverts to its true shape.

Nope.

Katana is listed only as 1-handed exotic.

The description states it can be used as a 2-handed martial weapon, but it is not one.

So is there a weapon that would br able to go from 1h, 2h and double? This is assuming no class features such as juton grip from Barbarian.

Second, where do I find Greater Transformation? D20 and nethys don't seem to have it

Only if the weapon had an ability to change its size when not enchanted. However, transformative can change a Medium one-handed weapon to a Small two-handed weapon, as they are equivalent in size.

Class features don't affect transformative unless they alter the physical size of the weapon.

Like other weapon enhancements, transformative applies to one end of a double weapon. Others have suggested that a transformative two-handed weapon could transform into a double weapon, but only one end would carry any enhancements from the original weapon (I'd include in that, special materials and masterwork).

It might help if you could describe exactly what you are trying to accomplish, but here are a few possibilities that you might want to consider.

(1) A Taiaha is a one-handed weapon that can be wielded two-handed to strike with one end or wielded as a two-handed double weapon.

(2) A quarterstaff can be wielded two-handed using one end or wielded as a double weapon. If you take the Quarterstaff Master feat then you can also wield it one-handed.

(3) The doru, sibat, shortspear, and trident are all one-handed weapons from the Spears Fighter Weapon Group. All can be wielded two-handed, and the Spear Dancing Style feat will let you wield one of them as a double weapon.

(4) The Fighter's Fork is kind of a nifty trident. You can brace it, throw it as a trident, throw it as a javelin, shorten it until it is a light weapon, wield it as a one-handed weapon, wield it as a two-handed weapon without reach, or lengthen it into a two-handed reach weapon. That's pretty versatile, especially since any feats and class abilities that apply to tridents apply in any of its forms. Take the Spear Dancing Style feat and you can also use it as a double weapon.

(5) A Bladed Belt can become any piercing or slashing weapon, so you can turn it into plenty of one-handed or two-handed weapons. There are also a few double weapons like the double-chained kama that are non-bludgeoning.

(6) A Greater Transformative weapon can become any other weapon, so there are many options for one-handed, two-handed, and double weapons.

While Transformative is silent on how to deal with transforming to and from double weapons, the Greater Transformative special ability that I quoted above does clarify such changes. I think applying those rules, retroactively, to Transformative is probably the most reasonable approach. I would use those same rules for a Bladed Belt.

A couple of other options.

(7) A Rod of Lordly Might can transform into a light weapon (+2 light mace), a one-handed weapon (+1 flaming longsword, +3 shortspear, +4 batteaxe), and a two-handed weapon (+3 longspear and +3 lance).

(8) A Rod of Dwarven Might can transform into a ranged weapon (+2 light or heavy crossbow), light weapon (+1 returning light hammer), a one-handed weapon (+4 dwarven waraxe), and a two-handed weapon (+3 dwarven longhammer).
