Shooting Star Sorcerer

Advice

trying to a take a bite at the Charisma-tron again

Race: Human
Traits: Varisian Tattoo, ???
Class: Sorcerer 11/Scaled Fist UMonk 1
Feats
H: Divine Fighting Technique (Desna)
1st: Noble Scion (War)
3rd: Point-Blank Shot
5th: Weapon Focus (starknife)
7th: Startoss Style
9th: Startoss Comet
11th: Startoss Shower

1. You get mostly a sorcerer with +Cha to Init, hit, damage, and AC. Startoss for +6 to damage, and a circlet of persuasion (maybe) for +3 to hit and init.
2. Haven't decided on archetypes or bloodlines for Sorcerer. Possible choices would be Tattooed Sorcerer (for extra tattoo action) or the starsoul bloodline (the stars! they're everywhere!) or both.
3. There's a spare trait in there. Any ideas?
4. Evangelist and/or EK. Worth it?

Just curious why you went sorcerer, Startoss seems great vs lots of enemies, but then again that's where most blast spells shine.

Traits: can't go wrong with reactionary

I would probably go tattooed sorcerer myself. I like this build a lot though, not sure about much else though

Socerer is a class that doesn't mind maximizing Charisma at the expense of other stats. Bard is probably the natural choice for Startoss, but bard isn't naturally SAD like sorcerer is. I like Startoss here because it's damage without being magic missile.

Liberty's Edge

The Irrepressible trait would boost your resistance to charm and compulsion effects (Cha instead of Wis on saves).

ok, let me make some assumptions about your character here...

STR 8
DEX 13
CON 12
INT 10
WIS 10
CHA 27 (18 point buy +2 racial +3 Level + 4 Headband)

Six feats into it and at level 12 you have an "at will selective blast" that targets regular AC with +19 to hit and deals 1D4+17.

A blinkback belt is a almost a requirement here, especially if you are going to enchant your Starknife.

It is neat how super SAD you can get and the starknife trick is a very cool theme. And you know what, if you can get haste up and running you have a good shot at ~36 damage to selected targets. For a 1/2 bab, booster-less, physical attack thats not too shabby.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

This looks like a rare case where the Eldritch Scrapper archetype might actually be useful. The starsoul 1st & 9th bloodline powers aren't great, and you could use more feats.

Meh.

Even with Cha to attack and damage, you're still stuck at poor BAB vs normal AC with the starknife.

Why not go swashbuckler (flying blade) 1/magus (eldritch scion) 11 instead? You don't need Cha to AC because you can wear light armor (later medium); the Arcane bloodline can give you blur (later displacement), as well.

You "only" have 4th-level spells instead of 5th, but you can poach some of the better sorcerer/wizard spells (that you don't already have) with Spell Blending. However, you are much better at weapon attacks and gain bonus feats faster (5th and 11th magus levels); which can be any combat, item creation, or metamagic feats to boot.

In order for Startoss Shower to make sense you really need EK's BAB.
I still believe a Lunar Oracle with Prophetic Armor does it better due to single class and medium BAB. Warsighted archetype is also stronger than Eldritch Scrapper.

okay, so Cha to AC isn't as interesting as light armor? really?

Sorcerer 6/Fighter 1/EK 5

use the extra feat to grab Arcane Armor Training, and the extra feats from EK to nab Arcane Strike. Two levels off from spellcasting though.

another option would be

Sorcerer 6/Evangelist 6

which is 1 level down but nets you medium BaB (in exchange for +nothing to AC)

Scarab Sages

What not go oracle instead? You get really good buffs, much better class abilities, 3/4 BAB, and the same cha focus.
