PbP Community Multi Table Special II - Blood under Absalom

After the joys of Year of the Shadow Lodge, it is time to run the next PbP – Blood under Absalom!

Kick off date will be the morning of Friday 13th of January (Sydney, Australia time). The Scenario will then run at a conversion rate of 5 mins/day until completion, which should run around 6 weeks. Please be aware that PbP Multi Tables run at a fairly brisk pace, and players (and GMs) will need to bear that in mind and schedule accordingly.

The main aim is to have fun, however bear in mind that this is a challenging scenario that is delivered at a brisk pace by design, so bring both a sense of humour and a bit of flexibility :)

Boons:
Yes, there will be boons.

Rules:
* Normal PFS rules apply, and both ‘classic’ and ‘core’ tables are available.
* The event will take place on the Paizo Boards, with one MythWeavers table.
* Please ensure you clarify any other customs and practices with your table GM.
* If you encounter any problems or have any concerns please let your GM know ASAP, alternatively I’m just an inbox away.

Players:
* You may only register and play at one table.
* If your desired tier is full, either choose another tier to play OR jump on the waitlist and I will see what can be done. I have some unallocated tables aside for this purpose.
* There will be a dedicated Overseer announcement thread.
* IF there is a requirement, you MAY be moved to a new table to help it become/remain legal for play. I tend to go with 'last in, first moved'.

GMs:
* There are enough GM’s registered at this stage, as I had a solid number return after running the first event. With that said, there is room for ‘back ups’ in case people drop out or cannot continue.
* If you are keen to be involved in GM'ing, please inbox me and I will add you on the waitlist (who are also points of contact for the next scenario)
* There will be a dedicated GM thread for our planning and comms.

How did I get signed up to DM???

I can do it, but I'll need a fair amount of help (I don't have the Scenario, for starters, and I'm not very experienced with the online reporting rigmarole and generating Chronicles and stuff).

Lantern Lodge

You were probably on the GM list from last time...

When was there a GM registration? Was going to sign up, but its already full?

LOL yes because you were still on the list :)

Alternatively, if you would prefer to pass then that's cool - there are a few GM's pending who would happily jump in...

GM rego was by reinvite of GM's from the first session and early waitlisters. There was a thunderous response back and 14 of 16 returned, with one that didn't (Magabeus) joining as the short notice GM ready to replace any drop outs during the session.

If you are keen, there is a waitlist on the sign-up sheet, please add your details as its going to be the first spot I go hunting for more if we need to expand/rep GM's.

The Exchange

While I'm thinking about finally entering PFS by PbP, this here may not be for me (not sure that I can do "brisk" pace). So, more out of curiosity, my question:

What does conversion rate of 5 min/day mean exactly and how does it translate into necessary rate of posts/day?

4 people marked this as a favorite.

All Multis are on a timer in face to face play, and events are scheduled to happen at set times, and all tables transition together based on the timings laid out in the scenario.

It is a little abstract, but timings in the last multi suggested that a combat element typically ran from 30-45 minutes, which in PbP terms would be 6-9 days.
That doesn't translate all that well into a post/day ratio, as there are a lot of factors in play, but gives you grasp (for those used to PbP sessions) how that should play out and 'feel'.

There are always a bunch of people who would prefer the rate was marginally relaxed (6min/day) but my polling after the last event indicated 10% of respondents said it was too fast, 10% said too slow, but the 80% felt it was fine.

So I'm sticking with 5/day from my end.

From your end, hard to tell - usually 1/day should be perfectly ok, but results vary wildly from table to table - I saw a few tables with a low post total (around the 200 mark) but then there were these wild crazy players who racked up around 700 odd... I am not sure what they were drinking.

The Exchange

Thanks for the explanation. 1 Post per day sounds fair (I had thought that it would mean much more than this), so hmm, I may have to think about this :)

Hi Shifty, I just wanted to post in here because I didn't want to clutter signups too much.

I have signed up for an 8-9 table with my Battle Herald. But If there is a need to get an extra person to make a table fire, I have characters available in every tier.

For example, I have a Cleric 11 if the high tier is still left with only 3 players.

I am interested in this, though since I am new to PFS and have only one character who is involved in another thread I would have to make a new character, I think. Which is fine but I need a concept.

We just wanted the full experience! Have you looked at the page count of a special? There's a lot of material to cover.

Lantern Lodge

To be fair, half of it in the Sky Key Solution was stat blocks...

Dark Archive

Hey Shifty, just dropping in to let you know that I'll need a copy of the scenario. Not sure where to drop that request.

Looks like there is only 1 tier 10-11 thread, so I may make my table another of those if the other table fills quickly.

