Back in late high school/early college, I'd been reading a bunch of Lovecraft, and one of the stories involved a magical place called Celephais. (IIRC, spelling uncertain.) I liked the word and the next time I was stuck for a character name, decided to name my elf Celephais, but, being me, decided to mix things up and transpose the 'l' sound and the 'ph' sound, so as to make it not an obvious steal.
And that's how I ended up playing 'Syphilis, the elf.'
Ugh. Note to self, always say your made-up fantasy names aloud, when not surrounded by friends who will mock you endlessly...
I bet he was quite the catch, but probably also a rash young fellow that made the party sick of his shenanigans.

Firstly, the one confession I have that shocks people is that I've never watched, or have the desire, to watch Game of Thrones. (People act like I'm a heretic.)
And the confession that's the most embarrassing is that I've never played Half-Life.
*bracing myself from incoming tomatoes*
If that's any consolation, I can confess to the same.

I watched Gamne of Thrones through Season Two, then decided that I hated pretty much all of the characters, and really didn't care who lived or died. Haven't watched it since.
I have also never played Half-Life, or really any other immersive video game since the early 1990s. After staying up past 4 AM on a work-night multiple times in a row playing Doom or 7th Guest on my Win 3.11 PC, I realized that I had a problem, and had to quit cold-turkey.
(I tried again in the mid-Aughts with Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess on the Wii... and fell into the same old traps.)
Basically, I don't play video games for the same reason I don't shoot heroin: I'm afraid of addiction.
