Ally Codex?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

We have gotten a Villain Codex, so could we ever get an Ally Codex in the future? Would that even work as a book?

A church with aasimar zealots, a dwarven platoon, an elven scout team, a halfing caravan, a gnome workshop, a vigilante strike team (yes, the Avengers or Justice League for Pathfinder XD ), a former slave group turned slave savers, a Gold Dragon cult (please go with the draconic archetypes here)... it's not like there aren't NPC groups that could be used as allies out there.

I like it.

Take the villain codex, invert their alignments, replace all the adjectives with their antonyms, and substitute soft, fluffy fur for scales.

Voila! You now have a hero codex filled with a fleet of honorbound swashbucklers, a civic-minded caravan merchant, and the bunny-loving clerics of Erastil.

Silver Crusade

Good ideas OP.

- Halfling Caravan, with fair traders and Bellflower anti-slavers hidden amongst them. A Halfling Bard makes a great NPC friend as they can simply Inspire Courage and help with Knowledge rather than fight.

- Vive la Revolution! A gang of citizens against the cruel government. Can offer safe houses and political influence. Includes friends like priests of Milani, charming Vigilantes and insider politician Mesmerists.

- The Enemy of my Enemy... the party is facing demons and things are not looking good. Perhaps they can ally with a genocidal order of Hellknights? They slaughter demons like it's going out of fashion, but the PCs should be wary of any contracts of alliance they sign.

- Robin Hood and his Merry Hippie Environmentalists. Erastil Rangers, Druids, Hunters etc. are fed up of the magical pollutants and blights. They offer a fine haven for training and wholesome organic food.

- 24/7 Party People. A capital city organisation operating out of a nightclub. Devotees of Arshea, Calistria, Kurgess and Cayden Caelein abound. Free spirited sex and drugs and rock and roll are where it's at. Oracles and Bards and Witches and Telekineticists. Be aware that this lot are a *fun* organisation, not neccessarily a *good* one so there is bound to be some Succubus in its ranks.

Liberty's Edge

I would buy it.

The purpose of a Codex is to get quick references and materials for your game. What you're describing would take a bit longer to convert.

I get the idea, but instead of swapping everything to use for myself, why not have new good-aligned organizations for everyone to use instead?