@Derek - Cheers, although given how these end up I think everyone should be ok with their first preference - it was some of the later added tables that filled slowly last time. Should be ok this time though.

@Andygal - Reserve your spot now though in a T1-2 :) That being said, you still have a while until kick off, so you SHOULD be ok if you are only in a scenario.

@Pirate Rob - And explore it in the entirety of its grand splendour you did. Indeed one of my main criticisms about the multis is there is also a rich and interesting backstory that the players never get to know about. I think there needs to be a fat 'post game' spoiler/explainer.

@Aero - There are a lot of statblocks, I always need to crack out the highlighter in the face to face sessions.

@GME - I'll be putting in a request for the signed up GM's to get a copy sent, same method I used last time - I have your Paizo account email addy, so will be added when the Paizo gods deem it so.

@Debug - Yep, that may well eventuate...!

*blink*

Geez, this thing is filling up pretty quick...!

Grand Lodge

Yay, managed to sign up! Now to get things prepped on the character and update spells.

Signed up! I need to pull now my sheet and put here on the forums. Never used the character in PbP hehe :)

@MH - Sweet! Welcome aboard :)

@The Chess - Welcome to you too! Hope you have fun with him.

Look at all these smiling happy faces. Makes it all worthwhile.

Signed up under the tier 10-11 classic..

If my table continues to have no sign ups and you need to, feel free to allocate my table to whatever tier is needed. I'm not scared to run high tier games. ;)

How do I get on the waitlist for a Paizo message boards game? I have characters at levels 4 and 5.

Sovereign Court

I'm surprised that there's only 3 CORE tables this time round.
I wouldn't mind runnning one but It was filled when I finally saw it. :P

GME: Let's see how it goes - were only just in the sign up process and already the 90 odd available spaces are rapidly running out.

WerePox: Welcome aboard!

Caps: Why be on a waitlist? You mean as a GM or Player?

ND: Last time the Core was a bit of a slow fill - as such I just ran the same availability.

Sovereign Court

If there is a demand for it I volunter to run CORE lol I already ran Classic once. :P

Shifty

I signed up for the CORE 1-2 game but thought it was Classic. I know your list doesnt show anyone but have you rec'd any PMs for 1-2 classic?

I'd prefer a Classic game so that would mean myself and probably Mjolbeard89 would be on the Player waiting list for tier 1-2.

Sovereign Court

I am prepared to join in the fun

ND: I'm still capped in at 15 tables at the moment...

KN: looks like you scored a slot :)

QT: Welcome to the fun!

Pathfinder Adventure, Lost Omens, Rulebook, Starfinder Roleplaying Game Subscriber

I didn't see any open slots. I would be happy to take one. I mean as a player.

@caps - if you scroll to the right in the spreadsheet, there is a waitlist; you can come hang out with me there and hope another table opens up!

Caps: jump in the wait list, then I can see what demand there is and in which space it sits.

Devil: cheers,I'll keep testing and adjusting.

That escalated quickly. Opened up a T10-11 table, look back and it's full. I'll send PMs out to all of my players once I open up a thread for it. I'll probably do that as soon as I knock out one of my existing threads, so probably in a couple weeks.

DA yeah the whole show filled very quickly there.

I see there are a few spaces in 1-2 both core and classic, and a couple in the 8-9 range.

On the upside it looks like pretty much everyone got a seat as there are only two on the waitlist.

---***---***---

***PSA - If you want to play, but can't find a spot, please join the waitlist. If you aren't there, then we don't know to try create space for you***

This may be answered elsewhere but difference between classic and core? Core = CRB only

Blog post about Core.

Grand Lodge

I have this character I'll sign up with, though I can't edit google docs, so I'd appreciate it if someone added me please.

FYI, I'm currently leveling her up to second level with a level of monk.

CJ+BGiB - Thanks :p

Naomi - the event is pretty full, and there is only 1-2 space in Core at the moment, I have added you to the waitlist.

Sovereign Court

Super pumped about this! Thanks for organizing, Shifty!

Grand Lodge

Thanks

@Yasu - welcome!

Dark Archive

I moved from 1-2 standard to 1-2 CORE to free up a spot and I'll just apply the GM credit to the character I was going to play standard with.

Thanks GME.

Naomi you have now been allocated a spot.

No problem. No sense in taking up a spot another player can enjoy if I can just roll over to CORE.

Have fun Naomi! Can't wait to get this thing rolling.

I have a 5th level magus, but it looks like the spots are filled. I added myself to the wait-list. This sounds like fun.

Thanks Pendrak.

Looking like we have a legal table of waitlisters at that tier, pretty convenient! :)

Grand Lodge

Awesome, thank you!
:D

Dark Archive

I was hoping you would nab the spot Naomi. I'm glad you got worked in.
