I have this NPC concept for a whip user with a high acrobatics/move speed that can jump between low ceiling buildings and use the whip attack mid-way through the jump to strike down at someone beneath him in the street, and complete the full jump by relying on the spring attack feat.
Spring attack reads:
Benefit: As a full-round action, you can move up to your speed and make a single melee attack without provoking any attacks of opportunity from the target of your attack. You can move both before and after the attack, but you must move at least 10 feet before the attack and the total distance that you move cannot be greater than your speed. You cannot use this ability to attack a foe that is adjacent to you at the start of your turn.
and the acrobatics has the following provision:
Action: None. An Acrobatics check is made as part of another action or as a reaction to a situation.
Under ordinary circumstances this wouldn't work, since you have to complete the move to attack, but spring attack lets you break down your move into two parts. The question to resolve here is whether or not a jump can be interrupted in the same way normal movement can be.
So here's the scenario. Say the character is jumping a 30 foot gap, (with enough move speed to the jump with a single move), can he make the whip attack at 15ft through the jump, hitting with reach at a target who is 10ft below him, and then complete the other 15 feet of the jump?
